The move on the 2nd ball at 4:03 is insane. It truly is insane. Look at Teller's face. He literally said "wow".

pause at 4:04 exactly and you see when he throw the ball from his left hand before it became empty, every time he squeeze the ball to be very small so it's hard to follow.

I got a little obsessed with it and cheated by slowing down the video to see how it was done. The accuracy and speed was absolutely amazing

@@KlLLER6 Same. I tried looking myself, but couldn't see anything. So I reduced the speed to 0.25x, and still couldn't see anything. I think it was on my 6th or 7th rewatch at 0.25x speed I spotted it. It's absolutely incredible how well that move holds up even to the intense scrutiny playback enables.

Penn said he is the 'Shin Lim' of sponge balls. Now, that's an honour for Xulio Merino, as well as Shin Lim (being quoted as the benchmark)

@@markas_js *Yeah, Shin Lim is awesome and even though I'm a big fan of him, I thought it was a bit premature to use his name as a benchmark. He's too new still. But none the less, Xulio was awesome in his own right.*

Could it be also that he did the same thing as him? As in shin used cards and they expected the same thing but got something new and exciting.

@jodyb1095

@@AzNightmare He wasn't naming Shin Lim because he's like the benchmark for magic. Shin Lim is the benchmark for taking a gimmicky effect (e.g. smoke) and turning it into something really beautiful and original.
4:04 you can see how quickly he throws down the second ball out of his left hand. It's so fast that there is no way you could see it without video footage.
After watching the entire performance in .25, I can see most of what he did, however, it's one thing to know what he did and quite another to know how to do it. What you did takes a lot of skill and talent. Well Done!
*Because of the advantage of video playback (in slow motion) on KZread, I was able to follow most of the tricks with an idea how it was done until the very end when he kept making 3 balls... lol. The slight of hand is simply next level and that's what I appreciate the most. Even down to how he ditches sponges, right in plain sight, as simple as just dropping it behind the table while he places a sponge down at the same time to conceal it, it was so perfect and it would not have been picked up in a live performance.*

HEAVY HEARTS wow. Just wow. And thank you, upon seeing your comment (and reviewing that couple of seconds about 30 times) I was able to make out what he did. I’m not sure I can say I “saw” it, but I know what he did. Simply an amazing performance.

@@DespairNemesis better yet, I learned from a comment a while ago: When the video is paused, you can go forwards and backwards *frame by frame* with . and , buttons (dot forward, comma back). I didn't see anything in .25 speed, but with that method it can be seen really nicely, and to me that makes his sleight of hand even MORE impressive!
one of the best performances ive seen on this show so far
Excellent routine ! So very different from what we usually see on FU and not a deck of cards in sight ! That’s a treat ! No one uses sponge balls for some reason, and much like the loathed “linking rings”, they get a bad rap. I really like sponge balls and after this, I love them ! I don’t care how he did it and don’t really want to know. This was magical and I Loved it ! Thanks for sharing ! 🎭

It was awesome. Penn explains it perfectly, it went from beginner stuff to more and more challenging to never seen before to just impossible. It was quite the ride and the trick was escalating in difficulty and seemed to have no end. Great stuff.
This is my favorite magic act ever. I love the roller coaster of emotions from spiritual type magic to just absolute silliness all while blowing my mind
Has to be the best at sleight of hand, or black magic. No other possibilities! Loved the act!

Best sleight of hand, you can see almost all the tricks at x0,25 speed, that goes to show how amazing he is though.

Absolutely amazing. I usually run to the "REVEALED" videos, but this performance is different. I don't want to know how the magic is done. It's too perfect. Feels like real magic. Such a stunning and spectacular performance. Loved every second of it.
My first comment here because he was amazing, humble and lovely.
I know everyone mentioned it already but man the sleight of hands at 4:04 is one of those things where even when you know how it's done it's even better
That was just beautiful.
Loved this act. The sponge balls hold a dear place in my heart, it was the first trick I saw and the first trick I actually learned when I was about 4 years old at the old magic shop at knotts berry farm in the wild west section. This act genuinely made me smile the entire time because he's taught himself tricks traditionally done with other props like the infinite water bowl trick, and penn and teller's own magic song. Beautiful display of skill, can only dream of how he did it.

5:47 Teller's smile says it all!
Penn's look at 1:55 is amazing. Sure Teller was amazed as well... 4:07 when Penn gives up hope of ever understanding the trick. Teller is amazed for real this time, I mean he says wow...
*NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH SPONGE MAGICIAN!*
Oh my god im so happy for him that was the funnest trick to watch! He makes me so happy he has a great smile
That's gonna keep me up at night
I love your act so much. Such a good climax with a slow beginning and than ending with throwing a thousand spongeballs on allison! Appreciate your work! Greeting from germany
Shin lim of sponge balls - and You deserve this title, great job man
Dude you made something as simple as sponge balls that Pen and Teller said was “beginner’s magic” into an incredibly insane trick, great job loved the performance
THAT was amazing and I have to disagree with Penn on saying sponge balls is "hack" or amateurish, which when a magician rags on something like that it's because they can't do it.....it's not a self working trick and actually takes practice to even do on a basic level. Any magic that actually takes place in the the spectators hands is the strongest magic you can do, this guy is smart. I will be buying his book as soon as hit the comment button!

It's not that it isn't hack or amateurish but it's used to teach kid magicians the importance of palming, loading, stealing and etc.. and it gives a great effect, however what Xulio did inventing a whole new category of pure sponge ball magic, is a tad too many steps beyond basic sponge ball magic, I can't even imagine how many hours he has spent creating and perfecting these tricks, but seeing as his first YT video is from 2012 and there is a slightly poor palming in that video, and that's just 1 slightly bad palming out of several near perfect palms in that video. I guess he started practicing in 2011 or 2010 And in 9 maybe 10 years, that's really amazing to think how far he's driven these tricks. The persistence is amazing in and of itself, then creating the performance around the tricks, chaining them together so beautifully is an art itself that takes time and effort. It's not just any simple trick it's truly taking the simplest lowest and lousiest tricks and mastering them beyond belief.
I watched almost all of Penn & Teller, and this is the only video that I keep watching over and over right now im at 8+ times :D amazing performance great magician!
the shin lim of sponge balls ,truly amazing
That move at 4:04 is so smooth that even once I understood it I couldn't see it at half speed. Beautiful magic.

The whole routine/performance is amazing. I watched it plenty of times and it always delighted me. I got one question though. After watching so many times, never in slow motion, I thing I saw Allison doing something at the beginning of her participation.... Of course it doesn’t mean I know how you did it. You fooled the crap out of me Amazing performance!!!
