@@kindafatkindastrong5683 what is this wack opinion? Being an unemployed loser has a better chance of causing depression than working in a job you like. The guy is a coder for a company which is one of the biggest in Japan and thus there is less pressure and need to work overtime. Suicide rates and depression rates in Japan are high because of high standards of education and smaller companies requiring long amounts of overtime. Your opinions are so generalised to the point where your argument is moot. You think coding is a boring job but for a lot of people coding is fucking amazing, with your logic librarians and garbage collectors should have the highest suicide rate in the world because collecting trash and organising books suck. If you search up average rent prices for Tokyo wards in 2020 unless the guy is in Minato then his rent per month ranges from 52k yen to 80k yen which is 492 USD to 760 USD for a 1 room studio apartment which is what he has. The average annual salary of an IT industry worker as of 2019 is 4.61 million yen or just under 44K USD (majority of workers are entry level).

Hey do what you love no matter the price as long as it makes you happy. I got a job that required 9 split hours of my day for 600usd/month. That was sad I also got fat for sitting all day and I quit and got a job in a mini market and Im a lot happier and full of energy with less money but more time to spend on myself and what I like. I dont like the way that man lives in japan I couldnt do that its depressing for me but he seems happy. Not once in the entire video he goes up the stairs and greets his family. He doesnt even have lunch with them. After spending the entire day at his desk doing work (never moves from that desk mind you) he goes to a bar to discuss publications with editors and does not even go home to check on his family and kids to see how they are doing. He goes straight to a separate apartment away from his family.

@@argumentumadhominem3977 also its not about privacy. Each one his Paolo’s videos “A day in the Life of” has included family, and day to day activities. It is highly unlikely his family would not participate in the video as Paolo of course pays them to follow them and film their entire day. Who wouldn’t take that opportunity to get some extra cash on the side for one day? Paolo has video taped two in the day of the life of japanese mothers, where we see them go about their day. We see their husbands, their homes, their dirty dishes, their sleeping habits all that, and its all the videos every single one. Except this manga one. Something is extremely fishy about that guy.

@@argumentumadhominem3977 also mind you, on how short his video is compared to the rest of the other A day in the life of videos. It is customary for Paolo to venture off in the building of where his interviewee works and explore his or hers workspace. Mind you Paolo is at the house of this Manga creator. His house. Where his wife and kids are just one set of stairs and a door away. The manga guy never acknowledges his family. Not once in the entire video. Its not until I went back to see that Paolo mentions he lives away from his family like 2 blocks away.

for someone who does not understand how it's possible to write code for 10+ hours a day imagine that this is someone's passion like playing video games it's absolutely the same as it pleases you in the same way it may seem "same and boring" but lol you are not writing staright the same line for these hours, you are solving different particular tasks and that's what satisfies you ofc there's a lot of other aspects of this (like boilerplate, tools or languages you don't like, repeating tasks, etc.), but in a simple way it's kind what it is
@Razgriz_01
3 жыл бұрын
Isn't it like puzzle-solving most of the time? Or at least making the code efficient as possible? The closest comparison I could make between playing a specific video game and coding is probably Factorio lol. Finding the most efficient way possible without everything looking like spaghetti.
@nt4f04und
3 жыл бұрын
@@Razgriz_01 you are right, that's exactly what i said and why there's a pejorative "spaghetti code". of course "writing code" is not just only actual writing, you gotta design it, architect the program, refactor, profile and a lot of other things

As a person who loves to code as a hobby, I can tell you that 2 hours can feel like 20 minutes when I'm really into it. Man this looks like a dream job I would want to have. Sure, people see programming as “staring at a blank screen and typing key words and putting in numbers”. And to some extent, I agree, but what matters is the product and feeling satisfied. The dude is creating a video game and giving a computer screen and the objects within it to life, and that is what fascinantes me. He also lives in isolation, which for me as an introvert, seems like the perfect dwelling. He also has friends in his work so that would be pretty cool too. Also the amount of food choices he can get from is pretty nice, and from all the Japanese food I’ve eaten it is pretty good. Seems like the ideal life I personally would want to have

I'm pissed off at how healthy and easily accesable food and drinks in japan are. Japanese ppeopple aren't obese because their cheapest food is still 4 times better than our market trash. even if you get a quick meal from a vending machine it will just be some rice, veggies and a slice of shhittier fish but still fish. you dont even drink sodas there cause healthier drinks are easier and cheaper to get. being able to live more healthy and get a normal diet from basically market food isnt a possibility in the US or some place like fckn Poland. youll just be sick and obese. also in Poland everyone does the food on their own so we dont even have the ready market food to choose from nothings quick and easy here it's such a bummer

After spending the entire day at his desk doing work (never moves from that desk mind you) he goes to a bar to discuss publications with editors and does not even go home to check on his family and kids to see how they are doing.

Isn't it like puzzle-solving most of the time? Or at least making the code efficient as possible? The closest comparison I could make between playing a specific video game and coding is probably Factorio lol. Finding the most efficient way possible without everything looking like spaghetti.

As a person who loves to code as a hobby, I can tell you that 2 hours can feel like 20 minutes when I'm really into it. So yeah, I don't think 10 hours would be boring to someone who has a passion for it but like you said, over time the tasks can become repetitive which could take the fun out of it.
