The original Xbox One model is the best looking Xbox console, in my opinion. The VCR-design is amazing, and I for one absolutely love it. And I also love the original PS4's 80's radar system-looking design as well. In both cases, I absolutely hate the redesigns and that's why I've not upgraded to either the PS4 Pro or the Xbox One X

Adam, there is a setting on the Xbox one where you can change the Kinect back to using "Xbox" instead of "Hey Cortana", effectively disabling Cortana.

I switched Cortana off as well. Launching games, going to apps is a pain with Cortana, she too often goes off to do searches and stuff instead.

im so glad i waited to jump on board this generation.. at least for sony/MS.. i'd feel pretty pissed if i'd had a ps4 or xbone and then these new versions come out.. i'll definitely be getting the pro & scorpio. i really hope the scorpio is compatible with the Rift, it may well be powerful enough, and of course MS already have close business ties with Oculus, what with their controller being packaged with it. i tried the Rift with the touch controllers the other day and it was amazing.

Same but for different reasons. Original Xbones are getting ridiculously cheap now that S is out, nobody wants them anymore. Going for $160 certified refurbished on Ebay. I'll probably pick one up soon. For someone like me who will only play a few xbone and/or 360 games a year, doesn't care about 4k and just wants it as a secondary console with backwards compatibility it's perfect.

oh touch was amazing! it REALLY adds to the experience to see your hands moving around in real time.. and the way they allow you to see the controllers/buttons in the game is genius. they way they transform into tools in game, they way they feel.. just great. i hope the price of them comes down tho.

I love my Xbox One S! The Kinect on the Xbox One S is a freaking mess of cables! Skyrim with the Kinect was rad, being able to say a dragon shout and all the other sweet stuff you could do with that function... Not included on the Remastered Skyrim :(

You can change back to the original "xbox" voice commands in the settings by turning off Cortana

Microsoft has been doing some really good moves and I'm an owner of the xbox one s now. I still prefer ps4 overall but Xbox has improved a lot from launch.

Ignore the PRO just for now but i have watched all your series but would you say your thoughts have flipped like i remember you hating xbox one (fair reasons) and love ps4 (again fair reasons) on year 1. Just in the last year things have changed massively, but my question is what's your preferred console out of the 2 as of now and why? Apart from that awesome video man! things you have said have come in handy in real life and people said i was crazy at my work for my thoughts but you are right and i have proved people wrong. really do appreciate the hard facts that are often missed by the big video makers. 1 last thing GET TO 100K SUBS ALREADY MAN!!!! ima cheer for you on the day you deserve it so much.

Also i love how this video ended. You could only really say one bad thing about the xbox, only for there to be an annotation that tells us that that isnt even an issue anymore. A real cherry on top if you will. I did go back and watch your xbox one thoughts playlist after this. I was planning on watching some other retrospective vids at some point, but im glad i did it for the xbox 1 because they really did just fix all the issues you highlighted, which were all sensible issues to bring up.

@Adam: I miss the gameplay footage you have been showing, because you are one of the few who did comparisons with different cables etc. So I would like to see a series where you use the framemeister and other devices and cables to make comparisons, because I don't like the RGB masterclass comparisons so much.. I'd rather just see side by side "gameplay comparisons"

This is a great video. As someone who has owned a Xbox One since launch, I can definitely agree with you and say that Microsoft has improved the Xbox One and the Xbox brand in general a lot from the original Xbox One launch/Don Mattrick era. Now we have a lot more exclusive games in the pipeline (Scalebound, Sea of Thieves, Cuphead etc.), Xbox 360 backwards compatibility with hopefully OG Xbox backwards compat on the way and the announcement of the Xbox Scorpio and of course the Xbox One S, which was a pretty good redesign to the Xbox One even though I still love my big old box I got from launch. It will be very interesting to see what they do with the Scorpio. I can see them selling at loss like you said in the video but I'm curious at how much. Also curious to how developers choose to use the power that the Scorpio brings since Phil Spencer already stated you don't have to use that extra juice for 4k gaming. After talking to some devs I can see a lot of devs go after 1080p60fps/1440p60fps with better graphical options and things like that. I think the one thing I want most from Microsoft now that I think they have been lacking the most is in Japanese support. I'm not talking about the Xbox One in Japan but moreso talking about Japanese games. A lot of Japanese games the Xbox One is missing out on like Nier Automata, KH1.5/2.5 HD, Persona 5 etc. It would be great if Phil Spencer worked with some of those teams to bring those games to the Xbox One more for the western audience than the Japanese one since let's be honest, the Xbox brand has always been irrelevant in Japan.

