I would say that from all the KZread recipes, this one is the closest to the original. Original has more ghee but I prefer Tehmish's approach to reduce the amount of ghee and oil! Good video, good advice and for sure worth trying (as a chef).

I went specially for this daal which is cooking in desi gee but unfortunately my kids didn't like the test but the chicken boti was amazing and achar ghosht was fantastic as well

Loved your recipe. Tried it today, amazing taste ,even though I totally forgot to add in yougurt. Also I separately fried onions cause I thought it could over power the taste of ghee & garlic. So separately fried garlic in ghee and also added chopped green chilles in them in end. Thanks for sharing this lovely recipe with us. Regards

Having heard about the taste of this DAAL from a number of sources, I stopped at this eatery on my way to Islamabad some years back. Except that it tasted of excessive use of desi ghee (God knows pure or not), it could hardly be called a delicacy. With simple home recipe, my wife has been cooking a much more delicious DAAL for years. Some of us like to eat out just for change of taste......believe me any recipe with lots of publicity drum-beating behind it, will make it taste great. The original time tested saying is not without reason: گھر کی مرغی دال برابر۔
