Good morning! 13 below zero Fahrenheit here in sunny northwestern Minnesota! I heard you mentioned "nung chuk" Mom used to scraped the leftover cooked rice with rice water for us also sometimes she scraped the pot rice and fried it with bacon fat and add salt for a treat.😊

Another idea is to add some sweet potato in it. It’s very cold in Chicago too! Lucky we have no school tomorrow. Have you been to Taishan?
