X-Plane 11 - Tutorial: Making Airports WT3 Ready

So your favorite airport doesn't work with World Traffic 3. What do you do? You can either wait for someone to make a package for your airport or you can be that person that makes the package yourself!
This tutorial goes over how to take an airport that isn't ready to use with World Traffic 3 and make it usable with just a little bit of elbow grease!
Grab your copy of World Editor (WED) and Overlay Editor and let's get to work! Airports need airplanes!
*NOTE: If you make any changes to your routes in WED you MUST delete all of the routes you have already generated for the Airport you are working on and let WED making fresh new routes.

    Thank you very much Cap. Just recently discovered your channel and subscribed after watching one of your very entertaining flights. I'm moving towards World Traffic 3 and was also looking at one of Nimbus' airports. But after watching your video and seeing some of his sloppy work, I won't be purchasing airports blind anymore from him (or anyone) and will inquire about autogate and World Traffic compatibility before purchasing. Wed and overlay editor is still intimidating even after watching your awesome tutorial, I'm glad people like you and others give back to the Xplane community and help out those of us who are coming along albeit slowly.     Nimbus is EXTREMELY good at was he does. The two airports I messed with are his older works from XP10 days. His KMCO is stunning but... it was lacking Taxi Route data. I don't know why developers won't put the damn taxi route network in. I mean you have spent MONTHS doing 3D models, texturing, layout... and you can't be bothered to put in that extra hour or two to get in the taxi network and all the gates? I just don't get it. I come from an FSX/P3D state of mind. It isn't a done airport until the AI can use it properly. Now that we have an AI engine that works... we have so many airports that are missing basic route data. It's easy to setup but I want to spend time flying too, not just working on OTHER people's airport projects. Autogate is awesome but I can live without it if the airport looks good enough. There really shouldn't be any reason to put Autogates at payware airports now.

    Started your tutorial working on LIEE (didn't save the scenery file, so I'll have to do it again, haha, but it worked bringing that airport to life). Followed your entire tutorial to add taxi routes to the latest LIRA. I think I did a decent job. I probably need to add a few more GA gates, but it was fun and now I just need to figure out which airports need work! I was looking at KMSP (beautiful free work but a lot of areas where it is simply photoscenery, which is cool, except when there are planes flat on the ground). But I don't want to tinker to much with that airport, because maybe the creator is still finishing it. Come on airport creators. Do what Captain K-Man says. FINISH your airport. Add in the taxi routes, make all the gates usable. If you are going to put an airport out there, ESPECIALLY for $20-30, put in the full polish.

    Captain K-Man Excellent tutorial as usually. I am right with you on you public service announcement which it come to some of this payware scenery. It really annoying that you have finish something you pay for. I would which the Org store would impose to minimum that constitute what would classify a payware vs freeware or donation-ware, in which I think that that particular payware should be in. That wishful thinking on my part since they would never do it. Seeing this video, which I watch in parts, (busy doing wife things,) it good to see whole building process the traffic network that is focus WT3. I had started building the moving gated based on you other tutorial as well as cleaning up and adding gates. Now with this video can go back and start adding the taxi ways (which I will need to do, due to the upgrade) and know what to watch for. I am sure this video will help a lot of folks and reduce the intimidation when using WT3 and how get more traffic in their sim. Again Great job as usual Bob

    Thanks for the comment. They may have been able to get away with this lack of gate data and taxi route information in X-Plane 10 but if you are marketing your airport XP11 the airport is NOT DONE unless you put in ALL the games with proper ICAO ariline assignments and the taxi route for every single runway and taxiway. Period. No debate. End of discussion. No more 'the community will fix it' mentality on payware.

    Absolutely , If they expect to have any chances of keeping any of the FSX Prepare3D crowd over to X plane and expect them to the stay interested. I know the crowd over at Avsim and they are unforgiving if they have to do anything beyond what they are use to. It would make it too easy for them to go back or go to FSW just so that they don't the work on have traffic in their in the scenery. I hope that 3rd party gets the message or at lease understand what at stake. But I do like about WT3, it does have great potential, with customization and updated schedule. It also reminds me of the Al controller app that added sid and stars support to Ultimate Traffic for FSX that your getting with WT3 with the flaps operating on the aircraft out of the box. Maybe over in the org , when the developer is ready to accept some ideas, I may ask him if its possible to add something in there for ground stops when their low vis due to snow, fog or down pours. Then once the storm passes then ATC clears us for take off along with the Ai aircraft. It looks strange if see a storm overhead with bright orange, yellow and red on radar and see the Ai aircraft are still permitted to take off, when can see on flight aware that there are delays. It would be neat if is possible. Bob

    Once again thanks for a great video, will really help me rebuild a lot of these airports. Tired of seeing Ai planes parked up inside buildings. Problem i have had with WT3 and it may not be that is on arriving at the airport seeing other Ai planes all bunched up on the runway or sitting side ways on the runway when coming into land, really bizzare, so hopefully your video will fix a lot of that.

