A as healer makes sense when you consider Shulk had Light Heal as an art in 1, and uses his lost Vision ability. A combines Alvis and Shulk’s support really well IMO
@noodle4542
Жыл бұрын
eh, even with light heal shulk was more of a glass cannon dps but I still get what your saying. More likely when building the rest of the characters they had only one 'true' healer in Glimmer, so they made A the healer role so you still have two of each while she primarily has more offense based arts.
@conorb.1901

@Snekko Bleppo I personally would call Shulk a support/damage hybrid character. Between his break arts, Monado Armor, Light Heal, and most importantly Slit Edge, he was able to enable more damage with defense down and keep allies alive with Armor and healing. He's still did fairly decent damage, but the def down was extremely impactful, especially for physical characters like Shulk's best teammates Reyn and Dunban
@TheJaredPunch

@@conorb.1901 IMO, one of the things that made Shulk a powerful party member in any team composition is the Monado Arts. Their many applications made Shulk a better support party member than Sharla while still being a powerful attacker.

In XC1, i play Shulk as attacker and supporter thru his normal and Monado Arts, the healing job will be passed to Riki. I only used Shulk's Light Heal when Riki's healing is in cooldown hahaha

@TheJaredPunch I agree with that, especially Monado Armor which is arguably the best art in the game, but Slit Edge just synergizes so well with the other physical attackers (which ironically could include Sharla if you decided to lean more into Headshot than Thunder Bullet). You really can't go wrong with Shulk and it's ultimately just player preference.
A is obviously the most powerful Monado user, as her Monado is 7 numbers higher than the previous record of III

As someone who doesn't enjoy playing attackers for their sometimes awkward positionals, I really enjoy hybrid healers like A. She was my go to for any difficult fight that didn't rely on debuffs and her damage during chain attacks wasn't even that bad even when compared to Mathew. Vision is such a nice panic button, especially for a team that doesn't have any evasion arts on the evasion tank. Surprised you didn't mention the Mirage Edge Fusion Art, which adds Attack Up ontop of the standard evasion. Definitely the best added effect you can get from Fusion Arts. One thing that always bugs me about these new Fusion Arts is how inconsistent they are. Some combinations will give you really nice additions, whereas many others give you nothing but a combination of the 2 effects. Really wish they had added bonus effects for every Fusion Art instead of just picking a few because it feels a bit unintuitive
@ryanware6854

god yeah, the fusion arts with sword mirage are phenomenal, especially when you pair them with the accessories that restore percentage of hp when buffs are applied. didn't really care for how nikol was built, but that strategy made him soooo good as a backup tank when shulk couldnt keep up
Sword Mirage and Shaker Edge is also rly good for the Attack Up combined with Swelling Blessing X Using the Melia Tactical Manual on them lets you renew the buff every round cause you're hitting amazings consistently, and if you spec them for damage with Steelcleaver, Analyze Weakness and a Thermo Headgear, they can do some pretty neat damage during the chain, while also setting Rex up to just be ridiculous (along with Glimmers Crit Up) Fantastic guide as always 🙏

But then, at least for some rounds, you'd have to use 4 or even 5 characters (if you wanna also use Matthew to grant power charge) to get an amazing, which means you'd be at a net loss of 1 or 2 character after each of those specific rounds. Also, by pairing shaker edge with sword mirage you're not taking advantage of A's strongest fusion art option. And once again, trying to use attack up, crit rate and dmg up, and power charge in the same round would be a big waste of characters, so you'd likely want to skip out on the attack up buff, as it is the weakest buff of the 4. And even then, in *those* particular situations i mentioned before, you'd be at a net loss of 1 character after each one of those rounds. Overall, not a bad option, at least earlier in the game, but it is outclassed and not very useful later in the game and during the post-game.
@gloriousfuture860