Sadly, I haven't touched my xbox one for nearly over a year since I finished rise of the tomb raider on it. It sucks playing by yourself without friends, which is why I play my ps4 WAY more than the xbox or the Wii U. There were not many first party games that were interested to me for xbox, the rest are than third party and I choose my ps4 over the xbox every time because of that.

I'd read a rumor (somewhere) on the net, stating Scorpio is supposed to be 100% backwards compatible with 360. I'm on board if this is so.

4K 60 fps is really hard to get even on modern gaming PCs. Especially without finetuning your graphics settings. Hopefully the Xbox Scorpio will be optimized enough to handle 60 fps at 4K.Otherwise it's a no-dealer, I ain't playin at no 30 fps no matter how good it looks.

I don't really see 4k 60fps being possible on a majority of games but maybe some. From what Phil said about the specs of the Scorpio there's supposed to be a new GPU comparable to the 980 and a new CPU. The 980 can handle some 4k 60fps but mainly on indie/less graphically intensive titles. I think we're going to see a little 4k 60, a lot of 4k 30, and some 1080p 60fps, maybe some 1440p 60fps if developers allow for different options.

People on general need to stop trying to draw exact performance conclusions between pc and console. They may have similar parts, but the game development and level of optimization is just not the same.

Wow BD-R does work now. I do home videos and I pissed that the Xbox one did not play them. About time.

Not going to mention how often the controller disconnects? The One S's Bluetooth controller might fix it, but the base Xbox One's controller can't think about another WiFi device without disconnecting.

In the PS4 Video You were concerned that PS4 Pro Patches were gonna be "payed Patches" However there is a similar thing with the Xbox One That concerns me Since it has A UHD Blu-Ray Drive in the S Model they might eventually make games on UHD Disks instead of multiple disk releases and not that that is a bad thing but you will not be able to play those on older Xbox One Models And that might potentially piss some day one owners of the unit off since that will still be an Xbox One Game

From what I have heard preview has a update where they can play bd-r movies. I can't check it but u can try

hey Adam idk if you knew you can turn off the cortna and switch it back to saying Xbox on, I did this for mine as I hated cortna

the 4K blu ray drive or lack of in Sony's Case, has been miss advertised to casuals , I have friends that thought the ps4 slim and ps4 pro had no disc drive.

I bought a Xbox One at launch and still rock it more than the ps4 I bought and eventually sold. The BC added a bigger value to me personally and I just dig the Xbox exclusives more than Playstation. I just like the ecosystem of the Xbox more. I enjoyed the ps4 but not enough to keep me into buying for two consoles.

I brought the ps4 close to launch just spontaneously after seeing the "rare" beast at a wal mart. At this part of my life, I stopped playing games for quite a while. The only game I played last gen was the halo series, and thats it. But since then I also brought the xbox one and the Wii U. For me, I prefer the ps4 for one thing, friends. A lot of my friends have ps4 so its so fun playing games, like destiny with them. Which is the reason why I haven't touch my xbox for almost a year now. Its just so boring playing by yourself to me. Halo 5 was fun at first, but then it got frustrating when you have blue berries lowering your rank. I think I will only buy the xbox one exclusives for my xbox. The one "game" exclusive which I really love last year was rise of the tomb raider, which now has pc version and ps4 version.

How come you still have that intro? Sounds like it was recorded in the late 90's. it also sounds like you weren't done speaking and was cut off lol great video tho!

To be perfectly honest I still don't understand why 4K is such a big deal for everybody. I realize that it probably looks nicer but I don't think it's as dramatically important, especially how many people make it out to be. Its kind of like when HD digital TVs started replacing the old analog TVs except in that circumstance it was understandable, at least IMO. I don't personally feel that 4K should be a game changer when it comes to gaming preference. I am a bit biased considering I don't own a 4K TV and only experienced this with display units.