    Captain K, when you import apt file then dsf, you do not have to delete the dsf and then export the apt. If you made changes or planned on making changes to the dsf also (i.e removing static aircraft from dsf) when done, and both are imported, just save and then click file again and now select "Export Scenery Package" and it automatically saves/overwrites the apt file with the necessary apt stuff, and the dsf file in their respective folders directly. Obviously if you do not want to make changes to the dsf you would not import it and then just import apt, then when done export apt to overwrite where the correct apt is. But if one needs the dsf while working on just the apt for example to see the buildings or other objects while making the taxi routes, you can import the dsf and then click on the lock to the left of the dsf, which guarantees no changes will be made to the dsf. Once done one can either export just the apt or export the wholde scenery and the apt will automatically overwrite the old apt and the dsf even though unchanged will also overwrite the dsf in it correct location. No need to even navigate to the proper folders when you do export scenery package. You can see there was a change because if you look at your apt file and dsf files right after you export the scenery package you will see that it is dated and timestamped at the very exact moment you just clicked.

    How do you update an existing airport already in X-Plane? For example, I wanted to update KIOW. I'm probably not doing this right, but I imported the latest airport that was on the Gateway. I couldn't find any other option to pull the airport data. It didn't look the same as the one that is in 11.26. Would I just need to make the airport completely from scratch and then make it a priority over the default scenery?

    Captain K, if you are looking for an aircraft (or anything: object, vehicle,...) like you are doing @16:59 , just type "forma_5" or even just "forma" and everything named forma 5 will show up underneath. In the case of forma_5 I am sure there will be only one line. If you type just "forma" it will give you the list of every item/line by line that has forma in it's name, so then just pick which ones to delete. i.e if you want to delete "forma_1", "forma_2" and forma 5 you can hold control on keyboard and select all the forma_XXX you want, then push delete on your keyboard and all highlighted blue lines will be deleted in one go. Note that for statick aircraft you can do the same, but also note that most, if not all airports built used libraries (i.e The Fruit Stand, OpensceneryX,...)... they label differently their objects, but they all include "aircraft" or "airplane" at some point. For example this library uses "Objects/Static_Airplanes/A320_services.obj". So in the search box search "aircraft" or "airplane" it will give you immediately all static lines, and just mass delete them with one click. No need to manually scroll.

    Ok so I messed up, I closed my game before the ground routes could finish generating and now when I load aircraft in half the gates are empty, is there a way I could regenerate ground routes?

    So this will get the airplanes in the correct terminals right? Because im currently editing the kphx by nimbus and when I load wt3 it will spawn planes in incorrect terminals and there will be like a southwest in the American terminal and a delta in the southwest terminal

    @Captain K-man, thank you for your in-depth tutorials. a few videos ago you did LLBG flight, as you noticed the airport was beautifully made by the IXPT Team, However I recently learned that they have abandoned the project and never made it completely XP11 ready. While I can start fiddling around with it I think your expertise is much better, will you be able to check it and see what might be missing?

    It looked pretty solid when I used it. It was of course missing Taxi Routes and a lot of gate data. Ben Gurion is a gorgeous airport and I'd love to get it WT3 ready for sure.

    I just tried to include an overlay photo in WED using the routine as described in Wed-o-maker. Wed-o-maker says it finished and I should reopen the scenery in WED. Problem: The photo just does not show up in WED. What might have gone wrong?

    Great vid.... and many tips I had missed at my little K69....may I add learning the hard way...... 1. Save as you go… Save as you go… Save as you go 2. Maybe...even validate, fix, save...rinse and repeat....saves time 3. Do I recall that this works with Pilot2ATC? Thanks B! Chas

    Absolutely brilliant and extremely informative tutorial. I have not used WED for quite a while now, since X-Plane10, and I can see several things have changed. I'm guessing wedomaker is something that has been added fairly recently, as I cannot ever remember seeing this. Do you know if the wedomaker application will work for UK/European airports? Hope it does. I don't yet have XP11, but I'm planning on buying it sometime around Christmas, or early in the New Year, and really look forward to getting back into flightsims, and scenery/airport design.