Got to strongly disagree, in my curent set-up, i use matthew power charge, A atk up, glimmer crit rate and dmg up and rex guarantied every round (Amazing + guarantied reactivation), since chain atks are your main source of dmg (and rex is basicly your only source if dmg) you want to support him has much has possible
@lemmyxpro

@@gloriousfuture860 A attack up is literally what he recommended, but it's not even that great if you use an extra character, you'd be a net loss of 1-2 characters per round, (in earlier rounds, assuming you're going for an amazing and are also using a character such as Glimmer with Melia's heroic chain effect.) which definitely sucks because you'd have an even lower chance to get Rex back the next round.
I like the Fusion art of Sword Mirage and Shaker Edge: Mirage Edge. It gives an AOE of Evasion Up and Attack Up. It useful in Chain Attacks, although Glimmers Crit rate up and Crit damage up is more useful in the end.

With the way that field dissolution works in XB3, Mirage Edge isn't as good as I initially thought. Late-game Glimmer and A can just spam fields fast enough to turn Glimmer's field into a party wide attack buff. But yeah during chain attacks it can be a really good source of damage and maybe your best damage boosts for the early-mid game.
This truly is A guide of all time🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really like running sword mirage + shaker edge, as this is the only way to apply an attack up buff to the party that isn't glimmer's field art.

Not true. One of Glimmer's fusion arts, the phys.def+blaze art along with the crit rate up art (forgot the names) will also grant attack up as a fusion effect, although this fusion art is outclassed by the crit rate up art combined with the art that AOE heals upon hitting a target, (Illusory bloom, i think it's called?) as that fusion grants crit dmg up instead of attack up, whilst still granting crit rate up as well.
Ah yes, the A guide. This is certainly A guide
Enel, I think I speak for most of us when I say you do NOT need to apologize for talking through the whole menu section. Personally, the “practical” part of the video is usually the part where I stop paying a whole lot of attention because you’ve already explained how the character works. XD
I recommend the Brute Memory or possibly the Nopon Strap. For the former, Glimmer has the lowest HP, so this can help prevent a double Healer KO. For the latter, it helps circumvent the long cooldowns of her D-Pad arts.
One thing I should mention about Vanquishing End is its dmg ratio is kinda stupid high at 500% per hit with 6 hits. The main issue of course is that if the enemy blocks it then A deals pitiful damage. Also you can only use it at max like 2 times (unless you find a way to charge the talent art back up to max without using Light Field)
Wooo, excited to finally get the guide for A since A is one of my favorite characters from the DLC!

Absolutely phenominal
THE one and only guide
It's a nice moment looking back to realize how far I've come since watching your guides. From having to do a major overhaul of my setup in XC2, to going by instinct and still have an easy enough time in both XC3 main game and FR, with similar setups to yours. I do still find new things I never noticed while playing in your guides, though, like how Matthew's break chance works, or how Rex has access to Break, too - not that it'll ever work on the late-game UMs, but on the off-chance it ever does, I do have it linked.
So I have an... interesting alternative to strategy manual vol 3: Strategy Manual, Vol. 6 has some... interesting properties where if A healer is equipped with it, trades out the healer properties with Melia's heroic chain ability (Prevents order from completing if it reaches over 100% through character's action, letting you do another turn). Believe it or not this build's on top of glimmer and Rex's ability to fight at the end of the chain attack, constantly buffing agility through cross mirage and in turn SKYROCKETTING damage via that crit buff. The reason why I wouldn't rock this on anyone else is because A unlike any other character... the completion attack actually has her striking... god I want to say 9 times, with a decent amount damage multiplier that's doing a meaty chunk, perfect for removing the rage threshold for more damage on a unique monster
@lemmyxpro
Жыл бұрын
Huh? I didn't quite get your comment near the end, but i'd definitely say that Melia's chain order effect is better with Glimmer (but good with both of the healers since the heroic chain is basically an improved version of the default healer effect. ) because Glimmer's potential crit rate up+crit dmg up or even crit rate up+attack up is stronger than A's attack up.