Speaking of mindsets, Sony and MS needs to change theirs. Stop chasing UHD when you couldn't even do HD right. I swear the resolutions that console gamers had to suffer this gen half of which I never even heard of like 920, 880, 800 its a big joke. Hopefully the Scorpio can get it right until then I just feel bad for console gamers...

Stringer Bell UPDATE it seems that all games will be 2160p but most will be sorta 4k idk also most games will be 30fps that is kinda lame whats the point of 4k if a pc has better peformance also i doubt many people will buy this if its 500 usd

in the end my prediction is that it will be $500-550 MINIMUM and will play most games in 4k how high the settings and how long in its life cycle it will be able to do that remains to be seen ( also what benefits will it have for 1080p TV owners which are still the vast majority and still will be in 2017 will it be similar to the Pro in that regard hopefully but Phil Spencer has also been quoted of saying don't bother buying one if you don't have a 4K TV so hopefully this will change) then will it be enough to catch on with consumers ???? lots of it's HERE we will have to see

The biggest thing I want from Xbox One is a removable internal hard drive. That's part of the reason it's so hard to get a working OG Xbox today.

Why not make a slim model for the release instead?

Did you not play Gears 4? If it isn't your type of genre you won't like it much, but if you like the series you'd probably love it.

i think xbox is mostly on the right track i have mixed feelings about the pc support and console upgrade thing but overall very happy might even buy a scorpio someday

PlayStation 4 pro sales are through the roof and has reignited the gaming scene in japan.

Since I'm slightly insane, I've watched nearly all of your videos and retained the information in them. So whenever you mention something that you've said before in past videos, like the ps3 being more to produce than to sell, I can almost mimic the words that will come out of your mouth without hearing them. UI. Adam, I am just barely old enough to be your (barley legal) dad. I was there from the beginning playing Gen 1 when I was (just) still in school. So I feel very privileged and needless to say, a natural fan of your collection of talks :-) One thing I like to mention is the UI. Consoles never used to have a UI. Drop in a cartridge, switch on and play.....awesomeness. These days, I figure the UI is as important as performance (if not more so). I really love the XBOX One, but hate the UI. The PS crossbar system is just so more game-centric and user friendly. I mean it is is like comparing Windows and Mac. I find the UI and OS to be as important as the power in a system console. It is all about the EXPERIENCE when it comes to console gaming. If you are obsessed with raw power then you will game on a PC. Never saw you really go into this in any kind of depth and wondered what your own personal thoughts are. Keep up the great work!

Xbox backwards-compatibility on the Xbox One seems like an easy task to tackle. They're both x86 machines so they don't need some emulator like how the 360 handled it. Pretty sure they can achieve VERY CLOSE to 100% compatibility (excluding games that use proprietary controllers like DDR or that one mech game that used a massive control panel)

My original Xbox one just isn't bulky enough, how do I fix that problem, oh, I know, I'll get the battery pack that plugs into the side of my original model Xbox one, that'll fix the problem

I need a second opinion the Scorpio seems really appealing there are some great looking games on Xbox one BUT I'm concerned they won't support it for very long

At walmart there's new cases where they say "Xbox One Xbox 360" and have the Xbox One type of case (besides the fact that it's still in a DVD case and not a Blu-Ray style case). This is great in general as 360 games like Doom 3 are getting reprinted.

anyway Scorpio is something unique I highly doubt it's gonna be priced competitively with the PS4 Pro especially a year from now when the Pro will be cheaper what if you want a powerful console that can rival the PC that looks like what this is, but it's also pretty much a new-generation for Xbox it's going to have it completely different CPU and GPU with way more power and bandwidth Phil Spencer himself has already been preparing people calling it a "premium product" they've also confirm that it will cost more than the Xbox One S which will probably be around $200- 250 depending on model

I tried a DVD-R in Xbox One S and it works fine

DVD-Rs and BD-Rs are not the same thing. But, as it turns out, Microsoft recently updated the XBox One for BD-R support, so yay.