    Yep. As long as there are Bing/Google maps for Europe you can use it. The your airport only needs to have a readable APT.DAT file so it will show up in the Wed-o-Maker drop down menu as a selectable airport. Select the airport and the satellite imagery will go right to it.

    Hello, im trying to fix a taxi route named A7 by the previous editor. The problem is, when i SHIFT and CLICK on the red box nothing happens. I cant find it in the list down the top right either. So how can i edit those tiles if SHIFT does nothing! You said just click SHIFT while selecting YELLOW RED tiles but this does absolutely nothing. I suspect there is a problem with the red tiles merging onto runway 08R because AI traffic landing on this runway stop at the exit and end up sitting on the runway as more planes pile up behind the first stopped plane. I want to inpect A7 tiles but cant find them. Are they hidden behind _START and _STOPS?

    In this directory: S:\XPlane11\X-Plane 11\Resources\bitmaps\interface11 there is a file called; image_background_screenshot_for_stack.png Replace it with your own. The end.

    I made it. :) Just find an image you like and save it to your X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/interface11 folder with the file name 'image_background_screenshot_for_stack.png' Wallah. You don't need to put the X-Plane 11 logo on the picture. X-Plane will do that itself.

    Does somebody know if there is a topic on the form where you can request airports? I tried doing it myself, but it just wont work at all and don't got the time to figuere it all out. I tried doing KOTH....... what a disaster. Got like 200 points of invalidations. Also i downloaded ground routes etc for KFLL by nimbus, but it doesn't have any parkingdif files. All the airplanes just despawn at the end of the runway. I like WT3 alot, but i just can't get the hang of WED ;(. Great tutorial though!

    I get errors galore.. I try to fix it.. i erased everything except a couple.. at one point only had 2 errors but then i try to fix it and more come.. runway not continious. merge nodes. and so on. Im trying to do Stewart KSWF

    Hi and thanks for the useful video. At some point u said about the layer of the rain drops which is not needed anymore for xp11. How can we remove this because when it is rain at the specific scenery with xp11 the effect is horrible. Thanks

    I don't know how to get it off of default scenery. It does look a little.. iffy. I like the concept of it but its not executed very well for sure. I just removed it from this scenery because it wasn't working right anyway.

    How did you get all the different points to change red at once? My computer forces me to assign the departure and arrival runways to each point individually.

    Draw the route that is going to be a hold area. While it's all still selected hold down the LEFT-CTRL key and then select the departure and arrival runways in one entry box. Note that it adds it to ALL the other selected nodes. This works for everything. If you need to make mass changes to say a Gate network, select all the gates at once, hold down LEFT-CTRL and start making changes to one of the gates and it will change all the other gates at the same time. :)

    The way you put the satellite image in. Can that be done without any custom scenery. Ie for creating an airport from scratch?

    All Wed-O-Maker needs is for you to drop your starting airport and save the EarthWed.xml file so when you load Wed-O-Maker it knows where in the world your airport is going to be. Then you can pull in satellite imagery of that area.

    go to gateway.x-plane.com/ and download WMKK airport scenery (which is the default and latest one provided by x-plane) and place it in ur custom scenery folder. From there, u can edit the airport.

    Do you know if what you are doing here will work for the JarDesign Follow-me Car? It only works at a handful of airports in the US. It needs taxi routes or something like it. I wanted to get it because I have a terrible time finding my way from the gate to the runway. I usually end up starting on the runway.

    It won't help unless I release the updated APT.DAT file which is not legal to day in the case of payware airports. I can only release the WT3 packages created from my airport edits.

    I was really asking if this was the technique that would be used to get the Follow-me Car working. You sure put in a lot of work on payware scenery. I saw your comment on the freeware KMEM. I made about the same comment. I did an ILS landing and ended up in the grass next to the runway. Have you seen the Dallas VFR freeware? I get the impression that you are in DFW

    That is my home port yes. I believe the follow me car pluging requires the same taxi network as WT3.

    Is it possible to get the wt3 planes to turn with the pushback truck onto the taxi route? For me they seem to just push back a certain distance and then make their own way.

