Microsoft is disabling "Dev Mode" for good. My guess is that the dev mode might have got some complaints from publishers & Microsoft saw the data that it was mainly just used for emulation.

FYI you can map the joysticks quite easily for PSX, you open the retroarch menu, go to inputs and controller 1 then change the controller from Playstation to dualshock

Hi i dont know if you read the messages, but just for you know, loads of ps1 games just simply dont have analog enabled (if i recall correctly, in the crash series it was implemented on the 2nd ep, tomb raider on the 3rd) To make it work you have to tweak in the d pad settings and map the analog keys instead of the dpad. Dont worry about other games, if you do so by the ingame menu, the settings can be saved only for the game running :)

The explanation at the end is the most interesting part of the video. Thanks Linus & Team!

i just have run retroarch on PC and it's totally amazing! Need more time to try all video filters included and settings, but scaling is superb. I feel no input lag at all, just like with my old consoles on CRT TV!

Yeah a few years ago when I went on another emulation kick on my computer, I found the only way to be able to use the analog stick as a d-pad was through an external button mapping program like xpadder. I’m sure there is another way with the emulator but than xpadder just worked better for my needs.

Something to note: Retroarch is only running in Xbox One compatibility mode on the Series. Once Libretro updates it to run natively on the Series, performance and compatibility will get even better.

Just as an aside, but there is a chance, however slim, that the Series S can run PS4 games. I wouldn't say all games, but considering how the GCN can emulate the N64, it's not outside the realm of possibility.

they're cool dudes that make good shit. that's why I only use Seasonic in my builds and recommend others as well. In my country, their support is grade AA. My Platinum Prime unit started having issues, and the walk-in warranty support did a 1-for-1 swap for me with a Titanium unit on the spot, as they ran out of Platinum stock for replacements.

Oh wow This is really cool. I enjoyed the Old days of the Modded Xbox Original I just played Pirated games or went to block buster to install the games on my hard drive.

This is a great example of how the LTT writing team takes a simple topic (“hey you can run emulators on an Xbox”) and expands it into a much larger discussion on the business model of consoles and how it has changed over the years. Great evergreen content y’all.

Fun fact about breaking console security: The PS3 remained unbroken until Sony removed support for other operating systems. Once they revoked the ability to run your OS of choice, a determined effort to break the system's security started. It's not piracy that drives the cracking of consoles, but homebrew. Microsoft is being smart here. Now _there's_ a sentence you don't see every day!

Valve figuring out that making DRM more convenient than piracy is something I think some game publishers seem to not have learned to this day.

They don't care about you buying the Xbox system. What they care about is a lot of these people who want emulation in modding are going to buy the console as an emulation box. There is a very good chance that they're going to try it out as a console too, subscribe for Game Pass for a free month, enjoy the service, and then continue paying it. Xbox is now basically Game Pass.

And you can map out the controller. Once you're in a game, RetroArch has a different menu in the game, in that game you can Map it out.

Just because theres plenty of games doesnt mean it isnt fun to revisit the classics or childhood games

If you upscale resolution youll have even more bugs with textures thats whybyou find lines and sometimes it could lead to the purple flash

@@fran.klindic Aside from the annoying spam - running the System File Checker and DISM apps built into Windows really isn't 'fixing all bugs in Windows 10', and similar apps have been commonly used for decades.

That Anthony intro was AWESOME!

I love the flame introduction for that absolute unit of a gamer

"Make the DRM more convenient than the piracy" Hence why Borderlands 3 was pirated so much because their DRM effected game performance so much that it was easier to run the pirated version.

@@ayylmao394 amazon music has flac too. Just no stream service allows phones use of hifi dac, limited to cd quality but pirated music is way worse at less than 16bit and under 128kbps

@@nemureru_tanuki they almost always change the title of their video, I think the first hour is a eye catching / click bait title, and then it's more of a normal title. Must be to calm down the angry part of LTT viewers

Would've been more accurate by far, since the "everything" title is super misleading. I know the thing is powerful enough to play PS2 / PS3 games, damnit, but they wouldn't work on it.

WOOOOO THE FIRST CRASH BANDICOOT! My first (full) game for PS! Joysticks were not a thing at the time btw, so it was noty meant to use them. And I'm flexing 100% on that game.

This has improved so much over the last 5 months

How is UWP performance on Xbox One compared to Series S? What cores would reasonably run well?

@@MGMan37 well, depend on what console you want to emulate, all 8, 16, 32 bits including N64 and PS1 works well on Xbox One. But if u want to emulate Gamecube, Dreamcast, Wii and PS2, Xbox Series S/X is a must.

Bugsnax is a timed exclusive, so yes it will be able to play Bugsnax in the future, just like Project Athia, Deathloop etc.

Now this is fun! Sure regular emulation is amazing, but to play Playstation or Game cube games on an Xbox is awesome!

1:15, HOLY CRAP, I have a xbox one s and haven't gotten much use out of it. Hmmmmmm, I'm gonna chill on my modded wii for now as m but once this starts to develop more more and more, then I might get into it

Can you do a video on going between developer mode and back to regular mode on a Xbox series x/s. Can you choose to run retroarch from the Home Screen without being in developer mode?

"We're stuck with the D-Pad which is not ideal for a lot of Playstation games". I think people have forgotten that the original PS1 Playstation Controller had no analog sticks. Crash Bandicoot 1 is one of those games that does not support analog sticks. With some effort (retroarch controller mapping files) you can force a mapping, but it never feels quite right.

@@grumpywolfgaming they're saying that at the time that crash bandicoot released, the original PS controller was the only thing out which was basically like an SNES controller with 2 more shoulder buttons.... so that's why there was no support for the analog sticks. Dual Analog came out like 6 months later and the Dual Shock 6 months after Dual Analog.

That seasonic ad is ironically the most effective ad insert I've seen on this channel. It actually got me to go to their site to see what's up just because of how non-intrusive it was lol
