Xuefei has quickly become my favorite classical guitarist!

Complex pieces, played beautifully from memory...I find that mind boggling. It's no wonder that so many are in awe of this young woman!

still remember a show performed by her for a small group of Guitar players in Beijing back to 30 years ago. She was 12 only ... Such a talented player !

Well.... lucky me..... living in Norfolk and by chance finding at last , a local concert by Xuefei Yang in a wonderful setting of a ruined abbey in August..... Just waiting for tickets..... this lady is in the top six of the world's best classical guitarists ..... and in women's top 3 - can't wait to hear her.... definitely one of my concert highlights this year

As a violinist who has played the Bach I can say she has an excellent hold on the work. Compelling technique and splendid performance.

She is a brilliant musician,it's refreshing to see that even the best professionals make mistakes, I do not in any way mean that in a negative way,It just assures me that my mistakes are are normal,especially with Bach!

I have been playing a variety of guitars for over 40 years, and have listened to and heard perform many of the best classical guitarists.... from the 'oldies' like Segovia, Williams , Bream, Solchaer etc etc all with there own individual superb techniques - - to the 'newcomers' like Ogden, Karadazgic and now this wonderful player Xuefei Yang. First heard of her recently on ClassicFM, playing a brilliant version of the Bach violin concerto in gminor presto movement. First heard it done by one of my guitar heroes - Dominic Miller, but Xuefei Yang's version for me, takes it up another gear.... What a shame that she is only performing for one night in this country this year - in my old home area on 25 July - Guiting Power Music Festival..... when now I am some 180 miles away..... just my luck... If you can get there - for 18-00p tickets lucky you - but only a few left.... !!!!

@@johnmartlew5897 As someone who occasionally needs to fly to the other side of the world to hear music like this, 180 miles is hardly more than a walk. Even local music often involves several hours travel.

The first piece is Sonata in G Minor, BWV 1001, by JS Bach. Bach wrote this sonata for the solo violin. Yang may have transcribed it herself. The movements are: I. Adagio II. Fuga III. Siciliana IV. Presto

I love her tone.

It's often stunning that regional music is so good. New York, London or Vienna will often only give presentations of music that gets done to death. Find a musician who is different and chances are that it's not in one of these cities.

That's a big programme, not just 'lolly pops and bon bons' as Julian Bream calls the choice of the big favourites. Lovely concert. The guitar, I know nothing about but as a touring musician you can't be carrying around a choice of instruments its probably just a matter of which one makes the best breakfast.

Butterfly Lovers. From the 1960's China "new" experiments....... Still have a 78 rpm vinyl of the original performing artist in my MIL basement. Tks for the transcription and Miss Yang performance. Love it.

It's a shame there is only one camera focusing on her. A close-up of her hands across the guitar and her face would have added wonderful dimensions to this delightful post. She is so calm and personable in speaking with the audience. An added benefit to her stunning performance.

Seeing the number of times that Xuefei recognises a bad string tuning and retunes, without an on-board digital tuner, has me making a comparison with the ability of musicians of today to deal with the issue expeditiously without technology?

La primera pieza suena a Bach; no se porque no aparece entre las piezas mencionadas arriba.

Can I request that the description get updated? I saw in the comments that about a year ago it was going to be updated and it doesn't look clear at all. I'm have a difficult time trying to figure out if some of the pieces listed are correct. Cross comparing the video with google says that she has a jobim piece played that isn't even listed, Could we get the description fixed with proper titles, time stamps and recognition for the artist composer what have you? Thanks much, Just trying to help everyone find all the music they want to hear.

Toca maravillosamente, pero en la obra Cielo Abierto, falta escuchar el ritmo propiamente dicho,. Es una amasijo de notas que no hace sentir el espíritu de la misma. En fin, por lo demás una gran guitarrista,

Excelente como sempre, o Bach não estava muito firme. Muitos erros de quem já tocou isto com precisão.

No doubting her virtuosity. Maestra however has moments where she has a technical hiccup but covers herself well. The Smallman guitar has lots of legroom for power/projection and drives like a race car, but its lyrical quieter capabilities are harsh at times. The Jobim love songs need more thought in terms of imparting tenderness, and she rushes too much through them. Day in the life a fool was ruined- played too mechanically. As a student of voice, I was trying to imagine Orpheu singing passionately in his favela shack as in the movie but just got lambasted by the Smallman tone and no interpretive thought.

So what's wrong with that? She (they) have to put in their 100's of hours just like I (we) do. I live in New Mexico and she lives somewhere else (maybe China) but the sun come up and goes down with equal time in between for all of us that WANT to practice and better our life/s in music. She is just better than me but that does not mess with my love of and for music. Sounds like sour grapes.....maybe?

@@MrPHart Como "uvas agrias" no, hombre. Lo que me molestó del comentario, es que a los músicos orientales se les compare con "máquinas de tocar" siempre. No se cuantas horas estudia Xuefei, lo que si se (basta con escucharla), es que es un músico sensible y expresivo. Y no es poco.
