The Raadha Kalpa Dance Company presents:
Yahi Madhava
Yahi Madhava is an Ashtapadi, (love poems of Radha and Krishna), from the Gitagovinda of Jayadeva. Radha is upset that Krishna is not next to her when she awakes. He then returns disheveled. As Radha finds signs of him being with someone else, her heart breaks with each instance of revelation and she tells Krishna to go away. She finds his eyelids heavy, and eyes red, she finds nailmarks on his body and the marks of red lac on his chest. She is so broken from his deceit that she accuses him of having no love and says his heart is sullied to have deceived someone who has loved him from the day she was born and asks him to leave. Radha and Krishna represent the Purusha, and Paramatma, and the idea that you cannot posses the universal truth. Only surrender to it.

    How beautiful! This would exactly be how radha reacted...so sweet...felt as if I was really watching both of them...and felt as if the camera could move to where she looked and show krishna...I actually anticipated to see him when the camera moved...how funny..

    Your dance is so realistic that my 1.5 yr old daughter understands the story behind maadu meikum kannae.and also the way you show the ball, hide and seek, paandi (in tamil), hop scktoch in Kaalinga Nartha - she recognises all of them.....she says ballu kaamichi meaning to show your Kalinga Narthanam. Watches uptill you throw it unto the river.

    Omg..same with my niece...she is 3 years old she ask us to play ball song(kaalinga ) by request and it's so good she goes and finds a ball throw it afar and say ball gonna into the water and start spinning on her knee and try mimicking you in her own way possible and for obvious reason no maadu meikum while she have her milk or food they can just make same as expression as you(acting krishna not interested in yummy milk ) and get away with it.Kids love love love you..it's so cool know there is a another kid loving this exactly same way..you elevate everyones taste and any kid who watch it will embrace our culture immediately and start loving our dance form in thier young age by themselves.just Thank you adding more color to this world by your art..

    Here is another story similar to the Celibacy Of the much married Sree Krishna. It is about Sage VyAsa's Upavasam on the day he wished to cross the river Yamuna in spate! The fasting while feasting! One day, Sage VyAsa wanted to cross the river Yamuna. The gopis were also waiting to cross the river Yamuna. But not a single boatman was to be seen on that day. The gopis were getting distressed by the undue delay. VyAsa spoke to them and said, ”I shall help you to cross the river. But I am very hungry now. Can you give me something to eat?’ The gopis gave Sage VyAsa the milk, cream and butter which they had with them. VyAsa ate till his hunger was appeased. He now spoke to the river Yamuna and said in a commanding voice, “If it is true that I have been fasting all day today, you must make way for all of us to cross you without any physical harm!” Lo and behold! The river opened up and showed them a narrow path to pass through it. They all hurried across the river by walking. But the gopis were getting confused thinking about the contradicting words spoken by the sage. He has feasted on the milk, cream and butter given by them. Yet he spoke of fasting the whole day and the river Yamuna also obeyed him - making his words absolutely true. HOW? Those innocent girls were ignorant of this fact. Even though the sage appeared to have eaten what they had offered him, those were actually eaten by the 'antharyAmi' who resides in every living jeeva. He does everything through us. He makes us do everything He wants to do. He enjoys everything through us. It was this firm belief that made the apparently contradicting words spoken by the sage absolute truth!

    If "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!" then The Earth has no sorrow like a woman cheated! Everyone loved Krishna. Everyone wanted Krishna. Lord Sri RAma must be thanked for putting Sree Krishna in this tight spot. Sree RAma remained 'Eka patni vrathan' and promised the numerous women who loved HIm, conjugal happiness and bliss in His future birth. So Krishna's life style and love life were decided - not by Himself but by Sree RAma. So while Sree RAma is praised as 'Eka paatni vrathan', Sree Krishna is labelled as a 'sthree-lOlan!' So even a God can't escape being judged by the others and has to suffer 'apa keerthi' or ill fame.

  • @dancerukmini

    @dancerukmini

    2 жыл бұрын

    It is not apa-keerthi in the case of Krishna at all. This is a misunderstanding by many. Krishna is a metaphor for the supreme consciousness, and all the gopikas, represent all of humanity. Even Jayadeva describes the union of Radha and Krishna the same way. Though it can be enjoyed literally as a story of two lovers, the philosophical meaning is what truly makes them Krishna and Radha. Eka patni in the case of Rama was because he was always depicted as human, as a king, as a son, a husband. Krishna is never attached to any role, he is always depicted as everything and nothing all at once. :-)

    @@dancerukmini May I say that Krishna is paramAtmA and all the living beings are the jeevaatmaas yearning to unite with the param. Those who imagine Krishna as an ordinary person with more wives and lovers than He could count speak ill of Him. I am aware of the fact that Krishna represents the Universal conscience, Universal intellect and the universal potency.🙏🙏🙏

    @@visalakshik.raman.6278 There is an incident in the MAHABHARAT where Vyasa says that only a celibate, a brahmachari can revive the dead child Parikshit. All the ascetics and yogis fail, but Krishna, with 16,008 wives, touches the baby and he comes back from the dead. Vyasa then tells everyone present that Brahmacharya is a state of mind, where the mind is fixed in Brahmabhava forever, and perceive everything as manifestation of the Eternal Principle. Beautiful story with a lot of meaning.

    An interesting story on how TIME changes everything - including one's good reputation. Apa keerthi. When a person’s time is not favorable, he would be accused of actions which he had never performed. This is the story of how Krishna was branded as a thief by his own loyal people. Sathrajith was a devotee of Sun God - who became very pleased with his sincere devotion and presented him the Syamanthaka mani - a rare gem as brilliant as the Sum himself. The gem would ward off all evil powers, famines, ill health and accidents etc. Krishna wanted it to be presented to the King UgrasEnan, but Sathrajith refused to do so and kept it for himself! Later Sathrajith's brother PrasEnan wore this gem round his neck when he went out for hunting. A lion killed him and took away the gem - mistaking it for something edible. Jambavan killed the lion and gave this gem to his child to play with. Everybody thought that Krishnan was the gem - thief. So He had to set out looking for the gem - to clear His own name. Krishna followed the tracks of the lion and then the bear and reached the cave where JAmbavAn lived. They both fought for 28 days continuously - without victory or defeat for anyone! Finally JAmbavAn realized that Krishna was none other than his beloved Lord Sree RAmA. He presented the gem Syamanthaka as well his daughter JAmbavathy to KrishnA. Krishna’s name was finally cleared.

    The character of Radhe is always and essentially female in aspect, so am not sure how that would play. The point is that she is Krishna's other half and female side, so to change her sex or how it is performed would detract from that. Alternatively--the epic hero protagonist of the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna, is male in aspect and said by some to have been a beloved romantic/erotic companion and soulmate of Krishna, as Radhe is--perhaps there is a dance out there based on their relationship? Or someone could choreograph one?
