Watched one of our local club members on one of those, he talked from SC to Australia on 40 meters (long path!) using the club's huge beam.

Nice. I'm looking at the G90,will probably be settling on it. Just thought I'd see what the X108G was all about.

Found your video because I'm considering an X108G for portable and em-comm use. Just wanted to pipe in and say good luck on your test (Tech or General?) and to let you know that I got my first HF rig back in November. I first got an Alpha multi-band antenna and it worked ok but then got the MFJ 1788 Loop antenna. I ordered it from DX engineering and had no problem with quality issues. Granted it's a PITA to tune BUT it puts the Alpha to shame at my QTH. I'm on the west coast and the loop gets me great contacts on the east coast, Canada, Alaska, and Japan. Matter of fact I lack 3 states from having contact with all 50 states (mainly on FT8). Anyway, look into the 1788, it's a great antenna and again good luck on your exam! 73, KM6HRD

That's a hand microphone not a Handy Talky just FYI.It looks just like many different versions of an ICOM hand microphone. It looks like a nice little radio but I chose an ICOM 7000 which I may run QRP or at 100 watts on HF,6 meters,2 meters & 440 mhz in all modes. It's the Fourth time I have owned an ICOM 7000 & I plan upon keeping this one if possible.

+Robert Gibbons No, not really. The Icom is bad. So it went back and the Kenwood, while very nice is a little old-school for me. My neighbor doesn't want it back, so it's for sale. The X108G seems to fill my needs. Now I just need to figure out the right antenna for my QTH. (See? I'm speaking HAM already). I tried a dipole, no good at all. Right now I'm using an endfed longwire. And I'm thinking about a magnetic loop. The problem is I am surrounded on both sides by tall buildings.

QRP трансивер, это когда мощность 5 Вт. А тут 20 Вт. Это не QRP! В трансивере x90 есть панорама SDR, на него вероятно спрос больше.

Nice radio, but everything on the panel is too small. especially the tuning knob!!!! If they made a regular sized version of this radio, i would certainly puchase one ore more of them.
