This song sounds closer to their older stuff and I love it! I wasn't a fan of the more pop-like sound they were using recently. But this sounds like a good mixture of both old and new. Can't wait to listen to the new album!

Yessss, I was hoping you would do a reaction to this one! I haven't stopped smiling since it came out on Friday. I love this song and the video is incredible. There's so much going on in it, so many call-backs to previous albums and songs and a continuation of the jester's storyline. It's just amazing. The new album will be out on April 29th and the Poets have described the genre as "cinematic rock". I think we're in for a massive treat with this and I really hope you'll react to the entire album once it's out.

Nice to see reactions to this band ❤️ They deserve so much more attention! I always get little nervous too when I see that my favorite bands are releasing new music... What if I don't like it? Well with Poets it usually don't happen 😉 I see you have found my another favorite band Nightwish. But have you heard Amorphis?

I'm glad you finally posted this one. I was wondering if you were going to wait till the livestream. I'm blown away by this song. Honestly better than anything they have made in their last two albums. They have set some pretty incredible expectations for the album when it comes out.

Hell yes for new songs from this band. And the track record continues, they still have yet to release a song I don't like. So it's been a while but figured I'll share at least my current interpretation for the newest song. For me it's a song about looking back but moving on. The Harlequin to me represents the concept of foolish youth (this is somewhat reflected by the tarot cards in the video which I'll talk about in a minute). It's also been a recognizable motif the band has used previously for videos like Daze. But then we have the phrase requiem which generally refers to remembrance. So the title of the song basically by that comes out to remembrance of foolish past. Throughout the video this is emphasized in various ways. The harlequin in this music video is much rougher than previous renditions. He looks older and his paint is a bit messier. On top of this towards the end we start seeing Marko start removing the makeup and outfit (something the harlequin is very much not happy about. Basically the idea that Marko as a character is recogizing that the time has come to move on/grow up/whatever and let his foolish past come to a close even if it may not be the most happy farewell. Finally we get to the tarot cards. Three cards are drawn. The fool, death, and the magician. The fool geerally depicts new beginnings. It represents inexperience and kind of a naivete. Death is obvious though it can represent more than literal death. Often it is taken to represent simply the end of something. Finally we have the third card the magician. This card suggest achievement. Kind of the idea that you have the talents and skills you just need to put in the effort to succeed. This mirrors my early point about growing up. Basically the foolish naivete of youth (potential tie in with theming here as this concept was previously mentioned in the song King of Fools) comes to an end and now with the skills and experience you have you are ready to move on. Just like Marko's character is shedding the harlequin in favor of his more "adult" professional look. Finally there's the letter blocks. At the start of the video and in a brief flash in the middle they are shown to read "Forever Lost" but then at the end they are switched around to instead spell Lovers forte, aka Lovers strength again fitting into that idea of moving on from inexperienced youth to the more capable skill that comes from experience. There's also a couple other bits like the back and forth chess game with the two players moving the king back and forth endlessly and the lyrics about "your chains are porcelain" aka whats holding you back is easily broken and "like a phoenix we will rise again" which is a classic symbol of rebirth and moving past hardship or a fall.

Now that the "Ghostlight" album has dropped will you be reacting to the rest of the songs on the album? In my opinion it's the best album "Poets of the Fall" have released and I have already listened through it 7 times now!
