good video ! Have the same rust spot there at the unibody frame rail close to the exhaust tail pipe - however, no holes yet - a bit brittle - the driver side looks ok. I will leave it well alone at this stage. Also will treat the whole frame rail with a kind of cable grease.

Frame stiffeners, save time $, more structurally sound repair, more professional looking.👍🏾I don’t recommend this repair but to each their own.

Thank you for reaching out! I actually do have a good bit of content to sort through, edit, and post. My wife and I bought a house last year and I’ve just been too broke to fix my computer! With any luck I will get things sorted out in the next couple months and have some new content! Thank you!

Typically what happens is that the bump stop gets moisture behind it and then it will rot the frame out. I have to do the other side on it now!

Mine is in the same spot. Couldnt I just put a piece of tube over the rust and call it a day?

Cutting out the existing rust is pivotal in order to prevent the issue from spreading. Technically, you could cover it up, but if you’re planning on keeping the vehicle for any length of time, your best solution is cutting out the bad metal and replacing it. Once the chemical reaction of rust begins, it can’t be stopped without cutting it out and replacing it. That’s why rust gets dubbed “cancer” in the industry.

Still holding up great! I moved my bump stops to my leaf spring mounts and added a little more plating over it for “jumping” purpose. Haha

Going to have to do some rust repair similar to this next month, is this structurally sound? It looks great, but it this a safe repair job? Thanks a bunch

Thank you for the comment! And yes it is safe! Believe it or not, the rear of the XJ unibody Frame is not nearly as direly important as the front and center section. In my experience, this particular repair method will work anywhere on the frame, but thing is just being sure you cut the rust out completely!
