由良川源流 と 芦生の森 │ Yura river runs through Ashiu forest , Kyoto
京都府南丹市の由良川源流域にある芦生(あしう)という山村集落に大阪から移住し、現在は京都大学の研究林である「芦生の森」でネイチャーガイドとして活動されている岡優香さんは、同じく大阪から移住されてきた夫である岡佑平さんとともに、「芦生山の家」の運営をベースとして自然との向き合い方、楽しみ方を日々紹介されています。この森は京都大学の研究用として長年保護されてきましたので、あまり一般的には認知されていませんが、その原生林は「関西最後の秘境」とも呼ばれ貴重な植物の宝庫となっています。また、芦生より少し下流域では現在、北陸新幹線の延伸による長大トンネルや大橋脚の計画が進められており、この南丹市美山の自然豊かな環境が今、大きな岐路に立たされています。

The Yura River flows through the mountainous region of northern Kyoto. There is a small village called 芦生(Ashiu) at its source, and there is a beautiful forest around it. Yuka Oka moved to this village from the city and currently works as a guide in this forest. And she lives peacefully in this village with her family. However, large-scale railway development is currently being planned in this area, and there are concerns about natural destruction.

今日、この原生林に行ってきました。 岡さんたちにもお会いしました。 芦生の森の鹿の食害は深刻なダメージを受けており、景色が全く変わったとおっしゃられる昔の風景を想像したら、これ以上ほんまに何もないようにと願うばかりでした。 今も芦生は美しく、心が打たれて、源流にたどり着いた時泣きそうになりました。 この場所で想いをもって暮らしてくださっている方々は、かみさまみたいでした。

鹿の食害も人間の欲も自然の摂理と言ってしまえばそれまでですが、 創造性を持つ唯一の生き物である人間だけが、その自然を美しいとか偉大とか感じているはずですので、 芦生で感じられたその感情は、“なにか”に気づかれているんだと思います😊
本当にその通りです。 小さい時から芦生に通ってますがあの場所だけは変わってほしくないものです。

I love this documentary so much my friend! I watched it last night on my TV while eating dessert :) You produced a very informative and meaningful film to highlight the importance of conservation and preservation of nature. I found it to be a very heartwarming and meaningful video. I felt moved by the dedication of the family who take care of the Ashiu Forest. I learned a lot and felt very grateful to you! Thank you for your interest in this documentary! In Japan, construction companies have strong ties to politicians. Their money-making logic is very outdated and aesthetically devoid of sense, and they bury all nature and culture in concrete.
