We have seen the mobile home business come such a long way. In the old days most people referred to mobile homes as a trailer house. However some of the manufactured homes we carry are far from “trailer houses.”

This is definitely a unique home. The lack of a dining room could be a dealbreaker for some, but for me, I don’t mind. The kitchen is great, but the rest of the rooms seem very small. I used to live in a mobile home, and the bedrooms were much bigger. And my master bathroom had a deep garden tub AND a separate shower. It was a 16’ x 80’.

My grandparents had similar floor plan in the early 70's. My dad's parents had the kitchen at the front with a bar that divided the kitchen and living room area and my mom's parents had a similar plan to this one. Back then trailer houses had character and wasn't a bland box with boxes inside for rooms.

I enjoy looking at the double and triple wide mobile homes with all of the extras, but honestly I feel that people choose mobile homes usually because they're an affordable option. My dad taught me how to use power tools and I've personally remodeled entire rooms in my house from the studs, to plumbing and electrical. They come in much bigger sizes too. Can even get a 2 story one. The mobile homes are tied down using heavy metal straps connected to anchors driven into the ground. The number and type used depends on the size and type of the mobile home and where you live. Areas that are known for high winds such as tornadoes and hurricanes, require more tie downs and types of tie downs than areas that don't. All mobile homes are required to be tied down according to strict codes set by our federal, state, and local governments here in the USA.

  • @jenniferrogers2624

    @jenniferrogers2624

    10 ай бұрын

@@gigicostlow4414my childhood mobile home was a older model I think it was in the 1960's. When we moved it the county required a full concrete pad with tied down points in the concrete. Not only was it tied down on the belly of the trailer there was straps that went over the top and anchored to the concrete. To this day I have not seen another trailer tied down that way. Ive never asked my dad why it was done like that. Your comment made me think of how our was. I also wanted to add that yes there are requirements and guidelines set in place for mobile homes. But there are those that counties who dont do inspections so there for many dont do tie downs. In fact the county I live in now dont do inspections for mobile home placements on personal property. Now if they are rental homes that accepts government payments for rent then yes they are inspected. It blows my mind seeing mobile homes on bricks that are stacked taller than I am without being properly tied down.

This is a very cleverly designed floor plan. I would change the desk nook area into storage, to have somewhere to put a vacuum, broom and mop. The island is huge, so I would make it two levels: about one-third as a normal island with no seating, and on the side where the left stool is (but facing the fridge), put a drawer microwave so you don't need to take up counter space with the microwave. Then lower the right two-thirds of the island to create a table height area where four chairs can fit around it, or even five with a chair on the end. If you need to extend the island out a little further that's fine, as there is plenty of room between the kitchen and the living room. I would bring the upper cabinets in the kitchen all the way to the ceiling for more storage space (harder to reach, so for seldom-used items). If you moved the master closet to where the closet/water heater/linen are, you could easily access it from the bedroom and reconfigure the master bath to have a much bigger tub/shower with the water heater tucked away in the back corner. But overall, excellent design.

Luxurious for a single-wide mobile home! I would suggest trying to have showers "walk-in" because that's what people prefer these days. They don't have to be huge...just a lower step in to avoid the big step getting in. Not having a separate dining area could be a problem for people. I have 10 adults and if you start including the significant others that's a lot of people to cram into seating area so I don't know what I would do unless setting up extra tables for those times would leave enough room for the space to be functional.. Possibilities. The addition of a little bonus area back by the first bedroom is great! Perfect for a home office for a craft area which is big these days. The bedrooms are very small. It's good you only sleep there but from the perspective of making beds that can be real tricky in a mobile home. Some of us are no longer able to navigate those small spaces. Please, when you design these spaces, consider cleaning these spaces too.