I woulda called this video a guide for Alice since it's pronounced so similarly to Alvis. It's also my headcanon name lol
Thanks! This is A guide I really needed!
I kinda wish you could control when A activates vision via the tactics menu when you you're playing as another character. The ai will use vision whenever it wants to (I have no idea what makes the ai uses vision) which can be really annoying if you're saving it for specific moments. There's even room on the tactics menu since there's burst/smash combo command
I find the Attack up fusion to be really useful on Chain Attacks. I have a setup based on giving Rex Attack Up, Crit Up and Crit damage Up every turn, it works wonders! (I get Power Charge with chain orders or Matthew (
Totally missed opportunity during the intro to say: “Ayyy hello everybody we are here to provide a guide on the character A in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 dlc Future Redeemed.”
Honestly besides Rex I strongly think A is the best party member. She can do whatever you want her to. Lowkey tanking by giving her high agility and an auto-balancer? Yep. Damage? Sure. Actually focusing on healing? Sure thing.
@jstar3382
Жыл бұрын
eh, it's Glimmer. Her ability to quickly revive and her skills buffing crit damage when both of your attackers have good crit is just too good. And the pure healing keeping people alive is major
@lemmyxpro
Жыл бұрын
@@jstar3382 i agree, but it could also be Matthew, as his AOE power charge is essential for strong chain attacks, and he has the second highest damage in the entire party after Rex too. Overall though, i think Glimmer is a bit better for the reasons you listed.
A very much is a 'buffer/debuffer with incidental regen on the side' kind of healer, and it fits them rather well being a somewhat fusion of Shulk and Alvis from XC1. Although Sword Mirage/Shaker Edge is what I mainly run on them as the AOE Attack/Evasion buff is too damn good - especially when it comes to chain attacks. Outside of that, there's not much really else to comment on them that you haven't done already.
Sword mirage + topple art gives you evasion and attack up I believe. Pairs well with glimmers crit damage and crit rate up for chain attacks
I'd rather keep the Attack Up fusion art for A just because it's a pretty decent buff for the party.
For early game I definitely suggest cross mirage fusion for the regenerate buff applied to everyone as well as evasion up buff, it essentially doubles her healing output in practice and definitely helps, especially if you have her swelling blessing gem. I do agree that bind is a powerful effect but I'd rather just not rely on a debuff landing on an enemy in xc3 since the shit is mythically rare.
There goes Enel breaking the game with every character XD Hope we ger individual character lore down the line too.
I believe Shaker Edge and Sword Mirage combined gives the whole party Attack Up and Evasion Up. Its great in chain attacks to give everyone attack with A and crit rate and crit damage with Glimmer.
Ok so I’m going to have to disagree with one thing here. A’s usefulness in a chain attack can be very impactful if you give her Melia’s Heroic Chain of not stopping the 100% damage cap. In some instances, I’ve had her TP be on par with and even surpass that of Rex.
Thanks for the guide!
On A and Nikol, I find it overwhelmingly more useful to keep their combo arts unpaired, as I found having ouroboros arts in those slots often causes the AI to waste them, meaning I often don't have topples/launches ready at the correct moments. This is particularly a problem versus enemies who have awkward (namely X-shaped) collision boxes when toppled, as it can be difficult to manoeuvre Rex into position to launch after he topples, and it also means that Rex taking aggro+dying doesn't cause so many problems when you get an unfortunately-timed break, as A can just do the work for you/take advantage of the art recharge from revival to get a topple in/not care about positioning if you need to get any extra attacks in to charge Rex's topple art enough. For anyone who doesn't know how to do this if they've equipped one already, you can just press R3 (right stick button) while hovering over an equipped ouroboros art. Alternatively (and more time-consumingly), you can reset the Affinity tree to unlearn everything and not re-equip anything to the Topple/Launch slot.
The best character to be played as imo, especially during boss fight.
If I had to give this guide a rating, I'd give it an "A"
This certainly is A phenomenal guide
Enel, I can't wait for you to get nikols guide out. Because then, I'm hoping, you'll release a guide for the best equipment and where to get them. I need sleep resistance or the wazoo for the freaking level 80 super boss. I can't do more than a fraction of damage before everyone is taking a nap like they got drugged with chloroform.
Its funny cuz i find A to be a really impactful control character for the fight against Abaasy. The event loop that happened for me was Rex aggro then death, A revive and art spam, rinse repeat until chain attack
Man I know what your specific reason for not beating the game is and I wish I could go back to that state. It was nice being able to have 100% reliability for getting the right chain attack orders.

