I always felt that the reason someya uses a weapon here is because deep down he knows that he can’t beat kiryu hand to hand but he also knows that this time he can’t lose, hence why he decides to wield a katana.

He definitely does respect kiryu with how many times he has been defeated by him already The katana will help with his odds of winning even if he still sees their fighting ability to be equal anyways

do note the subtle detail: he tosses away the sheath as he draws the blade, this is done by a samurai when he knows he's gonna die in battle

@@polaski421 I remember seeing this in the comment section of a video about vergil fighting mundus. I started looking out for this detail a lot more and realized that this is the case a lot of times in modern pop culture involving samurai or katana wielding swordsmen.

Someya - A rare example of a true old school Yakuza in modern times. He fights to protect those important to him and is more than willing to die for them. You know Kiryu wanted to KILL Iwami for Someya too.

I love that you can hear aspects of bloodstained philosophy if you listen close enough

Yakuza 6 was a game rife with technical issue and strange decisions compared to previous installments, held aloft by incredible characters such as Someya and others. While it was at times painful playing through it, never was I bored.

Still one of the best osts in the whole series, I’m happy it isn’t forgotten yet

The backing choir somehow make the sound make even more epic

Bruh, this whole theme in itself is a 100% hood classic-

I still thnk the QTE of this fight is the best in term of coregraphy, gald you put it in, is my favorite of the entire saga
