Xmax Fork Oil Change

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is how I changed the fork oil on my Xmax 300. It is an easy job and makes for a far better, more comfortable, safer ride.
It is a bit time consuming but can be easily done in an afternoon.
I used 10W fork oil.
Mudei o oleo da forquilha à Xmax 300. É fácil e transforma a condução. Fica mais macia, segura e confortável.
Algo laborioso mas faz-se bem numa tarde.
O óleo recomendado é 10W.

    I've watched a lot of maintenance videos, but it's amazing that you even change the fork oil. And one thing I want to say is that your maintenance videos are very neat, procedural, and detailed. Even bird sounds are perfect. It's crazy. You are a genius.

    Totally agree with comments below and this, like all of Alex;'s videos this another excellent tutorial. I love the fact there's no really annoying music or silly voiceovers and this, along with the gentle soothing birdsong, helped me to easily absorb the excellent information and procedures so very well presented. I just used this video to change my fork oil on my 2021 XMAX 300 (5,000 kms) and took it slow and steady in the afternoon. One thing I really battled with was undoing the top fork caps, they were EXTREMELY tight. And yes, I'd dropped them down well below the clamp on top tree and used the bottom tree clamp set TIGHT to stop the fork staunchion from rotating as I hauled on those pesky top caps. After 90 mins, I finally prevailed, even though was working in 42C degrees of heat. Haven't yet ridden it, but I'm confident it will be a huge improvement over the little amount of oil originally installed at the factory. Thank you Alex, I'm sure I speak for many in saying how grateful we are for you taking the time to create these little jewels of knowledge about the care and nurturing of these valiant little machines. Thank you.

    Thank you for your kind words! I'll confess something:after posting my videos and watching them I always think they're sh!t and that I could have done it much better. And being a "one man show" means filming is the hardest part. Constantly moving the camera for the best possible view triplets the time needed for a job. Nevertheless, I'll keep filming and posting. Next two videos will be coolant change and valve clearance. As soon as I find the time. Ride safe!

    Hello ALex, a greeting, I stopped by because I decided to change the fork oil of my xmax 300, but I have some doubts. Which oil is better to use motul or liqui moly? What viscosity do you use 10W or 5W, considering that my motorcycle is used in a lot of bumpy cities, am I somewhat heavy (100kg approx)? I would also like to know what else to do when changing this oil? is something else necessary? mechanically speaking ...

  • @bikesmith

    @bikesmith

    2 жыл бұрын

    Use Morul 10W fork oil 100% synthetic, it works great. Going one full step up or down the viscosity is just too much. You can mix oils to get an in-between viscosity like 1/2 10W and 1/2 5W gets you a 7.5W oil. But keep with the recommended 10W. If the fork seals aren't leaking then there's nothing else to do, just change the oil. If you have any difficulty in removing the right fork leg cap install it on the left side then remove te cap. Do NOT use a vice! Oh, if you raise the fork legs about 2mm it makes the bike much more agile and sporty. Give it a go!

    Why change fork oils?

  • @bikesmith

    @bikesmith

    3 жыл бұрын

    The oil serves a couple of purposes in your forks. It provides lubrication for the sliding parts, keeping them from wearing metal to metal. The oil also provides your damping. The viscosity and lubricity of the oil will break down over time and produce less damping action and needs to be replaced because of this.

  • @kratoz_858

    @@bikesmith thanks. But is there a difference on the performance between stock and the liqui moly fork oil you used?

  • @bikesmith

    @bikesmith

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kratoz_858 That depends on how bad or how old the oil in the forks is. If it is in good shape than you probably won't notice a big improvement. If the oil is past it's best than the difference is HUGE. Although I did use Liqui Moly, I recommend the Motul Factory Line 100% Synthetic Fork Oil. With fresh oil you'll get a more comfortable ride with more grip, cornering and tire life. If you fork oil is older than 3-4 years then give it a go. Can't hurt!
