I always love watching yago surf. His cutbacks are not talked about because cutbacks generally aren't super critical, but his look sooo good. Pulling that air straight from takeoff was absolutely nuts. Well deserved win. The crowd made me hate watching this heat and the one against jjf though. Hearing people cheer for the other surfer's failures made me sad. If you have a favorite cheer for them; cheer louder even, but cheering for falls is super disrespectful. You should lift people up without pushing others down.

Agreed, the crowd definitely won the bad sportsmanship award. Here in Australia we don't applaud mistakes no matter who it is. Obrigado

Amazing skill displayed by Yago. I'm stoked for him. Having said that, I really hope EE wins a world title one day. It's an absolute pleasure to see him on a surfboard.

These are two of my absolute favorite surfers, so happy to see them in the finals! Congrats yago, this win was a long time coming!

That 10 was beautiful but also impressive was how Ethan somehow surfed that last warbly reform to make it even look like a wave let alone get a 6 haha wow

Yago definitely deserved the win. But that 360° air, despite the ultra smooth landing, should have been scored around 8 points, IMHO. Judgement has been all over the place lately.

Why is the crowd applauding when a surfer doesn't complete a wave? I understand the whole Brazilian pride thing but that's just outlandishly rude and unsportsmanlike.

WSL .. please explain to us one and all why you take a break while broadcasting your product . We’re watching the final, or any other heat , and there’s a cut to a break and the momentum and surfing is forgotten while you show a wide angle of nothing .

Well earned win by Dora, but I don't ever want to hear another complaint about a Brazilian not getting the score or getting robbed in a final. Kinda sucked hearing the crowd cheer with every EE mistake or fall. Never seen that before.

That sucks. I understand you even tho i'm brazillian... I also hate what the crowd did, unfortunately most people here cheer like that because of soccer matchs... People here they literally fight for defending their teams honour, lets put it that way.. But i still don't understand well their motivation on doing that, but it is what it is... Saddly that soccer mentality is developing in the cheering on the brazillian crowd... My english is not that great, but i hope u got it. Have a great day my friend.

Yago !! Such a well surfed event. Couldn't be a more deserved win!! That crowd shits me though, clapping when non nationals fall, just seems petty, but hey...., at least they're honest. Worst wave on tour, for sure. but was fun to watch.

Couple of replays and slow mo’s of the 10 would be ideal......

Agreed. It was a sick move but Yago does these in his sleep. They usually throw 8’s at these types of airs. To be a 10 it has to be something super tweaked out and rarely pulled. Regardless, Yago won the final handily.

@@leonardodias8849Yago sticks these in his sleep. Judges nearly always throw 8’s at these, especially when it’s only one move. Also, Rio did an air that was more original and tweaked out and he didn’t get anywhere near a 10 for it. Regardless, Yago definitely won the final.

Não viaja. Filipinho meteu um parecido com condições bem melhores e levou um 10. As condições estavam desfavoráveis e ainda sim ele mandou esse air reverse perfeito. Nota 10 sim e se fosse o JJ seria merecido tmb

Lack of respect is WSL that doesn't announces The judgement rules for each different pro tour. I am brazilian and I don't agree with 10 in The Dora's aereo. A wave of one maneuver. But The crowd screaming it is all right!

Good on Yago. That air was sweet, but a far cry from a 10. Total home team score. Also pretty pathetic they couldn’t wait until the tide changed more. Finals had the worst of conditions. Warbly, fat burgers mostly with a single close out air section.👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Congrats to Yago, well deserved. Whoever decided to run the finals during a mushy high tide should be fired. Both these talented athletes deserve better than the shitshow the WSL delivered. Fucking shameful.

I believe surf is probably the most artistic and fantastic Sport maybe sometimes a little dangerous.🙄

Ethan can't do an air like that even in his dreams, so how can he complain? To cry about a score in a wave like that, he first need to be able to at least do some decent air, what he can't.

Let’s be honest we all know if ethan won he wouldn’t make it out of there

Unfortunately Brazilians are not well liked in the surf community - i think the crowds behaviour might be one (of many) reasons

I hope they remove the Brazil contest from now on, could you imagine fans booing every time a Brazilian surfer stands up, they would protest racism, but it’s okay for them to do that to Ethan, they should be embarrassed by their behaviour.

Yagos first wave was way better surfed than Ethan's and still had a lower score. Yagos turn were more critical and he finished the wave while Ethans couldn't. This immediately shows off how biased the WSL judges are. Luckly for Yago he dropped that jawdropping air to let everyone speechless. Go Yago, well deserved!
