It's cause he's the muscle of the three, he's cunning and kinda an asshole, but that's more of a yakuza thing. Instead of holding a sunflower orphan hostage at gunpoint, he goes all out man to man personally, and i love it. I wouldn't even think twice about buying a sequel where he undergoes something similar to majima.

I wanted so bad to play as Kuze. I grew up boxing and I loved how they made Kuze in the game, seeing how his character is a retired boxer. A lot of his movements are legit and I'm sure they had a pro boxer or MMA fighter do his mo cap.

I don't know, I gained some respect for him when he stood up a bit for Tachibana during the torture sequence and the final fight with Kiryu. He's resilient but he was basically always at the advantage at every fight. - He made you go through a gauntlet to get to him the first time. - Second time, he hit you with a pipe while on a motorbike at full speed then used the pipe to fight. - Third time, he was using techno-brass knuckles plus an army of dudes. I'd have more respect if he was honorable and fair but he was always starting the fight with the odds completely against you.

One thing I've come to love and understand is Kuze's dawning realization of why Kazama wanted to hold Kiryu back at the end, knowing full well that he had the power to overwhelm the entire Yakuza, Kuze himself not realizing this until he himself lost to him 5 times in a row, and the irony that Kiryu himself has the power he was given because of those three lieutenants own actions, a weapon of their own destruction carved out of their own flaws, sharpened and perfected from their own arrogance, how they themselves helped release the essence of a dragon, created from what mounted as little more that an innocent puppy, lying helplessly, begging on the floor. They themselves created everything Kiryu was destined to become due to his nature One thing I'd like to point out, is can you see how Kiryu is strangely the opposite of ALL THREE of the lieutenants PUT TOGETHER? He is the single being that can become a Ying to all three of their Yangs at once ... Awano wore flashy clothes, was greedy, cunning, and mercilessly extorted people in utmost cruelty. Kiryu wore shabby clothes, but was selfless, if a little naive, and mercifully helped any possible person who was in need. Kuze, arrogant, wanted fame and prestige, being known as the toughest of all, Kiryu was humble, and never passed any opportunity to bow in reverance as a nobody (I mean, look at the opening). Shibuzawa was cold and calculating, solitary, menacing, wanted nothing more than absolute power over everyone and everything. But Kiryu, he was open, warm hearted, never had excessive wit, (to the point he was a little clumsy at times), seeked out the help of others, and was fully content on being nothing more than a low level dog in the eyes of everyone else, not caring about anything, more money, fame, or power, never even challenging anyone to conquer selfishly, not wanting a single thing more than the privilege of wearing the Tojo clan pin on his chest as a servant of cruel and arrogant men who mistreated him, because that's what loyalty to Kazama meant (I mean, again, just look at when he delivers the money to the debt collector at the start) Can you see how all the above leads to the utmost irony that Kiryu effectively owes a third of the strength he gained from the start of the game to the finish to each of the three lieutenants? Like a dragon, gaining, or consuming something from each of his opponents after destroying them before the end, even if by force? This story, the plot and themes behind it were unparalleled in every way. The symbolism in the story is so unique and incredible, the writers clearly intended all of this, and it shines like a diamond in the sun, mere moments after the carefully placed cloud of mystery dissipates and moves away from it's gaze so it can shine in the light.

So what, you beat Kuze 5 times in this game. You think he's weak? Nah, Kuze is definitely the strongest boss in the entire series. Sure gameplay wise he's relatively "easy", but in terms of the story, Kuze stands above the others. For one, the guy just didn't stay down. No matter how many times you made him eat dirt, embarrass himself, or bleed, he kept coming back. He didn't let a loss stop him. His determination to kick your ass was just a man's pride, not even for the sake of the clan. He just wanted to be the one to beat you down. And he was always ready to fight... this fucker is easily the most resilient, determined, hardass boss in the franchise. Kuze is the definition of a Yakuza.

As I recall, the age of Daisaku Kuze is never revealed in Yakuza 0, but given the fact that he is based, & interpreted by Hitoshi Ozawa, his age should be 53 years old at that time(1988), so he should be 78 years old in Yakuza 6(2016) & currently he should be around 80 years old or so(2018); A badass old man indeed! 😎👍

Man. I wish Kuze was a secret boss fight in 6. Kiryu goes to some retirement home to talk to an old Yakuza captain, runs into Kuze in a wheelchair and blanket, the buildup to the theme starts, and Kuze rips off his blanket to show that he's still RIPPED AS HELL. Kuze: Did you think this was over? Think again! KIRYUUUUU! Kiryu: Bring it on! KUZEEEEE! "Former Dojima Family Lieutenant - Daisaku Kuze"

What makes this game so great and unique is these boss fights, sure you fought the same guy a few times throughout the story along with others, but Yakuza 0 handles them in the best way, i think music is a great way to solidify a boss fight into a memorable one. The way the rock riff kicks in as you start the fight just makes you get sucked right in and you are motivated to finish it and destroy whatever stands in your way. Kuze's especially were my favorite due to the music within that fight the first 3 times, even the last battle you have with him felt great with the music they gave you.
