This aged well

Playground has been a super consistent studio with great output, but keeps getting looked over because they make racing games. Mind you that their racing games are the best racing franchise since 2013, that it even over shadowed its original base forza motorsports and made GT to go back to the drawing board. But people just say "its just a racing game", meanwhile you have EA trying to make need for speed big again and failing. Ubisoft trying to copy horizon with the crew 2 and still failed, codemasters made outrush but it died. Thats alright, because with their record we can only imagine how carzy fun fable will be.

The Sega/Xbox alliance is going to bring some very awesome treats as time goes on. I for one would jump for joy if we got the Saturn and Dreamcast libraries on gamepass. Then Sega CD. Bring those forward then reveal a rebooted golden axe, altered beast, Alex the kid. The 80s/90s was the best time to be a kid.

Then add th very best titles/franchises from Atlus!!! Honestly there is one rare, relatively unknown game I'd love to see remade on modern consoles because it would be huge and that's Infinite Space for the DS!!! It's an epic space opera RPG/strategy!!!

In my opinion Game Pass Ultimate should always include the "First DLC" in any Microsoft published games. Trying to sell Game Pass Ultimate just on access to Streaming and Cross Platform play isn't enough. I don't expect all DLC to automatically unlock with Ultimate, but it would help a lot if Ultimate subscribers would get some kind of bonus content in every first party game.

@@TumultuousM Paying 50% more for Ultimate is far more than buying a few DLCs, but until Xbox Live Gold is ended we're still forced to buy Ultimate for online access.

I think this is the longest podcast that I've seen it was longer than an average movie but it was cool because there was a lot of content.

I really love this podcast. It's one of the three I listen to regularly... So I give this critique with love, Rand you really need to think outside of your Twitter bubble. You often talk about how "everyone is saying X or now everyone hates Y," because of interactions or threads you follow on Twitter. I promise you the majority of people have no care in the world of what Digital Foundry said about Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm only telling you this because sometimes I feel like you fuel the fire by giving a lot of the naysayers air. You don't need to prove anyone wrong or call anyone out. You could just talk about what you love or think of the game or any topic without bringing up some supposed controversy.

I subscribe to the audio podcast but while I've stumbled onto this youtube page just wanted to say I FUCKIN LOVE RAND. Great voice in gaming and the xbox community.

Because of you guys I played IT TAKES TWO with my kids.. We had so much fun!! We literally had the best time ever, such a great game. So much fun!! 👍👍👍

Im in complete agreement with what that person said about an xbox platform fighter. It's not that they haven't been doing amazingly, but I'd like to see more of these xbox franchises come out and cement themselves. right now a crossover fighter would feel like, sure yeah we've got doom guy and all, but most of these characters didn't really have their beginnings with xbox or still don't feel associated with it yet. but when we get more characters like senua, the quake reboot's protagonist, etc etc, I think it will be really cool to see them do this.

Would like next Horizon to follow footsteps of Test Drive unlimited, Maybe we can step outside of the car? or an AAA destruction wreckfest type of game

Stepping outside the car - maybe you are armed with photography equipment. A stronger cinematic narrative would also help garner Game of the Year nominations.

I think it would be cool to have a mode in forza where the cars do crash and disintegrate (burnout) and maybe they would use non licensed cars in that scenario also you could have the ground tear apart as well like in (split 2nd) so there's a bunch of different things that could be done in a DLC category.

Yeah, there's a few racing games that can be borrowed from and combined to make the best arcade racing game/dlc/mode!! Twisted Metal, Split Second, Camageddon etc all have some excellent gameplay that can be put I an alchemists device to derive the purest essence of each and combine them to make pure gold!

Rand I think you would really like the sword of truth series by terry goodkind it’s one of my favorites like WofT

Metroid dread isn’t nostalgia, it’s just good. I am the prime candidate for this as Metroid Dread is like the first Metroid game I’ve played for more than an hour and beat, and I think it’s a GotY contender. It doesn’t do anything new for the metroidvania formula but imo it doesn’t have to as it is just one of the best forms of it.

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading do the narration and they're pretty great I think. You might be able to find a sample though here on yt to check. Just know that the wheel of time is a huge commitment lol at 14 books. But I know it's considered one of the greats for a reason, though it can drag in places with the amount of detail robert jordan goes into.

1:50:00 Jez is right. This is exactly what a Remedy developer said, the Series S will be better with time and next-gen engines and games. Because it will then have more time and focus for optimization first of all, and then use the SSD to mitigate RAM limitations, and all other CPU and GPU efficiency features that are still not utilized.

As Phil said, it will actually load faster than Series X because it’s not loading as many textures and has a lower resolution. I have one and have been so happy with it.

@@matthewmedina6170 it's actually the fastest loading console probably ever from dashboard to in-game using quick resume, which is around 4 seconds that is crazy fast. I have one too.

There is a market for VR and you’re exaggerating the amount of people that get sick. Not everyone suffers from motion-sickness. Also, I have an Oculus Quest 2 which is completely wireless.

@@TheDayMang I agree with you about about the Kinnect and gimmicks, but as an Oculus Quest 2 VR is not a gimmicks. I've had one for about a week and am blown away by it. Try it out. For Xbox I'm just saying it would be nice to have that option and I think Xbox can make VR better for the future.

I think you guys are really failing to recognize how far VR has come. I bought my first headset a few days ago and it is really far more advanced than I was expecting. I get car sick and sea sick easily and have had no issues with motion sickness.

