I think they were going hardcore early on to differentiate the show from the other superhero cartoons that came before it. Before X-Men and Batman: The Animated Series (Both of which came out within a month of each other), the only superhero cartoons that existed were extremely lighthearted shows like Super Friends and Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

What’s even more fucked up is that Magneto was forced into being part of the Sonderkommando, which were a group of Jews that the nazi forced into forced labour in Auschwitz. Their job was to actually burn the corpses of the people that died in the gas chambers, and in a Magneto comic is stated that by the time that he managed to scape the concentration camp he had seen and disposed of about 250K corpses. So this would probably make it even more painful for him…

I prefer to have think Xavier had just been pretending for decades that magneto's helmet worked so his friend could live without fear of him. In reality, Xavier just wouldn't read or manipulate his mind on principal alone...unless his life depended on it...

so was it actually canon? or like another comment said, did Xavier just pretend it worked? It's possible it made it harder for Xavier to read Magneto's thoughts, so he might actually have to put in some real effort, up the power one might say. Think of those stories we all hear about how oh that mom lifting a car off her baby because of the adrenaline, but applied to a telepath. So maybe because Xavier got scared it pushed him mind into a state where it could much more easily exert his power by the opening of Magneto's Helmet, where we see his brilliant face. Again, that's not the only opening, as even where one's neck is would also be also point of entry for a telepath, think if you were going to put a phone in a Faraday cage

And yet no one points out that Magneto is emulating the nazis. Its sad, but Magneto ultimately is what Hitler wanted him to be, a former Jew who gave up his religion and culture to promote a "master race." Even sadder when you realize no one ever points this out.

There are many factors why this particular scene is funny: 1. It shows that Magneto’s vengeful actions against the human race was the result of his own trauma as a child. Not even considering his *OWN* mother and father were human. 2. For Charles to dive Magneto into the trauma that scarred him is quite extreme. He could’ve knocked him out, show him memories of his parents, but no… he had to bring him back the holocaust. To relive its horrors and further dividing him from coming to terms with it. 3. His eyes when Charles did it. I mean its just funny!

The animation and voice acting may be cheesy but this scene is still incredibly disturbing to watch. What Xavier did was probably one of the worst things you could do to somebody with PTSD but it was sadly necessary otherwise Magneto would've killed him. Even so, as somebody with PTSD myself, I shudder to imagine what it would be like to be forced to relive one's worst memories like that. It's bad enough that I occasionally am reminded of my trauma, recalling it can be painful at times, so I can't imagine actually mentally reliving it as if it were happening a second time which I assume was what was happening here.

This is why I love Xavier... He may have a utopic dream and a good moral standards (fun fact: He doesn't even kill villains because he believed that even villains fight for a dream, and he believes that any dream is a dream worth fighting for, more than anything), but he can go extreme lengths, such as activiting mental issues within someone or recruit children & literally deploy them in war... But of course, he doesn't always go extreme, he can shut off someone's brain or forcefully change their point of view, but performing those acts goes against & opposes the dream he's fighting for.

People organize conquer territories establish their own law and order and military and that’s how every country became what it is today through military power and expansion. Two things, first how is Xavier using his mind through magnetos helmet which is designed specifically to prevent Charles to get in magneto’s head and two right before this rogue tries to take away magnetos power but it has already been proven that he is immune to her powers and that she also knew that (this could all make sense if they don’t consider ‘97 and the original show cannon to eachother)

In X-Men '97 Episode 2 Magneto said that he create a new helmet to repel Xavier's telepathy

Xavier: "Y tú encuentras sabiduría en toda esta destrucción?" La estupidez que Magneto quería hacer destruyendo todo y llevar a la guerra a sus seguidores contra los enemigos de sus ideales es algo que todavía se ve hasta ahora con las guerras que hacen los políticos por sus ideales geopolíticos. El mundo actual sigue con esa mentalidad atrasada de hace décadas. Ej Rusia en Ucrania; Israel en Gaza. Y desgraciadamente estas guerras procrearán muchos Magnetos todavía: gente llena de traumas, irá, odio, tristeza y resentimientos.

Anyone notice magnetos eyes literally like going out of balance? Like one up and one down? Like somehow the ptsd gave him cartoony crazy eyes in the first moment it hit him.

Xavier has no chill.

imagine if they didn't make his helmet immune to mind attacks in the movies and this was how he was defeated.
