x86 vs ARM | Testing Capcut on the Surface Laptop 7 (Snapdragon X Elite)

Ғылым және технология

I should mention, I still think this hardware can do much faster than even this. When running, neither CPU nor GPU are even close to maxed out. Not sure what to make of that.

For me, the biggest improvement comes from the battery life. I don't use video editing, just a regular user, who's trying to leave Mac. And I really like the Surface Pro.

Shane, I've done the same test with CapCut and it was impressive. However as I've mentioned before in a recent video you posted. I'm also a Filmora user. I recently did a test with Filmora on my Surface Laptop Studio Gen 1. It was 1:15 sec video with some layers and transition affects and it exported in 2:40 sec. I ran the same test on my new Surface Laptop 7 with the Elite X processor. The PRISM emulation of Filmora wasn't too bad. My export time on the same 1:15 sec video ended up being 1:35 export time. I'm hoping that Wondershare will soon make a Windows ARM version to remain competitive with CapCut. Both editors are similar in layout and UI and I think that Wondershare probably views CapCut as a competitor in the Vlogger Content Creator space. So here's to hoping that Filmora will get an ARM version.

When version 2 of this chipset comes out next year hopefully, they'll significantly improve the GPU. It seems that this current SOC has a weak GPU on it. Good video.

I've noticed the same thing with startup time - Things like SQL Management Studio (a developer tool) takes a bit of time to start, and the first time it pops up a specific window / dialog in the UI it seems slow - So I think it must cache something. An example would be opening the properties page for a database....The first time you open the properties pane is noticeably slow, but open it again and it's much quicker

I run Capcut on my Galaxt Book4 Edge and the ARM-version is the only version that doesn't crash. But every time there's an update, like today when ver 4.1.0 was released, the updating tool downloads the x64/x86 version, not the ARM version. From what I know, all other x64/x86 apps run pretty well on my laptop so it is only Capcut that does not work. I've sent a "bug report" to Capcut, with some luck they will take a look at it... And I hope the solution isn't to uninstall then reinstall Capcut from the Microsoft store 🙂That's what I had to do when updating from ver 3.9 to 4.0...
