Thanks you for your weekly video, Scott. I feel like going see a movie, Katsu Yoshi Hirano. Our friends have built their brand new house. We did a potluck party and celebrated them. It was a wonderful Sunday afternoon today. This week you focused on the number in English. We have a large number of mistakes in your class. I don't really think that I'm a numbers person. No good at calculate and dealing with numbers. I don't usually see the numbers on the statistics. 'Cause I'd like to live all by myself, on my Todd. You're confused when you hear our English. 'Cause we've learnt something wrong at school. Or we directly translate Japanese into English. So that's why you make videos every week. You're trying to pull us to the right direction. I'm so lucky 'cause I'm not alone. It's not only me to make a mistake. I'm not the only one to break a leg. Maybe it's just me, but I speak better English . I'll give it my best shot to pass the exams.

I make my weekly videos hoping that they will touch a nerve or make people think twice about how they are speaking English. Numbers may seem like a simple topic, but it's amazing how many people are not so good at describing how many people were in their group etc. I'm confused when I hear this kind of thing, but we have to move forward and help people say it the right way. Translating directly from Japanese into English can be a good thing, but in most cases it doesn't make a great deal of sense. Don't worry.You're not alone. Everyone is making similar mistakes. Hello Scott ! Thanks for the very useful lessons as always. The difference between " the three of us " and " three of us " often confused me.　　Now, the problem solved! By the way, " All by myself " is a song that often stick in my mind too. I loved the original version by Eric Carmen , who unfortunately passed away earlier this year. And I know why that song attracts many people.. That's because some of his works were inspired by Rachmaninoff's most beautiful melodies that has captured the hearts of many people over time.　　It's so beautiful !

It can be kind of confusing for some people and I was delighted to hear that you could have a deeper understanding of, 'the three of us." It's such a useful language pattern to use in a conversation. The song, "All by myself" is definitely a song which has stuck in my mind for years, kind of like the classic TV commercial starring Ichiro Zaitsu "Piano utte chodai." He also sadly passed away recently, just like Eric Carmen. I'm not sure whether or not I should be comparing that catchy melody with the incredible works inspired by Rachmaninoff, but it was truly memorable. Have a great day!!✨

Good morning, Hannah!💐 It's funny that the SMAP song is all about you. I wonder if your parents sang it to you when you were a little girl. Your role-play is the ideal scenario that I love to see when a person is going to be all alone in an English lesson. Unfortunately, there are some beginners who tend to panic when they know that they are in for a solid hour of nothing but English. When the session is over, they leave the class and almost fall to their knees in the lobby. After a few months though, they do get more used to the language but it can be tough at first. If I were taking a group Japanese lesson and found myself with the teacher all to myself one day, I'd have a long list of things that I'd want to ask about and practice. I'm sure you would be exactly the same. It's a golden opportunity! Cheers for now!✨

Hello there!☺️ Thanks so much for watching and for your question. Your sentence was almost correct, but I would change the word 'of,' as it sounds a bit clunky. I would say something like this: Is it only me in the lesson today? Is it just me in today's lesson? Am I the only person in the lesson today? Those are much smoother to say and seem much more natural. Using 'of' is kind of a tricky area for a lot of people. Of course we use it all the time, but it can sound unnatural if you're not careful. I hope that all makes sense. Cheers!✨

It's a very endearing way of speaking. Just me --> Just little old me When we add the word 'old' into a sentence, it can help to soften it and add a nice, homely feel to it. It's often used with 'big' and 'little.' - I had a big old hamburger for dinner last night. - We saw a big old bear when we were camping. - She has a big old cup of coffee every morning.