    Yes. Once you have generated your routes package, load up X-Plane and your airport then you will need edit the parking assignments of each gate. You have to manually program each gate for the turning push. If the aircraft has a choice of going left or right after push it is best to leave it alone and let them pushback straight. You can only turn the plane left or right and must decide for them which way it will be for that gate.

    Great video K-Man. only one question. I have deleted the static planes in Overlay, saved it, but when i open the airport with WED, the airplanes are still there. What I am doing wrong?

    jean pierre Lema if your WED file has the DSF imported previously you need to delete the DSF data in WED and import your updated DSF file again.

    Whenever I attempt to export, I get a notif. Saying my airport contains doubled ATC routing nodes. I can’t figure out how to combat the problem. Any ideas?

    You have two taxi nodes that are either disconnected or are two close to each other. They must be merged. Turn off everything except the taxi route information. All you should see are the taxi network lines and nodes. Now Validate again. You will be able to see the nodes that are causing the problem. They'll light up bright green. Zoom in close and see what errort scenario you are in. If there are two points that are disconnected, just drag one end on top of the other, left click-drag to select them both then go up to the edit menu an select the MERGE function. If it two nodes two close to each other on the same path either push the nodes further apart or click on the link link the two and delete it then drag one point on top of the other and MERGE. Hope this helps.

    Hey K-Man... Thanks for the video. I have one issue and that's with the holding short positions. I did all the necessary restrictions but the WT3 traffic ignors all of it. So I have taxi traffic and planes they take off at the same time on my runways. Do you have any ideas?

    Hrrrrmmmmm... I need to see the apt.dat file for the airport. If you are on X-plane.org PM me a copy so I can look. Your hold shorts all need to be assigned to the proper runways, BOTH ends of it not just the end you are editing. So say you have runway that is 02L/20R and you are at the 02L end making the hold short paths. In the Arrival/Departure boxes for those route lines it needs to have BOTH runways listed for both arrivals and departures. This tells the AI to look at the both ends of the runway. If there are planes using either end, don't proceed on to the runway. Wait. I don't think you assigned the wrong runway because WED would have pitched a fit when you tried to export telling you that you have the wrong runway assigned to the hold.

    Its for LSZB. The major problem I have is that there is no taxiway at the start or end of the runway, so both ends are not connected. I could build a taxiway, but then its no a real airport anymore. Anyways, I will send you the apt.. thanks for your quick response.

    When making the gate starts. If you set the size to the biggest. Will other aircraft still park there? Say you have a gate that will take a 747 will a 737 still park there?

    Yes. The gate size defines the largest aircraft that can use that gate. It will not restrict smaller aircraft from using that gate only larger ones.

    Yes they can! In fact, if you look on X-Plane.org in the New Files side bar you will see WT3 routes are being posted rather rapidly. I did Nimbus KPHX and KBUF and freeware KBUR. If someone else does all the route and gate work you can benefit from it without having to do any of this stuff in this video. Just put the files where they belong in WT3's directory and watch the AI go.

    Hi captain, when I want to edit my airports, I get a message that the program can't read more objects, and my airport is not complete. I searched on the www, and saw similar problems but they talked about layers and stuff like that. How can I edit layers in Overlay Editor?

    I get this on occasion when editing airports. Textures not found, objects not read properly. I typical just ignore the errors and continue on to removing the static aircraft I don't want and then resave. I don't notice anything missing when I fly into the airport since I didn't touch the objects or textures that Overlay Editor can't read. X-Plane CAN read them so they will show up still. I didn't see where there is any kind Layers screen to sort what's on the screen. It would be nice if you could see the various layers that each piece of the airport is stacked on because airports are indeed built in layers. It's how you get taxi lines and letter markings to sit on top of the concrete and asphalt areas and then you stack buildings on top of that and so on and so forth but there is no Layers palette that I have seen.

    I solved the problem, but I have another one....... When I want to add a FAIB aircraft, there is a red sign in front of the file name and I can't place it at the airport. Do you have a idea how I can solve this problem? ;-)

    That red X usually means the object is not found or corrupted. I've never had to deal with that to date so I don't know how to fix it other than re-installing the library. It could be that the item is simply not compatible with Overlay Editor but that is just guessing.

    Did you solve the issue of GA planes not spawning. I'm currently having a similar issue with Bristol International (EGGD). GA aircraft aren't spawning at the gates, however they do land at the airport but disappear as a result "of no ground routes". Yet in the arrival section for EGGD ground routes there are clearly routes specified going to these GA tie downs. The .dat file shows routes going to the tie downs, all of which are of the appropriate size for the aircraft. I've even tried setting the spots too gates but nothing changed. All routes are two way. Any ideas?