I am a DIE HARD xbox 360 fan. I got a fat xbox one last year and sold it after 6 months. I couldn't stand, nor comprehend the user interface. Xbox One S is white (my favorite console color), slimmer, it stands vertically, it has the power brick already inside, it has physical buttons, but the user interface is the same, and that to me is the biggest problem. And the lack of must have exclusive titles (other than Gears4 and the Forzas). Here's hoping we finally get a new User Interface, especially now that kinect gesture commands have been ditched. However, most importantly, we need GOOD GAMES, good EXCLUSIVES, preferably new IPs.

I'm waiting for Cuphead. It's been such a long wait but I kind it'll be worth the wait!

spectrumbots42 I have heard to it has to do with royalties owed to nvidia if they were to go this route... as the og Xbox utilized nvidia tech but based on recent rumors of Xbox back compat maybe on the works.

Happy to see that Microsoft was able to turn things around in a relatively short amount of time for themselves. Pleased with the leadership they have in Phil Spencer, he definitely seems to know what he's doing. I still can't believe how under-powered every console was this generation. It's really pathetic actually, thinking back to how much a powerhouse the 360 was in 2005 (my sophomore year of High School) and even the original one in 2001. What were they thinking to launch with such inept hardware this time? I believe both consoles launching so weak is part of the reason why many have been making the move over to PC. At least Phil Spencer is finally making consoles competitive again with the Scorpio, looking forward to it.

I might sound stupid, but the most important thing that Microsoft did with the Xbone this year (for me personally) Was finally getting rid of that moronic language region lock, so I can finally use my darn console in English as opposed to Danish, which I had been forced to for like 2 -3 years. Which in turn also mean that my Kinect that was included at launch is no longer just a paper weight as I can use it in English (Danish wasn't supported, and I still couldn't change it) About damn time, but I'm glad they finally did it. Overall, I have to say that Microsoft has made some rather good choices and gone in some promising directions this year compared to Sony.

I've been really impressed with the Xbox One lately. At launch I didn't even want one but now Microsoft improved it with price cuts, the Xbox 360 BC, and the release if the Xbox One S which will play movies in 4K plus Xbox 360 & Xbox One games run a little better. While I still prefer the PS4, im really looking forward to the Scorpio.

Just my opinion, but I think 4K is way ahead of its time. The Scorpio will be sweet for adults who appreciate what true 4K is and who can afford it. Will parents and teenagers be ready to re-buy another Xbox when it feels like the Xbox one is just getting good? If so it seems to me that they'd be more likely to buy a PS4 pro at a smaller price. I can't see parents sitting in a target asking the electronics department guy to compare the tech specs of the PS4 pro and Scorpio. I could be wrong, we will see!

It seems kind of sad that the standard for televisions jumped from 1080p straight to 4k. It just set a very unrealistic standard for console hardware for years after the fact. Its not like they did that with standard definition to 1080p, there were 720p tvs to meet in the middle, and the 7th gen consoles wern't afraid to have games running in 720p just because there were 1080p tvs out there. Id much rather have all of the games on the new 8 1/2 gen consoles all run native 1440p at 60 frames than have them all running quasi 4k with scaling mechanics and or at 30 frames. It just seems like they would rather tell half truths about 4k than give games specs to run at that would make sense.

Consoles have hit a WALL. Where else can they go? The fact optical disc has gone this far shows that.

I dont think that anybody is still interested in playing original Xbox games, I mean I can only think of Ninja Gaiden Black and Halo but both were already remastered on the newer consoles so :/

I do four Scorpio will output 60fps 4K probably 30fps 4K some native titles not all. Even PCs cannot run Witcher 3 in 4K at mo

Xbox one was my first non Nintendo product I have ever bought. I love it. I don't care that it's not as powerful as a pc, what ever I just want to have fun. I still have a 3ds and my classic Nintendo games. Ive always wanted a wii u, I can afford one but I don't have time for multiple current gen consoles.

PC's have never had to catch up with consoles, its just you got much better value for your money on a console, building a PC with comparable hardware would be much more expensive. Back in 06 my friends gaming PC could run COD2 just like my Xbox 360 but it cost him $700 to build.

My biggest problem with the PS4 and the XBONE is you have to install the games to the hard drive. I'm sure there's a reason for it. But to me there's no excuse why the games can't just play off the disks.
