xhol caravan - all green [1970] [part 1]

before tangerine dream, before embryo, before kraftwerk, before even the ohr label, xhol caravan released what may be the first album to rightly own the name krautrock.
very psychedelic sound.

Soft Machine, but mostly Zappa/Mothers. Electronized sax sound, and early jazzy prog psychedelia, great !!! Today I bought a Xhol Altena 1970 live. Incredible, like this, with flute solo, and long tracks. Recommended stuff!!!
very good band................................................................................................................................
I've heard of these guys, but never heard their music before. Thanks for putting this on KZread.
Utterly amazing. I've instantly become a fan. Thanks mate
awesome post, thanks for that!
Sopranosax played with Wawa-Pedal, somtimes sounding like a fiddle.Very Nice!
This is so good!
If you like this you might love Brainticket's lp 'Psychonaut'- After a few listens it can get into the blood- a true classic. Trippy space-jazzrock- I think the musicians are punchingl below their weight. Not strictly Kraut- Swiss, German, Belgian members- classic female psych vocals of the genre too. Just a tip, hope you enjoy much.. probably some of it on KZread
I can see the Soft Machine influence definitely. But I also think that Zappa was as big of an influence. The Mothers did jazz-rock kind of music as early as 1967 ("Invocation and Ritual Dance" from 2nd Mothers album is a lengthy guitar and sax jam that pre-dates the SM style in 1970). I also recommend YouTubing "Zappa King Kong 1968" and then comparing the result to anything on "Noisette" album. FZ pioneered electrification of saxes and Xhol Caravan here follow suit.
Undeniable Soft Machine flavored ?
xhol caravan = ultra-flabbergasted amazing jam & vidmix
Great
Y'shouldn't be. Zappa's late 60s output was almost entirely jazz fusion (up 'til Chunga's Revenge, from then on, his work was a mix mash of silly prog, fusion, and occasionally funky hard rock).
The latter half of this reminds me of Wigwam out of Finland
Magic Trip to The Xhol Moon!!

This actually sounds a lot like early Van der Graaf Generator, I think !! Anyway, it's very good, and first hearing,so much to discover on yt !!
sounds good
que genios existira alguien que conosca los secretos de las baquetas hoy en dia
Hoooooo, sind das schöne Farben. Klingen tut das schon ein bischen wie Tangerine Dream später.
Highly influenced by Zappa and The Mothers.
Sounds like they were influenced by the Soft Machine.

I think either Can or Amon Duul 2 released the first Krautrock album. Still this is great stuff.
Zappa and the Mothers did it even earlier than the Softs. Softs was more vocal oriented and without the saxes up to 1969. This video is from, what, like 1969-70?
Another great german music is Manfred Schoof quintet `Scales´ and `Light lines´ from JAPO-ECM records...now in KZread cHECK...
psicodélico! e a criancinha no fim do vídeo... te monta um monte de história!
...Yeah, you'll normally find that Krautrock is like that. LOL...