    This was a bug in the WT3 engine. I believe it is resolved in the newest version which has dad some amazing improvements added to it. You can download the latest beta version from the X-Plane.org forums.

    I am afraid not. My KBNA is a conversion of SXAD's KBNA from FSX/P3D and as such I have no routes made for default X-Plane and I am not done convert KBNA from FSX yet either so I haven't made a route pack for that version either. It's on my radar.

    Hey Captain. There are planes in the same direction getting too close in the arrivals, ending up crashing into each other, sometimes happen when planes form both directions are taxing into the runway too. Do you have any idea what's up?

    If planes are taxing to both ends of the runway for takeoff the usual culprit of this is that the weather has changed in the last 2 minutes and the planes that were assigned the old active runway are continuing on to takeoff while the planes just pushing back are getting the new runway. WT3 has no way of making ground traffic already taxing stop their taxi and accept the runway change and taxi to the new active. The same problem occurs in the sky. Planes already within 30 miles of the airport will continue to land on the previously active runway while planes further away will get vectored to the new active runway which results in collisions during landings. This is one of WT3's greatest weaknesses is the way it handles wind direction changes. An airport operations file can help a little with this but it can't override the main WT3 logic. Until Greg changes the way planes handle wind changes and gets the separation problem under control (which he is working on now) we are stuck with this ugly collision problem.

    By using the World Traffic Ground Routes in the xplane.org site; forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/category/159-world-traffic-ground-routes/& Can we skip making the routes in WED? If so can we use the taxi routes from the previous WT2 as well? I just try to figure out if these routes are the same as you show us in your tutorial. Thanks for your reply in advance.

    Yes! You can. Save the Departure folder of your download (i.e LOWI). Place the one for Departure in the GroundRoutes >Departure folder and the Arrival LOWI in the GroundRoutes>Arrival folder. Check first to see on this map x-plane.cleverest.eu/# .once you select runway and Taxi routes if these airports already have taxi routes. They are airports in XPLANE 11 already (except the red ones), but you still have to download them from the gateway scenery. Download the ones you want from the Gateway and save to your Custom Scenery folder. If you want and already have a payware airport or one from the Org, that doesn't have taxi routes, download the airport from the site I provided (Gateway scenery) and open in WED your original airport apt, then import the gateway version of the airport scenery you just downloaded from the gateway. Delete everything but the TAXI ROUTES section in the gateway scenery. Move it up to your original airport section, make sure anything extra was deleted from the Gateway airport apt. Check Captain K-Man's video you will learn a lot about WED in case you didn't know. For example you may in few cases want to add some more gates/ramp starts. Although the route files you download from the website you noted, or from old WT2 will work, the ones that WT3 generates themselves are much better. They calculate shorter distance, give you most runway exits available which allows for less go arounds, better use of hold points and a lot of options for the same gate with different types of aircraft sizes. If you can get the taxi routes, and let WT3 do it's thing you will have a far better experience. Most of the ground routes you download, you will have mainly the same plane size leaving the same gate all the time. Even if somehow you get all American Airlines for example they will always be a Heavy Jet for example and never a Jet (B737, a320).

    1) Turn off DRAW PAKRED AIRCARFT in your graphics options, 2) If the airport has Static planes added manually (many older airports do) you must use Overlay Editor to delete this aircraft out of your scenery, 3) Be sure no X-Plane AI Traffic is active in your current flight in the X-Plane menu.

    Captain K-Man, You have a great presentation style. Could you start with a simpler shorter series? My local airport 7B9. I went to overlay editor and thanks to you got rid of the auto gen planes. Can you demonstrate adding the taxi ways to small airport such as this one? This should be a demo class at flight sim con. Thanks

    It shouldn't matter if the runway is a dirt strip in nowhere land or a mega super epic 500 gate airport. The procedures shown in this video are the same. Layout the runway taxipath first, then the main taxipaths then connect the feeder taxiways on to the runway with hold short taxi paths. Add spawn points to your airport with proper gate/tie-down information and away you go. Don't forget to set your EXPORT TARGET to X-Plane 10.51+ or X-Plane 11 so all the data comes over in your apt.dat file. I don't have the time right now to go back and do another demonstration/tutorial video on this subject. MY second job is eating up my time this week and I already have other projects I am trying to get out the door. I'll try to help out via text instruction if you get stuck on a part. A small airport like the one you are doing should be done and working in less than 30 minutes.

