I know it seems odd, but here’s an example for you: When I got into BTS, my “husband” kept belittling me, telling me it was stupid to spend that kind of money on an album, and especially the money for a concert ticket!! He kept it up I until I finally reminded him that I had supported his NFL love, making sure we had NFL ticket so he could watch all the games, buying tshirts, hats, AND tickets, to so many different games! As well putting up with him screaming at the tv during the games! THEN and only then did he realize how unfair he was being! I just want to add, thank you so much for continuing this journey with BTS and Army!

I'm a relatively new ARMY from fall of last year and BTS and ARMY have really changed my perspective of the world and lifted me up when I needed it most. I'm a healthcare worker in my early 30s in NYC. While things were bad with COVID in spring of 2020, I truly believed that with the rest of the US seeing how terrible things were in NYC, they would take precautions to try to prevent the spread to the rest of the country. As things were finally starting to get under control in the summer, we just saw the pandemic razing other parts of the country as people politicized public health and valued their own personal freedom over the safety of their neighbors. On top of that, all the racial tensions that erupted only poured oil onto the wildfire. By the end of the summer, I realize now in retrospect that I had lost faith in humanity. While there may be a few good individuals here and there, humans as a whole were just selfish beasts that prioritized themselves first to the detriment of others and didn't care at all about their suffering. Around that time, Dynamite blew up across the country. I had listened to a lot of Kpop in college and med school but only casually listened to Kpop streaming stations occasionally over the last few years as life got busier. While I had heard BTS were starting to break into the US, I became curious. It didn't seem like other Kpop groups were making that much headway here so what set BTS apart and why were they getting SOOO big? As I started looking into them, I quickly realized that BTS had been super active during quarantine to stay in touch with and comfort the fans. They did a lot of live streams and even shared the creative process as they were creating a new album to bring comfort during the pandemic. I learned they had put out an entire series of albums about learning to love yourself, because you can't truly love another person until you know how to love yourself. During this time I was learning more about them, I quickly realized they were doing promotional performances for Dynamite EVERYWHERE and while they couldn't perform and meet ARMY in their usual fashion, they were still doing their best to reach out to ARMY with their performances. I learned about their donation to BLM and how their fanbase ARMY were able to match that $1 million donation in just one day. Here were people who were actually using their platform during this global crisis to promote good and bring comfort, unlike our politicians and Western artists. BTS were constantly appearing on social media to remind fans to wear masks and stay healthy. Their words gave people comfort, strength, and hope. In finding this loving and welcoming community that BTS has gathered around themselves, I realized there WERE still good people in the world. That there were MANY good people in this world. As I started watching more of BTS' content to get to know them better, I was laughing at their antics, at how open they were just sharing their fun and good times with ARMY. At that point, I realized that I actually hadn't TRULY laughed since the pandemic hit. In retrospect, I realized I had been having a lot of depressive symptoms. I was only going to work in the hospital and then spending my time binging Netflix when I got back to my apartment. After discovering BTS, I felt some of the weight come off my shoulder. I started going outside for some walks in the park (with my mask on of course!), revisit hobbies, and even try picking up new hobbies. I took a deep dive into their then most recent album Map of the Soul 7 and slowly learned to consider my own personality and try to come into my own person, by looking at some of my own faults and coming to accept them. I decided to make a twitter account to interact with more ARMY so that I would be aware of and could contribute to charitable initiatives. And from ARMY I learned that most of us really do find BTS when we need them the most. While my problems were perhaps not as dire as others struggling with suicidal thoughts or mourning deceased family members, I had found BTS during the lowest point in my life and they turned that trajectory a total 180. Lol, sorry this got so long. Thank you as always for reacting to this and sharing your thoughts with us. I hope you'll react to BTS from Nobodies to Legends (2019) next. That was one of the first introductory videos I watched and the speech used at the end is iconic. It really made me realize the depth of the bond between BTS and ARMY.

I’m a huge army and LOVE these boys with my heart and soul but this statement is not true. Any true ARMY follows what you’re saying… but there are plenty of toxic fans who say they’re ARMY but treat anybody, even people who will merely say “this song isn’t my favorite, it’s good and they’re talented, but not what I typically listen to,” type of things and will get ripped apart by people calling themselves ARMY, but any of us who really are should know that this is not what we represent and not how we fight for our boys. It’s the last thing that bts would want out of us and that’s why it makes sense to me. Even people who make ignorant comments like I think this reactor did originally… does not mean that they deserve to get hate. We are supposed to be an extension of bts and I know it triggers us hearing some of the ignorant comments that we know they’ve been getting their entire career .. but I use the term “ignorant” bc this means that they don’t know any better. They have no idea what bts is what they’ve been through or who they are as people and artists … and that’s why we are here to point them in the direction of the information , music and content to show them that they’re wrong… not leave vicious hateful comments attacking them personally bc we are triggered. We have to do better and be better so that this fandom isn’t looked at as being a negative thing which on the outside some people think that. We want to prove them wrong and show them they’re wrong and give them the path to discover what a phenomenon that BtS is and how insanely incredible that they are and how they’re so much more that at first glance… real army out here are the ones who have helped turn people’s first initial judgement around to the gift that bts is … but there are people who go to far and def don’t represent us or bts well and that happens in any fandom

