Xi Jinping's regime 'floundering' amid 'missteps' being made

Former Australian defence head of china analysis Paul Monk says if one pays attention they can see Chinese President Xi Jinping's regime is "floundering".
“The idea that ... (China) is growing stronger every measure and that we should be quaking in our boots, is a serious misreading in my judgement of what's actually going on with China," Mr Monk told Sky News host Catherine McGregor.
“We can see if we’re paying attention ... how's he’s making missteps and that his regime is floundering.
“They’re making enemies all around their perimeter, which no sensible strategist would do.”

Readers everywhere might remember that the entire controversy started over the issue of being nabbed in Hong Kong to be tried by the CCP -- old school -- on the Mainland. Xi has taken Red China into a Depression... not a Recession. A Depression is defined by a credit contraction that is centered around real estate and construction lending -- going into contraction. A Recession is defined by a credit contraction that is centered around manufactures and inventory lending -- going into contraction. Do NOT conflate the two based on the severity of the contraction. Depressions are so wicked because of their LENGTH. 1920-21 the US suffered an intense Recession as industry finally unwound from WWI spending and government-centered economic organization. The nation rebounded into the Roaring Twenties. 1930-1939 the US suffered an intense Depression as real estate lending and industrial build-out massively contracted. Even clearing inventories was insufficient. Red China is facing a decade of real estate credit contraction... a Depression. No foreign real estate financing will occur in the echo of Evergrande & Coy. As the years roll by, the whole world will come to grieve. Japan went through this starting in 1989. Had Hitler misstepped in his taking of the Rhine in 1936 he almost certainly would have been overturned, such was the fragility of Hitler's position at that point. Any discussion of conflict between China and Taiwan is substantially lacking if Japan is not included in the calculus. Japan occupied Taiwan as a colony from 1895 through 1945. Japan built many of the infrastructure systems that are the backbone of modern Taiwan; for example, the reservoirs and vast irrigation systems, the hydroelectric systems, bridges, tunnels, roads, railroads, etc. Further, today, the Taiwanese and Japanese are tightly linked culturally and economically. In addition, 100 miles to the north of Taiwan is Okinawa Prefecture and Japanese islands. Sixty miles to the east of Taiwan is a group of islands that contains approximately 50,000 Japanese; it is also in Okinawa Prefecture. Lastly, the vast majority of Japan's trade with the world is shipped through the Taiwan Straits, East China Sea, and South China Sea. Japan will intervene if China moves against Taiwan in order to protect its trade routes, the southern portions of Okinawa Prefecture, and its former colony (Taiwan). When Japan enters the fray, the US is treaty bound to protect Japan.

Love poetry, huh? I am no poetry expert, but I do have a favorite piece of poetry; it goes like this: Roses are red, Violets are blue. Some poems rhyme, But this one doesn't. Sadly, I cannot claim authorship of this marvelous piece of poetic art; I found it in the back of an issue of Boys' Life magazine quite a few years ago. . .

Of course, France and Australia remain allies. The Mercantile contract had off ramp clauses, which Australia used, when AUKUS came along. Bottom line the matter was commercial.
