Indeed. What commentators didnt know or hear is that the whole xande crowd was doing the counting for the match to end up. 5,4,3,2,1,etc. Xande totally knew the armbar was out of time so does everybody else in the gym.

Exatamente, guerreiro. A envergadura do Roger permite ele fechar a guarda em caras de 200 kg...kkk. A partir disso ele busca as finalizações ou subida pras costas, fácil. Mas o Xandão veio focado. Ele dominou a luta.

At first it looks like it was mabye a brazillian tap but he only tapped after he saw the referee signalling the end of the match so that Roger would let go. And theres no way a guy at his level would tap to an arm lock that quickly anyway.

There is a reason most sports are timed events. You cant just stay there all day. Do you propose Chess to be checkmate only? Or No time limit? Chess players can win on time just like BJJ grapplers can get ahead and wait it out. I know it deviates from the fight aspect of the sport. But if the rules dont enforce submission hunting then the grapplers aint obligated to go after each others arms, necks and legs. I detest point fighting as much as the next guy. I hate watching Lo, Galvao and the rest of the tactical fighters with low submission rate. I also hate to lose on points. I managed to lose in tournaments to the same guy in white and blue belt the same way. Fcked up early, he swept me and he stalled me out for the rest of the match. I hated that but i respect the strategy. He never tried to tap me in any way. Just sweep and wait.

listening to the commentators confusion about the point advantages kind of shows why BJJ in the gi is not spectator friendly. at all. I love the jui jitsu but trying to figure out who is winning as a casual spectator is impossible.

There is confusion in no-gi too and in other sports. BJJ is not a sport for spectators because it is slow and mostly non-spontaneous.

Em 16:01 pra 16:02 a torcida estava na contagem regressiva faltando 5 segundos. Ou seja, o final seria 16:06 (No máx 16:07). O juiz faz o movimento finalizando a luta em 16:07. O Xande da o primeiro tapa em 16:08.

Why are the Gracie names spelled with “R” and pronounced “H”? I’ve been in Rio, and I didn’t notice this before while I was down there for 10 days. Roger becomes Hoger, as Rener becomes Hener. Is that a Portuguese language thing, a Brazilian thing, or a Gracie thing?

This is the portuguese fonetic. In portuguese, "h" at the beginning of the word doesn't have sound and "r" sounds like "h" in english.

Claramente o Roger tava treinando Judô tentando usar as quedas, mas não conseguiu muito êxito e o fez perder pontos e cair em posição desfavorável. Perdeu uma oportunidade de um tomoe nague, o que garantia mais 2 ptos mas não se sabe se iria ficar em vantagem no chão. Usar o judô no jiu jitsu tem que estar muito afiado.

Yo tenía dudas acerca de si Roger entrenaba Judo, cada vez que lo veo luchar veo Judo en su lucha de pie, si he visto a Xande entrenar Judo, así que ambos tiene conocimiento. Xande sabía cómo hacer una contra ante un intento de derribo, sobre todo pensando en que Roger intentó Osoto gari, sabía que quedaría en desbalance y sobre un pié, pero para eso debe conocer la técnica.

Cicero Passos o juiz fez lambança , era pra parar quando chegou na área de segurança dar a vantagem e começar de pé . Mas como voltou na mesma posição e Roger demorou mais de 3 segundo pra levantar configurou a queda.

@@spetogla3183 na verdade pela regra atual o juiz pode deixar a posição se definir na area de segurança, ele so precisa parar a luta quando a luta vai pra fora da area de combate toda, ai sim seria uma vantagem, como ele ficou na area de segurança por cima das costas do roger e abaixo da linha dos ombros e o roger manteve um dos joelhos no chao por mais de tres segundos acabou caracterizando queda, ao meu ver o único erro foi ele ter parado a luta na are de segurança

Quando o atleta projeta o adversário e o faz cair de quatro apoios ou com o abdome no solo os pontos só serão assinalados quando o atleta que fez a projeção controlar as costas do adversário sem necessidade de colocar os ganchos, mas mantendo o adversário com pelo menos um dos joelhos no solo por 3 (três segundos). Quando o atleta projeta seu adversário para a área de segurança, tendo iniciado seu golpe com os dois pés dentro da área de luta e terminando em posição estabilizada, o árbitro só deverá parar a luta após a contagem dos 3 segundos de estabilização, para então assinalar os pontos e reiniciar o combate na mesma posição, no centro da área de lutras Isso foi retirado do livro de regras atual da cbjj, desconheço as regras daquela epoca, entao nao posso palpitar

Watch it again but instead of watching Xande's hand watch his eyes. He's watches the clock tick to zero, sticks his tongue out in celebration, and Brazillian taps Roger to get him to quit trying for the consolation armbar he won't let go of after the bell, which he wasn't getting. Xande wanted to shush the Gracie Barra section. They were chanting disrespectful things the whole match.

na verdade pela regra atual o juiz pode deixar a posição se definir na area de segurança, ele so precisa parar a luta quando a luta vai pra fora da area de combate toda, ai sim seria uma vantagem, como ele ficou na area de segurança por cima das costas do roger e abaixo da linha dos ombros e o roger manteve um dos joelhos no chao acaba caracterizando queda, ao meu ver o unico erro foi ele ter parado a luta na area de segurança

Você tem que ser melhor que seu adversário no determinado tempo, se for sem limite de tempo, vira uma disputa de quem é mais resistente, é só assistir as lutas do Gordon Ryan, as lutas sem tempo favorece ele porque ele é bem resistente.