@CoffeeCrazy yes. It is where the interior wall prefab panels come together. They are already covered in wallpaper, the the joints are covered by the little strips. You get used to it quickly and don't notice. They are paneled this way for movement. They are delivered by semi and can be moved. A rigid wall would crack badly with all the movement. I love the color themes throughout the single wide, especially the flooring. The only thing I didn't like was having the walk in closet in the bathroom. That is not a good thing for the clothes, mold and mildew can grow.

Interesting floor plan. The thing with a single wide is to avoid wasted space. That's why two bedrooms up front gets rid of a long hallway. Drop the island, add more drawer over on the counter top side of the kitchen then you could have a patio door. Basically an acceptable plan. I think you showed me one better.

@@cindyrinaldi3064 @johnmanthey2683 There is no dining table set in this smaller kitchen. The island is the only eating space for meals. And great storage. Genius. I guess you can just use t.v. trays in the living room area. LOL

I agree with comments regarding the master closet. Also why does that door swing INTO the closet!? It would hit all the clothes and he would have toclose the door and stand inside to get to the stuff behind it. Closet doors swing out.

Nice, you just need a little room in the hall to get a full-size bed in that first bedroom, but a twin would fit nicely.

We bought one and enjoying the simplicity but we're going to add a surrounded awning and another conjoined bedroom with bath/shower to give more space for family and visitors. Planning on putting it on 3/4 acre lot to have a large enclosed backyard with gardens of flowers/fruits/vegetables plenty of shade trees with an outdoor kitchen and pit. Can't wait!

The best and most interesting MH I ever visited had 2 kitchens, and it was an incredible double wide. Off the charts for anyone who wants to bake and produce food products and baked goods as a cottage industry. Much easier to maintain industry standards, with hygiene rules/regs in certain states. If I ever see another like that I won't hesitate.

I do like this. I don't generally like single width mobile homes due to the hallway feel. Long and narrow. This breaks it up nicely. Perfect for my husband and I, he'd have his music room and I can have a hobby room. I like the little office nook. Doesn't have to share the music or hobby room.

I think for someone that doesn't have a house full of kids I love it. Very pretty. ❤ I'm not quite sure I would want to put my craft room/office by my bedroom. On the other hand I do like the bathrooms and how one is a walk in shower. I lth big counter top in the mbr.

I love everything about this home ❤️ my only hang up is, I don't like my closet in the master bathroom. I just prefer it to be in the master bedroom instead and my vents in the ceiling rather than the floor. But, it just an absolutely gorgeous home for a single wide 😍🥰🙌🏽

Nice for starter home. My home has master bedroom and bath on one end and two bedrooms with bath on the other end. Living room and kitchen in middle with hidden laundry room and pantry across from back door and it's perfect! I do like the windows in the kitchen here...too bad it doesn't have sheetrock and crown molding like I have.

Hi Chance...I can't believe how far you've come since I first started watching you..remember those platinum blonde days...lol Even before, but getting to this single...nice price...nice layout...but man o man did I get dizzy with all those crazy floor, wall and counter top designs...to much for me...I would for sure have to change all of that...just give me a simple floor and wall with a nice countertop...but the rest is very doable...I've been saying that the prices were going to drop and it looks like it has somewhat but I still think it will drop more...I could live very comfortably in this one..another great video..keep'em rolling and I'll be watching 😊

I have to say this is so refreshing. Here In Texas they are so plain. Finally someone who had taste and creativity. This is very nice! Also I would love to see the vintage design come back concerning the kitchen. I remember the kitchens at one end of the home where you had to step up into the kitchen. It has a beautiful bay window and also railings. I think it could be zazzed with a little modern design but stepping up into the kitchen would be really cool and I think it would be a popular new idea. Question? Are there still 18ft single wide homes?. Thanks

I like it a lot but if i had the money id rather have tape and texture walls because after awhile the trim on the board type walls seems to start flexing and pulling loose(shrinkage?) And i dont like the fact that the closet is so close to the shower(moisture) but i love the unique floor plan. If it was me id arrange the couch on the same wall as the kitchen sink and put the tv in the corner near the front door so whoever is working in the kitchen could look over to see the tv
