It’s “normal” to only date within your race, not to say there’s anything wrong with dating outside of it, but I’m pretty certain there’s been plenty of research done that says that couples are just much more common when they’re the same race/culture. And if you think about it makes sense, if you share a similar racial/cultural background there’s a pretty good chance you’ll have a lot of the same upbringing and values, so you just mesh a lot better. Don’t let people who get ultra offended at everything ruin what should be a common sense issue, by all means do as you like but don’t destroy people fro wanting to date those that they relate to more, no matter the race/culture.

I totally agree! I grew up surrounded by pretty much only white Swedish girls. All of my girlfriends throughout school and early 20s were pretty much blonde white girls, because I found them the most attractive. Couldn't even imagine myself dating a non blonde/white girl. 5 years ago I met a half Swedish, half Asian girl.. and I just fell instantly in love. Never dated, or even had Asian friends before, but something just clicked. She has long black hair and looks nothing like the girls I always found the most attractive.. but now I can't even imagine myself dating anyone else I wasn't with those white girls, because of race or color.. You like what you like, and your taste can change in an instant.

Been dating the same girl outside my race for 3 years now, all of this is racial bait and most of the explanations are awful. The only question that has meaning to it is “do you feel like an outsider to their family” which is easy to answer depending on language barriers and how traditional the family is.

Oh these people with a different skin color accept me and make me feel welcome, but I have to remember who I am and where I come from. What kind of logic is that, you're self segregating for what? Blatantly given life experiences on how most people aren't racist, then self segregate. I genuinely don't understand these viewpoints, and I can only imagine why they selected everyone who has the same beliefs in this episode.

If you are interested in understanding them, I have an explanation: There is a difference between the systemic racism shaping the discrimination they experience throughout life and individuals being racist. "Your partner is white so you aren't being discriminated against" is the exact same argument as "I can't be racist because I have black friends" and it is still a bad argument. Racism isn't a problem of a few individuals being racist, it's a problem of the entire American system being designed from the ground up for maximum profit, and discriminating against people makes them easier to exploit for profit. The decades of forced segregation and shared suffering, plus being grouped together into ghettos, has forced minorities to literally create their own culture after being ripped out of their own through slavery. Many don't even know where they are originally from. Now they have built that new culture and are proud of it and you call it "self-segregation"? "Being welcomed" by some random white people doesn't magically solve the disproportionate poverty, mass jailings, disproportionate police brutality, actively denied home ownership, open white supremacists in congress, gerrymeandering for black voter suppression, gentrification, slavery in prisons, disproportionately terrible healthcare and schools etc. still plaguing specifically black people today. Or do you think you would excuse all that if some random white guys were nice to you for one day?

I feel like everyone has good intentions but never feel inherently ignorant because of your skin color.

It is 100% ok. I for one wouldnt want to be in a relationship with a black person but I couldnt care less about race when it comes to friendship. It has nothing to do with racism whatsoever.

I've never been physically attracted to a black woman unless they were mixed race. I didn't ask for that to happen. I've been attracted to all other women across the world, so I don't understand this. I don't think I'm racist because I treat them the same as any other person. I've heard enough black women say 'I like my men chocolate' and never been offended. I didn't even know it was possible to be offended by an attraction 'choice'. EDIT: Apart from homophobes of course.

Since when has this been a problem that needs a discussion? All people of all races have preferences. Some white men like white women only some black men like black women only some Asian men like Asian women only. Where's the problem? If you wanna date a different race it also isn't a problem. Date who you like. Most women won't date men that are less than 6 feet so why can't men not want to date women of certain races? It's just weird

I understand where you are coming from but those women who have such ridiculous requirements are the minority, they seem like a lot because they bark a lot. The majority, those who do not have such requirements, ain't gonna state it, they prob won't be even online, making those who have the requirement look like a big group. It is like, an army of 300 screaming to make themselves sound like they are 1000. Yeah that's it. There is a psychological term for it, cannot remember it now.

In a sense, letting race affect the way you see people is ignorant. It's not like weight or make up or whatever, or things we are in complete control of. But completely ruling out an ENTIRE race? That's like saying you hate vanilla everything. Even though you haven't tried everything that's vanilla. Because vanilla ice cream is different from vanilla cake, but with this take you're saying theyre the exact same thing and they aren't. Not every single person of a race you "don't prefer" is unattractive. And if you believe that then that is within itself discrimination