Early acces is different than release date

To use your Netflix analogy, we actually know a lot less about that than Gamepass. Rarely does anyone ever mention a Netflix date of a movie, it just is there one day unless it's a huge star release. I'm really not confused or even slightly upset at Gamepass. It's giving me an amazing game for free I'd otherwise buy. The people who paid deserve early access, I don't really understand why I should be upset about waiting a couple days.

I’m so glad you guys brought up these video game awards so I can vent. I was watching the real deal podcast with dealer and the gang. I think Tim dog said the game they were probably going to win the game of the year is some game where a girls parents are getting separated and she makes them into dolls or something and the parents have to stop fighting and work together. I’m guessing the parents working together will save their marriage well F me. Jesus Christ are you serious. Okay I get it it’s so sad and traumatic for a kids parents to get a divorce. Mine did and I couldn’t give a F. My god it was great they got a divorce. I got some peace because of it. Get that girl a shrink. She’s a child. If you left kids run the world people would have recess all day and eat cookies. She’s a child. She doesn’t know if her dad was stepping out on her mom. Or if her mom was tossing it to everyone but her husband. My point is a game about a child’s parents getting divorced is unrealistic. To a kid everything is so massive. But it’s a child and children don’t u derstand how the world works. But as of game of the year no. If they want something like this nominated create a Cann video game festival. What are games about making money and selling consoles. How many consoles do you think this game about a kids parents separating. And honestly I don’t care. Microsoft Sony and Nintendo need to create their own awards. I understand Microsoft and Sony going to these awards show to announce stuff. But why can’t we celebrate a game that is fun to play and we all enjoy. Why does something have to be dramatic or heartbreaking to win an award. Whatever happened to fun and enjoyment. That’s why we buy these systems and build 3,000 pc’s. No one is spending all this money on a PC to play a game about a kids parents getting divorced. And as for these writers who choose these games to nominate. You’re reviewing videos games. You’ve already wasted you’re degree with the career you’re doing. So trying to pick games based on it’s so touching and compassionate. Lol you write video game reviews. Deal with it. Video games are fun and a hobby. No one is buying a console to cry over a kids parents separating. Skip the this lame video game awards

For Metroid Dread the game opens up backtracking as you progress, it definitely has some linear feel earlier, but opens up a lot as it goes on. Also if you think it's linear go check out the speed runs lol.

@@xBINARYGODx Just my opinion it's a good game, but a lot of metroidvania style games have linear like starts that open up for back tracking later. I felt the same way he did when playing early due to the options limited for back tracking, but appreciated things opening up later. It's not a perfect game, but no game is. For a metroid game it's a solid entry into the series that brings back enough past things to enjoy & adds some new stuff to mix things up. I think adding in things that go well for speedrunners is a good game design though to contrast your opinion though as well.

You can reverse you gallbladder problems. Do your research before you remove it.

horizon 5 is a buggy mess. the games graphics are top notch. but there are major issues with this game at launch. i love this franchise, but not a fan of getting screwed on pre orders. this game is not goty.

Rand I’ve been saying for years the UK map sucked. Horizon 3 was the best until now. When they rumored to have the game based in Tokyo I was like F. Small city areas suck. Nothing against England. It’s no meant for driving. Maybe Isle of Man.

Ray Tracing is not over rated, it's just that we are not anywhere near having ACTUAL ray tracing in games. Real ray tracing is where all light, shadows, reflections etc are done using the system like in Keyshot or Cinema 4D but it's unbelievably intensive.

Jez - Don't let them remove the gallbladder. There are natural remedies you can do to reduce/break down the gallstones and pass them. I had horrible pain from my gallbladder for the same reason. Fetal position on the ground kind of pain. I used a dietary method to get rid of them and haven't had problems since, for at least ten years now. Once you remove that gallbladder, you don't get it back.

I was the same as jez and had mine removed 8 years ago. In and out procedure and I havent had a problem without it except for having to go to the bathroom after I eat a meal but that has slow alot over the years.

I tried a gallbladder flush and had very Zen like exerience and felt better in lots of ways, but for me, it did not solve my Gblad issues. Here I am 7yrs later and no gallbladder. Apple cider vinegar is my friend along with digestive enzymes when required and avoiding bad fats. Either way.... SUB TO DR BERG!!!!! EVERY ONE SHOULD!!!!!!

NFT's aren't that strange, they are just unique signatures for digital items. The results of NFTs will be what happens with CSGO skins, the NFT just makes it so people can't hack the skins to make them or copy them.

Jez, I love your perspective, however I personally believe your take on Metroid Dread is just completely wrong. It is an extremely polished, good narrative, and ready day one without a patch game. I don’t think it’s just “nostalgia”, this is what Nintendo does. They usually make highly polished, extremely fun games. I agree it doesn’t so much new, but it does it all at an extremely high level. Forza Horizon is in theory the same game as FH4, just polished.

With this Sega deal you have to give props to Sara Bond again. She’s killing it.

Yea Metroid dread, cod, spider man dlc, god of war ragnorak assassins creed Valhalla, hitman 3, elden ring, grand theft auto 5 all just reskins with the same boring gameplay and settings. Where Xbox games like forza 5 and halo infinite are brand new iterations with greater attention to detail than any other game this year hands down! Playground studios best in the business of course!.. all those racing games they’ve made through the years.. perfection. Can’t wait to play them both on gamepass day one?!?!! Who cares if people are playing it before it comes to gamepass and both games will tie this year for goty. They’ll make an exception for halo because it’s so amazing! Who needs a story with an adult theme👎 yuck. Xbox on top again fellas.. doesn’t matter what the sales are because who cares right? Go Xbox
