Thanks. Anyone who knows anything about Shaolin, or the old Shaolin before it became Wushufied in the 1960's, knows this is GOOD shaolin. The other guy is young, and is athletic, he has no fajing, or fali. It is amazing just how much Wushu has affected real gongfu, and how easy it is for the young to be misled.

The form is genuine. The master is good and is school is now one of the best/hardest is the Shaolin Temple surrounding, I know this cause I trained there, and also in others so i can compare. Good video, Sholin Kung Fu is not for all, and videos cant explain every part of a movement inside each form...this kunf fu was used in war...most of the moves that it contains saved lives and killed others...so it contains the pure story of martial arts.

its traditional, if ur looking for flashiness thats wushu, not kung-fu. the basics like stances and practical applications just arent stressed anymore, this guy here still got it however unflashy it looks compared to sport martial arts.

anyone who doesnt think this is a good demonstration of traditional xiaohongquan- shi yongzhi learned directly from his master shi xingshu, who was one of the elder monks to return from the cultural revolution and restore the shaolin tradition. you dont get much more traditional in shaolin than from the few of those elder monks. shi yongzhi is a direct descendant of those generations.

cuz shaolin uses a different fajin. Check out shi de cheng's version. The tension and release has almost perfect timing but it's maybe that he's moving fast but his hip is there.

the twisting punch and palm strike comments refer to this guy, not shi yong bin.

i dont know about tensing up, but he's doing the form properly, he's attacking where there are attacks, and blocking and clearing where appropriate. The guy above is all short cuts and no intention. He might be really good, i dont dispute that, but its a video to teach people. If he teaches this and this is what you want to learn then good for you. Each to their own i guess. Good luck in your training anyway

Actually this guy is pretty good.. From an internal perspective, it is much better than the clip SampoChin posted. The problem with Wushufied Shaolin performers, is they always seem to think the stances have to be perfectly deep and the arms locked, legs locked, etc. This guy is relaxed, and doing the movements effortlesly and explosively. If you look at all the older shaolin masters, this is how they peform. Not like Wushu atheletes.

i'll tell you something i minght know nothing but i know this: this is supposed to be an instructional video and he's performing it all wrong. I stand corrected the guy is briliant, the video is rubbish as an instructional tool

this documentary series is kinda crappy. I don't know much about shaolin, but their video on baji was pathetic. As for shi yong bin vs this guy, i personally prefer shi yong bin. I enjoy the polish, especially in basic forms. His twisting punch at :31 is nice. As for the palm strikes, i can't say his fajin is all that great either. His body hardly moves. Maybe that's my lack of understanding for shaolin.

Thats why you like the way he does it, because your a tai chi guy. This guy does the form in an individualised way like he's been doing it for decades and goes through lines maybe how he would use them. Its wrong even for a demo. His mabu is pathetic and he doesn't show gong bu once. You need not take it personal, im not saying your skills are no good or anything, just his form is shit.

you think Shi Yong Bin sucks and this guy is good? tell me what makes this way this guy does it so good? Actually you know what, forget it, you know so much about shaolin, and the rest of the world is stupid. Maybe you should be the next abbot. P.S. you could not be as good as yong bin if you trained all your life