I’m looking forward to the Shulk guide. I really hope you can figure out a build that makes him worth playing as
good one dude.
I spent most of my playthrough as A, Shulk and Rex. A until Shulk and Rex joined then flip flopped around mostly as Shulk because he is my boy. Still feel like A was probably my favorite to play as when not Beybladeing as Rex. That said i'm a Shulk main. The fact his attacks mimic Dunbans animations and even some of the effects he even does Reyn's shield bash animation for 1 of his attacks. I just wish he had more "Gain aggro" effects. I mostly built him around evasion and put on the accessory that boosts aggro when evading. Pairs up well with A and the evasion up tech.
i actually used A in chain attacks a lot since if you combine her topple arte with her evasion up arte you can give an atk up to you whole team and so i kinda spammed crit rate/dmg up and atk up the whole chain attacks. if you combine that with the "excelent" manuals on shulk and nicol you can guarantee rex A and glimmer back the first 2 rounds and i have mathew on the melia esk heroic chain so i can keep getting amazing's after that point and you literally have 2 rounds where you have a 1 in 4 chance to not get the at least rex (he has 50% dmg multiplier for each round he is used in manual since its hardmode) back for 2 rounds the 7th party member carries the chain recharge order i found this to be realy effective asspecialy on hard mode where you absolutely need all the dmg you can get there is a verry slight chance you fail the chain attack as a total but if that happend i just reset the fight and start over
Nice video. I rate it A+

I never thought leveling up was an issue. Just by doing all quests and overkilling all story bosses and UMs, I found myself at lv64 already. From there, it was just one UM after another until lv99. Aside from the lv70 UM which can lock your chain attack and have annoying sleep and bind debuff spamming which I only fought one, the lv60, lv80, lv90, lv100 ones can be fought on repeat, and as early as when you're 4 levels below them for maximum exp gain. You just need to overkill them with a good chain attack to gain like 2-5 levels each battle, which shouldn't be a problem if you're watching Enel's guide.
great character design on this one.. bit of a mix between Alvis & Corvin
I think it's Sword Mirage and Shaker Edge that gives an Attack buff, as a Fusion, and (at low-level, I'm not in Black Mountains yet) I've found Sword Mirage charges almost exactly twice as fast as Shaker Edge, making it perfectly sync up so you can use it off cooldown.

One combination I'm surprised you didn't mention was Shaker Edge + Sword Mirage, which grants AOE Attack Up. I'll admit I don't use this myself as I like using Skyfoil instead for high damage in chain attacks, but it's a damage buff with AOE. (For clarification, I actually use the same art combos as you. I just felt that this particular combo was worth mentioning if nothing else.)

For me personally A was a big help most of the story I really like cross mirage it helped a lot
I wish they went a little further with her idea of a offensive healer but I still played mostly a and Rex in my playthrough
Playing again, A's art inspirations are so wierd. The biggest source is LUCKY SEVEN for some reason, with sword mirage (monado speed) is Power raiser, Light field is night breaker, cross ray AND Vanishing end are based on Tachyon Slash, and Shaker Edge is ground beat. Skyfoil is monado purge, but specifically how Alvis used it in that one cutscene, and lost ray is a pretty generic swipe, despite being analogous to Cyclone. Such a strange source of inspiration for animations. Moveset wise? Mix of monado arts, Shulk in 1, and a bit of originality