    Be sure you are exporting your airport with X-Plane 11 as your target type in the WED options. If you export as X-Plane 10 WT3 will not spawn correctly. Make sure ALL your gates where you want AI to spawn are flagged for the proper airline/cargo company, that they are set as Gate or Tie-Down types and you have the size configured for the type of aircraft you want to spawn there.

    No. Leaving it blank will make WT3 spawn random aircraft at that spot, even if they don't fly into that airport.

    No. Right now AI that is head-on will simply go through each other. They will stop if following each other but to avoid traffic just SITTING and staring at each other for now they will pass through each other.

    No way around it. Download BLENDER then watch 50 hours worth of tutorials on how to use it. I am learning myself. I was using Google Sketchup until they started charging $600 to use it. BLENDER is free but has a steep learning curve on it.

    Yes. WT3 ATC, X-Plane's default ATC and 3rd party ATC like Pilot2ATC will issue taxi instructions to you. If the route lettering is missing or wrong the player will get bad instructions or none at all.

    GA traffic was bugged in several version past but it works fine now, so long as there are General Aviation Ramp starts defined in the Apt.dat file for the airport you want to use.

    Captain K-Man, you may have discussed this in the video, but as you tinker with your airports and make changes, you have to delete Departure, Arrival, and ParkingDef files in the ClassicJet Simulation directory. Even if you just move one node, those three folders have to be deleted, and ground routes have to be regenerated.

    That is a huuuuuge undertaking and I am still learning X-Plane myself. You want a tutorial on making a realistic 3D modeled airport like Flightbeam and FSDT makes correct? There is a ton of work involved and usually helpful to have more than just yourself working on it. A medium sized plus airport can take up to a year or more to develop. From the basic layout, alignment to real world satellite data, to the 2D ground texture maps, 3D modeling, texturing, Occlusion baking and logic layout.... hope you have a lot of spare time on your hands between working a full time job. I've been working on Amarillo for almost 6 months off and on on my spare time. I have a long way to go still. If I won the lotto I could focus full time on airport design. :) Alas...

    You have some catch up to do to get past me. :P I have 70% of the airport modeled, layout done, logic in place, autogates working, AI Traffic working. I really just need to finish the 2D ground texture polygons, the rest of the 3D buildings and then comes the LOOOONG process.. TEXTURING all those buildings. SXAD just released KAMA on FSX/P3D and it looks pretty darn good.

    Really that translates to making a bunch of custom ground polygon files and textures and then draping them over the default concrete/asphalt taxi areas in layers. Its like building a delicious subway sandwich. You pile on layers and layers of textures; base concrete/asphalt, cracks, skid marks, oil and grease stains, rain shine, etc... until it looks believable. This is the concept behind airport building in X-Plane anyway. For now, I am going to remain solo on this project because this is my test project to see if I have the skills needed to make payware airports. I'll keep a future collab in mind.     Most definitely worth it if you care about lots of AI traffic running around the airport. I would give us a little more time to finish building up the route database unless you fly mostly default airports then you should be good to go. I don't kown the SSG e170. I use the X-Craft series though the SSG versions are on my hit list.

    Yes. But the community has already made routes for the Upgraded and Payware version of those airports. :) I am about to release KATL.. what a monster that was to make! Only for the most powerful of PCs if you want full 100% traffic . :)

    Friendly tip. If you find you are unable to remove static aircraft using WED/Overlay Editor you may have a .lua script that is causing X-Plane to ignore the "Draw parked aircraft" setting. Read the thread here: forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/130379-disable-draw-parked-aircraft-from-settings-menu-dont-work/ In my case the LUA script VMI-twick_VR contained the line... static_plane_density = get( "sim/private/controls/park/static_plane_density" ) ...which was causing static planes to be drawn regardless of the setting selected in the X-Plane graphics settings. If you're using a 3rd party traffic plugin like World Traffic or X-Life you know how annoying this can be.

    Lol, than it means that you should to prepare your sceneries for flights with WT3 as same as with X-Life. At past you said that X-Life is much worse than WT3 cause of unready part of sceneries, but we see same situation with WT3. So, I'll try better freeware X-Life and will think about Deluxe version, than almost payware WT.

    It is not better because 10 planes in X-Life on the screen eats my frames. WT3 I don't start seeing a frame issue until I am well past 100 planes... and they look better too. X-Life is good for freeware but WT3 operates better in my opinion.
