Sadly, I'm pretty sure that went exactly as Wolverine planned, since he couldn't kill him or the EMP effect would have been permanent. So he just distracted him enough to allow Xavier to get the helmet off (which strangely happened off-screen). It was definitely a sacrifice play from the start.

@@jaredgooding7748 Yeah didn't realize I worded that a bit weird. Meant off of his own head, which we can only assume is due to Wolverine's distraction. Though thinking a bit more, it's not really all that strange not to show Charles taking off the helmet, since it would have meant the comic book shot of the adamantium being removed wouldn't have been the last shot of episode nine, and we couldn't start the episode with the flashback being revealed as a memory.

My understanding is that Magneto never really wants to kill any Mutants, which is why he never just immediately kills Wolverine by crushing his skeleton. He knew that even if he pulled the adamantium off his bones, he should heal and survive due to his strong healing factor.

The Beast “what is the sound of one hand clapping” gag was so good. To be honest, he was one of the characters I was fairly uninvested in back in the 90s. I really feel like I’m starting to value his character more this go around.

Wolverine and Magneto have always had a bit of an unspoken understanding, capture, restrain, never kill, Wolverine got desperate and Magneto had to remind him which of them was Omega level. He still didn't kill Wolverine but once he got stabbed the gloves were off.

In this context I've always felt Magneto never tried to control Wolverine out of respect of being a mutant. Controlling Wolverine would be taboo. So this happening I feel was just the breaking of the camels back.

That’s the thing, most of them are holding back. Jean doesn’t want to lose control (phoenix), Wolverine could pretty much rage out and kill everyone that gets in his way, Cyclops wears his visor to control his powers better but also dampen them, Gambit (rip) asked mister sinister to nerf his powers otherwise he could lose control and blow up anything, including the earth etc..

Magneto on the other hand had no issue being violent and he had perfect control of his powers. He just chose to spare the x men regardless.

Magneto's EMP wave didnt just "take out the wifi" , it took out all power and circuits on earth. Planes would have crashed, people in hospital on life support would have died, people in cold climates would have frozen to death, and if it continue the cosmic rays from the sun would kill alot of life on earth. He killed tens of thousands at least and it would have lead to a genocide. Wolverines attitude was justified. I've watched alot of reactions to this ep and people seem to mis-understand the severity of his actions in this, it wasn't just the sentinels getting frozen. EMP's are far more of a threat than people realise.

I wouldn’t say Charles is dumb but his empathy for all humans and mutants clouds his judgement. Magneto had two great lines (among many) to Professor X - something to the effect of “Now you have finally found the mettle to do what’s necessary” when he put his helmet on his head and when he said “You’re a traitor to your race”. Whoa. Especially the latter is heavy, cuts to the chase, and is loaded with less than seven words. Amazing writing. Also, Charles held his power back too from invading Magneto’s mind to control him. The thing is they are both right. It’s the path on how to move forward that’s messy and they need their ideologies to converge that wouldn’t result in a genocide of humans or mutants.

She grew up and that whole episode was a giant speed run recap for those who didn't see the 1st 5 seasons. Jubilee had to participate in stopping what would be the extermination of her second family. Cause unlike the video game there was no extra lives - a preview to the Genosha Massacre in episode 5. Jubilee didn't even get to enjoy her birthday, and genocide was around the corner - showing how close birth and death are tied. No do overs, no plot convenience or retcons. Smart on the writers to break convention in comic books to state it will stay that way.

I know that they dumb down their powers in order to make moments more dramatic, but as an Omega-level telekinetic, Professor X should be able to remove Magneto's helmet at will. Magneto is not using his powers at an Omega level to keep it on. Even Jean should be able to knock it off his head.

I can’t help but hate on the writing in this episode: they need Magneto to restore the earth’s magnetic field, but wtf is Magneto waiting for? I would get it if there were a bunch of mutant refugees trying to board Asteroid M and Eric was holding out for them, but he’s just bumming in low orbit? And Cyclops you do NOT need (2) teams - take care of Bastion such that he can’t resume his conquest once the Earth is restored, then get Eric to restore it since he’s just hanging out for some reason… and Scott, instead of delaying the restoration of Earth for Gold team to succeed, all you did was forfeit the goals of Blue Team to an even more wrathful Magneto, leaving Earth to decay w/o it’s magnetic field I guess this is what happens when Jerry really tries to lead 🤷‍♂️ ; entertaining episode, but really sloppy house of cards

It's frustrating how people don't understand the hypocrisy behind the "Magneto was right" slogan. "Magneto was right" first showed up on the t-shirt of Quentin Quire, as a Che Guevara commercial exploitation spoof... which already should give you the idea of how this is a very dumb thing pretending to be a deep thing. Quentin Quire and his squad of bullies were a band of stupid, bored, spoiled kids who represented a generation without a cause trying to be political while understanding nothing of politics. They ended up rioting and hurting other students for *absolutely no reason,* and they were put in their place by Beast and the other adults in the end. "Magneto was right" was the stupid line of a stupid child that wanted to be a rebel without even knowing what he wanted to rebel against. And reusing the message as if it's some deep truth makes Beau DeMayo no smarter nor more mature than that dumb kid. The writer is saying that *racism is justified* and *race wars are rightful.* It's disgusting and stupid. Most importantly, it's the opposite of what the X-Men message has always been.
