🔷 ABOUT SAMCRAFT 🔷
Samcraft is a channel all about educating, inspiring, motivating, encouraging, and sharing the things I've learned since starting my own small business in 2018.
In today's video I take you step by step through the process of cleaning the lens and mirrors of the xTool P2 55 watt desktop CO2 laser. This is a task that should be performed daily before you use your laser. Dirty lenses or mirrors will cause your machine's performance to dwindle. This will result in bad quality engravings or poor cutting performance. What causes the xTool P2 to not cut as well as before? You guessed it, dirty mirrors and lens!

    I love the way you do the videos. You are knowledgeable, go at a pace that I can work alongside, and do it from a viewpoint that can be seen (a lot of people do not do this). The other thing I like is that while you are super knowledgeable and giving great instruction, you don't make me feel like an idiot. Thank you for the good videos. Also love your ETSY liste jigs!

    Another tip for CO2 lasers is to use the laser at least once or twice a week to keep the tube charged for the laser. If prolonged storage or no usage of the laser the laser tube will lose the charge over time. Glass tubes last about 2-4 years depending on usage.

  • @Samcraftcom

    @Samcraftcom

    Жыл бұрын

    The third mirror was cleaned at setup, but is otherwise not exposed to the fumes hardly at all compared to the others. To clean that one, you remove the rear back cover (about 12 screws). I cleaned the camera lenses, just skipped putting that in great detail in this already long video for the process. I wipe down the interior of the machine often with micro fiber cloths and such.

    That's the average lifespan of the CO2 tube in the back. You can buy replacements and keep on going. :)

  • @heffe2001
    @heffe2001 Жыл бұрын

    I'm loath to admit that I don't clean my Co2 laser nearly as often as I should.. One thing that you didin't mention in the 'how often' section, a dirty lens or mirror can actually be damaged by the laser, resulting in pricy repairs.. I'd also mention that when choosing your gloves to wear, make SURE they aren't the powdered variety. As always though, great advice on (what should be, I need to do better, lol) routine maintenance.. I'm not sure about the x-tool, but with my Co2, you can possibly put the lens back in upside down, which affects power a good bit. I'd always make sure to be aware of the lens orientation when removing/replacing.

    While I don't actually have an Xtool laser, don't they have 3 mirrors like most others? There's usually one on the head gantry, one on the left side of the gantry, and another in the back at the end of the laser tube? I haven't gone back to look at the video, but did I miss you cleaning that, or does the xtool not have/require that?

  • @gaiustacitus4242

    While the top and sides are more than adequately padded for shipping, the feet of the machine sit directly on the cardboard box. If I were a betting man, then I'd place my money on any misalignment being caused by rough handling during shipping and not improper assembly at the factory since every unit is subjected to testing. p.s. - While every P2 is supposed to be thoroughly cleaned after factory testing, my P2 didn't get enough attention in this area. There was a fair amount of residue along the front and rear cover seals. It also had two minor scratches. Since those first scratches are out of the way I can treat it like a piece of production machinery instead of a decoration for my shop.