On frontpage BTS looks like just another group with catchy tunes and crazy good choreography and performances and people think that is why they have ARMY. When in reality BTS singles are like Troian horses. And behind those colorful, usually fairly simple songs that wanna make you move and dance and smile lays BTS discography full of encouragement, hope, empathy, call to revolt, social criticism. Songs that make you wanna make a change, songs that makes you cry your eyes out, songs that make you feel understood. And that is real reason why BTS have ARMY behind them.

BTS main tracks are fun and catchy. But what made me join this fandom are the b-sides and solo songs of the members. Their b-sides are golden; for me, some are even better than the main tracks. I cried the first time I heard Intro Nevermind, First Love, and Answer: Love Myself when I was going through their discography. I hardly cry when listening to music even to emotional ones, but these songs just hit me.

I think you would like “life goes on” it’s about how they felt about quarantine and a main focus of the song is how they felt about the world just stopping all of a sudden and feeling like time was standing still. The main reason of their struggles was coming from not being able to perform in front of fans… being able to feel that shared bond and live abs appreciation of them and their art. The music video ends with them in a concert venue all dressed up singing to an empty crowd.. but that it will happen again even if it takes some time. I think you’d like the vibe of it and the video… that and “film out” is a beautiful song with crazy music video but it may be confusing bc this music video has a lot to do with their fictional storyline which I’m not sure you’re going to get into the fictional storyline in their music videos but it’s really cool and creative so def worth if interested !

I feel so insanely blessed to be in the BTS ARMY. I’ve genuinely become a better person because of both BTS and ARMY. I’m so thankful. They’ve become a significant notch on my moral compass. I’ve always strived to be a good person but I honestly was always on the selfish side despite that, which I hated but had a hard time overcoming. But it’s the demon of selfishness that bts and army have helped me battle, and I’m so thankful because it’s showed me that I’m not set in my ways despite getting older and that I can change those negative things I don’t like about myself as a human being.

These guys encourage nothing but love, light, positivity, compassion, self love and support and how important we all are to each other and it’s the best way we can thank BTS is by showing the kind of people they have inspired us to be. Of course there are toxic and overzealous unreasonable people that will call themselves ARMY… but I hope ppl can see that for the majority of us out here… that is not the case. Their music, lyrics and messages are inspirational not to mention their choreographies ..and looks of course. 😊 Looking forward to seeing how this journey together progresses! 💜 Thank you for sharing your feelings and stories with us. They really resonate with me.

xCeleste talks on some issues that I can totally relate to in the beginning when she mentions that the fandom is thought of as mostly screaming teenage girls. Katy Perry even made a flippant remark at an award show that the ARMY fandom were up past their bedtime to watch the BTS performance (which she got raked through the coals for and later apologized). Because of this misconception, it seems almost anyone outside of the teen demographic becomes "open season" for ridicule. Trust me, as a fan in my 60's I see it all the time, but there is no demographic for appreciating amazing music and performance. I think it stems from the fact that they are so attractive, people who don't know the music assume the enthusiasm for BTS stems from that image...trust me...it's not about that for me..they are brilliant, talented, humble individuals who always set a great example and I love them for it. ARMY is an impressive fandom who are changing the world...not a bunch of screaming teenagers losing their minds over some attractive men.

You should react to their Tiny Tan Zero O’Clock video. Zero O’Clock (00:00) is my feel good/reset BTS song performed by the four vocal line members Jin, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Big Hit created a really beautiful animated video to it using BTS’s “Tiny Tan” personas (mini/cute animated versions of them). The song really does feel like the healing note you need when you’re having a hard time, had a bad day, need something that makes you believe in a little magic, etc. It’s probably one of my top 10 BTS songs, which once you get further into their discography you’ll understand that pinpointing “favorite” songs for BTS is incredibly difficult to do lol.

Hi, 53 year old mother of 3 daughters (18, 20 and 22). My middle daughter introduced me to BTS in the beginning of the year of 2018. My first MV was Mic Drop. it was overwhelming for me, so my daughters showed me DNA, then i just wanted to know their names... They say you find BTS when you personally need them and their message in your life. And i think that is so true. I have overcome many obstacles because of BTS and their messages. I suffer from depression and anxiety, like many other people these days, but i was able to still take my daughters to Chicago, with out my husbands help, for the weekend to see their concert at Soldier Field. We had the best time ever! I was also brave enough to finally start seeing a therapist because of the BTS members honest remarks about their own mental health issues. And frankly after the worst day at work, coming home to an episode of Run, Bon Voyage or In the Soop, I relax, laugh my head off and forget my stress for a little while. I purple you!

