Xabi Alonso has taken a piece outta all the elite level managers( the best over the last 30 years in Europe) he played under as a player........ 1) Rafa Benitez.......Under Benitez.......Alsono inherited as a manager that never-say-die/don't know when you're beaten attitude as displayed by Benitez in Istanbul when Liverpool came from behind to beat AC Milan in the 2005 UCL final. 2)Jose Mourinho......Under "The Chosen One"....Alonso inherited as a manager the off-the-ball offensive/defensive work-rate and that defensive stability too.......as Leverkusen are displaying this season. Unbeaten in ALL comps this season so far and they have the best defensive record in Europe too. That really says it all. 3)Pep-Guardiola......Under Pep....Alonso inherited as a manager that ball-possession/retention........off the ball movement with or without the ball.......precise/tik-tak passing that Pep always likes to employ. Again you can see how Alonso has implemented those attributes into his style of play at Leverkusen. 4) Carlo Ancelotti (arguably the best club manager in Europe over the last 25 years)..What Ancelotti has....that Benitez....Mourinho and even Pep doesn't have is flexibility/adaptability in style of play.......the ability to adapt on the fly. As good as managers Benitez...Mourinho and Pep are.......in the top 5 best coaches over the last 20 years........they all play a one-dimensional style of football. Extremely effective.......but nonetheless one-dimensional. These are the attributes that Alonso inherited from Ancelotti and again you see it in the style that Leverkusen play under Alonso. Leverkusen have are multi-dimensional in their style of play.....they don't have a regimented style of play.......they play various styles of play.

And the thing about Xabi Alonso is that he played for Carlo at Bayern Munich and Rafa Benitez at Liverpool, managers that never panicked when situations are dire. It's almost as if you play for those managers, you're bound to take that with you when becoming a manager yourself.

One manager doing what no one has done for years is not what I would call the best barometer for success. If that was the standard then every single team in the world should be firing their manager every season when they don't win it all... let alone go invincible. How can he apply this logic to any other team? This is so cherry picked. He completely ignores all the other managers who became great and did take time. Alonso is the extreme outlier not the unseen norm. I don't know how he can't see that.

I've been saying that Leverkusen play some of the best football (Yesterday wasn't even their best, you can kind of tell that they're not as good since they've pretty much won the league) and I watch the BL mainly (so if people say Girona play some of the best football, idk because I don't watch them).
