Project Description:

This is the Smallest ESP32C3 WiFi + Bluetooth development board. In my previous video, I explained its technical specifications, it’s pinout, board installation using Arduino IDE, and I also practically demonstrated how to control an LED and how to make an IoT based temperature and Humidity monitoring system using the Adafruit IO and the ESP32C3 onboard WiFi. So, if you are just starting with the XIAO ESP32C3 then I highly recommend, you should watch my previous video.
Anyway, in today’s episode, you will learn how to use XIAO ESP32C3 onboard Bluetooth with an Android application for controlling electrical appliances.
Besides this, I will also do a range test. And we will see if the XIAO ESP32C3 onboard Low Energy Bluetooth 5 and this WiFi/Bluetooth Antenna really increases the signal strength. The manufacturer claims that it has a maximum communication range of +100 meters. If it’s true then it means I can control my home appliances and other electrical loads even from outside; 100 meters is such a long distance. I am still gonna be quite happy even if it gives me around 40 to 50 meters.
HC05 Bluetooth module never gave me such a long distance. And look at the size difference XIAO ESP32C3 is much smaller than the HC05 Bluetooth module. So, using the smallest ESP32C3 development board we can really reduce the project size and cost. Anyway, first I am going to share with you the final test results and afterward, I will explain everything else.

    Your video and code are very easy to follow. Thank you! I have two questions: 1. How do you know that it was BTLE5 it used to communicate and not BT4 or other? 2. Do you realize that the distance is also dependent also on the phone and it's transmitter power and it's receiver sensitivity?

    Great little device! So versatile! Can you or have you already done, a Bluetooth range test without the external antenna? I only need about 5m max for a model railway experiment. Appreciated, Peter.

    Disappointed with the Xiao ESP32-C3's battery performance. The device operates in a voltage range of 4.2V-3.4V, which seems to limit battery usage efficiency. It's frustrating to see shorter usage times due to this. Hope they consider widening the voltage range to make the most of the battery's capacity without harming its longevity

    I couldn't get mine to take a program. I'm pretty sure I had the wrong board selected because jt wasn't available to select. How do I add hardware to IDE?

    @ElectroniClinic I rewatched this morning. It post the program all the way through and loads it...then I get something that says "resetting board via pin" don't remember what it says for pin. And thr program doesn't work. The same sketch loads fine on arduino esp32 nano amd runs.
