Awesome video, Graham. So it is doable to reuse the metal spine inserts, but like you said in the video, I wonder about metal fatigue of the small clips themselves, & how many times they can really be reused. Thanks again for such an informative video.
Couple of things here: I‘ve been doing this for a while on my A5 version usually using the x17 inserts (same paper, same layout, fraction of the price) or Moleskine Cahiers etc. I use a learher needle for sewing machines as these are hard and have a cutting tip - works a treat. Also I use the old insert as a template: if you wrap your new insert around the spine of the used one you can use that as a perfect template without any measuring and marking. Most of my reused metal pipes I have used 10x plus and not a single one has broken to date.