Right now the current 'controversy' is American music critics complaining that BTS ARMY are 'gaming' the chart system by purchasing Butter en masse to get it to the top of Hot 100. Completely putting aside the irony of complaining over fans buying their artist's music, what they should be asking is why the only way we can get them on the charts is by purchasing their music. Why aren't they being played on the radio and streamed on popular playlists in programs like Spotify?

Watching your reaction is like gift to me. I was awake at 4am to watch BTS'S online concert this morning. It's a concert that celebrated their 8 year anniversary and it was my first Festa experience. I became army after Dynamite came out, so it was around September 2020, and I've been hooked on KZread on a daily basis just to see BTS content bc I just love them so much. While you can see they're are alot of us fans across the world, BTS is still unheard of to many people in the U.S. So watching the concert alone is hard. And my family was all asleep so I couldn't really have the volume up and make alot of noise in my excitement. So thank you for your reaction and taking time, to not only get to know BTS, but also army.😁👍💜

When armies say that bts saved them, they are not lying. The fandom is like family to me. I found bts at the lowest point in my life. I was fighting for my son and my life against a narcissist, my now ex who was abusive to our son. It was taking everything I had and I was drained, exhausted, broke (mentally & physically) and knew that I couldn't give up for my son's sake. BTS and Armies gave me so much hope, love and encouragement to not give up. I won in the end. I also found self worth and purpose through them, their music and their social messages. I found true friends and a family in Army. I am not the only one, there are millions like me who found life, joy and a purpose through them. That's what BTS is to us and that is why Army is so wonderful, positive and powerful 💜💜💜

I had the amazing opportunity to go to their concert in Amsterdam in 2018. I've been to concerts before and they were always very good. But a BTS concert is so different. Because we all know how great and phenomenal their stage presence is...That being said, to me the biggest difference was ARMY. Before they even were on stage... just sitting there in a crowd that is so loving (towards BTS but also towards fellow ARMY) was such an amazing experience. It felt like I truly belonged. And that might sound strange or exaggerated, but it really felt like that. Here BTS is not really known. Dynamite is the only song that ever made it here. Back then, that wasn't released and I had no one who shared my love for them besides some people online. But there at the concert, ARMY was singing along just like me to all their songs that were being played before the concert began and it was just magical. Never felt so united with a fandom before.

And I have never felt more as though I had a purpose in my life than when I became an ARMY. I have felt so grateful and have seen how needed activism is. I have been a part of charities and donations that I never would have known about otherwise. I am glad that I have this opportunity to help people even if it's in such a small way. That tied with supporting BTS and what they stand for and helping push for representation in media with BTS and making history In doing so it just makes me realize that this is an experience that I will never in a million years regret.

and armys are funny like, despite twitter not really being an ideal place or known for the good environment, being on twitter as a bts fan is really part of the experience i guess? the community (excluding the toxicity) the goofing around, the adorable struggles like being out of it or freaking out over new bts contents together. even having movie nights together and just having a convo on the comments. a lot of times really, being part of the community makes my day. when im having a bad day i go to twiiter then there's one army who's really being so hilarious or relatable. its also adorable and amazing how (especially student armys) ask for help in homeworks and someones gonna be in the comments explaining it or when news about bts or their company or both covers a complicated topic some armys wont get it and just reply "baby words please" and someones there to save the day. its amazing really😊 😊

I, myself, am a 63 years young fan since 2017. Getting a ticket is like going to a war zone and finally be able to get the ticket but couldn't go due to this pandemic & cancellation of the concert. It will be even harder to get their ticket in the future cuz Army family is growing even more.

There’s a reason we need informative videos by people like some armys who actually know and/or studied/researched well on BTS, because the media and news weren’t cutting it for years. Too many misinformation gets passed around in a blink of an eye. If the media is the only source of information, then people are gonna believe that they are exactly just a boyband and k pop fad that will go away, because the little girls who grow up and move on to the next thing. They try to appeal to army by “look what we got” which is nothing, because Army know more about news and BTS than the media, but they do it so they can get a lot of social media engagement and clicks to their badly research articles which are all based on their own stereotypes and misinformation. It’s like they think we’re all incompetent. We have doctors, lawyers, therapists, scientists, teachers, etc because there are a lot of us around the world.

We even have a army account dedicated for ARMY struggle tweets (keep strugglin⁷ & Desi ARMY struggle⁷), hourly BTS account(s). A BTS fashion account, BTS throughout years, BTS on Billboard, Spotify, charts, BTS vote, BTS hastags, Bangtan New's network (Bangtan New's network is the best ARMY account to exist, if you don't agree then you can argue with the wall 😀🤚) and etc. Ngl it's fun to be part of ARMY stan twt. We clown each other, cry with each other, we even fail BTS exams together (☠). We sometimes have to deal with Locals, kpopies and those two Fandoms more specifically. It sometimes gets a bit toxic but overall it's still fun to be there-
