It's basically the new name for their user interface with new additions and minor changes to the user experience however I've seen that rebranding the ui will benefit users in lowering the storage already taken by the system.

You don't have to but some people say it's better to do a factory reset after an update, personally I don't think it's necessary.

Theres no new animations whatsoever and the control center is still the same, we were expecting smoothness, why Xiaomi? 😭😂

It could be that when the new update is downloaded it replaced the old version and the old version got deleted so it did not affect the overall storage that much.

Thank you for commenting, it depends on your budget if it's limited then the redmi 12 is an amazing device however if the budget is not a major factor I would suggest going for a device with better specifications.
