When Bastion said "Humanity would rather die than have kids like us" It clicked for me. If the human-sentinel hybrids are more like mutants than sentinels, and if we harken back to master mould's analysis of humans and mutants being the same, it just boils down to master mould controlling the mutation

@@Huff-Productions About that, why should that be a good thing? Considering how Marvel portrays humans, why is having a bunch of them with powers a good thing? Not to mention children of the children of the atom, like Graydon and Anya, are they going to end up being 2nd or 3rd class citizens? What about non-meta mutants? Making any kind of metahumans the norm is not a good thing and shouldn't be treated as such. It's the reason why old stories portrayed supervillains out numbering superheroes. Even MHA addresses this, albeit also getting around most of it by having most meta-abilities be very low, sighting it as the reason One for All can't be given to everyone. Its why I hate Marvel only saying there are legitimate issues with mutants, but not actually showing them. Bastion does bring up good points with Val, but its hollow because we don't see it in practice. Closest was Colossus in the original series, but they don't bring up that issue, and focus on him being confused for Juggernaut somehow.

Yeah same, this may be me reading into things but watching the show I never saw bastion as purely evil because he was never purely bastion. Nimrod/mastermold altered him from conception to think/BE this so it’s almost like he never had the opportunity to exist as bastion (a literal “clockwork orange”). He was forced to exist with the programming of the sentinels in his brain forcing him into this direction and mentality. Part of me wished he didn’t die because I would have loved for them to explore this concept more/see how a redemption for this scenario could have been done, but regardless this is still a solid scene and solid end

@@hetaliafan117 Close. Mutants are in some ways both humanity's evolution and the emergence of an entirely separate evolutionary line, an accident of sorts rather than the result of hybridization. The celestials just didn't become aware of it until entities like Franklin Richards (a mutant possessing the X-gene, despite all the confusion, while his parents would be classified as mutates due to receive their powers from an external source) began appearing. Even the first Apocalypse really didn't have any contact with them. He simply found the remains of an old celestial ship, merged with its technology, and rebuilt it. Judgment Day offered hybridization up as a possibility, but it was a character postulating what could be rather than being displayed as fact. A different panel shown quite some time ago displayed a celestial just full on admitting what mutants are and where they came from. Accompanying panels went into a bit of detail regarding what, precisely, happened.

J.A.R.V.I.S. is what I'd call an actual AI. Vision is also an AI and yet he and Scarlet Witch - a mutant and Magneto's daughter - are often shown to have a sort of romantic relationship. The Sentinels are just mere machines and tools. They don't have the capacity to grow beyond their main directive to annihilate mutants. Ultron is an AI, Vision is an AI, Ultron developed an Oedipus Complex towards Hank Pym while Vision determines that The Avengers were good people and turned against his creator - he even cried when the Avengers decided to accept him despite his origins. The Sentinels have no purpose beyond their predetermined one, and they don't seek purpose beyond their original programming. They're no different than a gun whose entire purpose to exist is to fire a bullet, just as Bastion would rather die than be saved by a mutant. The only regretable thing here is that Bastion isn't actually an AI, he's a person with the potential to grow past Nimrod's programming.

@@youraverageguy4930Pretty much this. Like if it was characters like Vision, Jarvis, Machine Man, Dethlocke, Jocasta, Victor Manchia, Drax (he was originally like an android), Viv, Doombot and Rom the Space Knight that would be morally unethical on the X-Men part to do so. Otherwise the Sentinels don’t count due to lack of an actual sentience on their part save for a few rare exceptions.

@@LordVanOskuro you do know that a huge element in Danger and Warlock's are their journey to understand themselves, right? Danger constantly shifts between being an enemy and an ally to the X-Men as her sense of morality developed, and Warlock didn't care about destroying his progenitor, unlike other young members of his species. He even joined the New Mutants as he befriended them. I think the problem with your line of thinking is that you think the X-Men despise AIs because some of their enemies utilize them. That sounds almost as ridiculous as thinking that the mutants hate people who wears pants "due to their history with bad people who wore pants".

This was actually pretty lame. Dude was a genocidal madman that needed to be put down. Also he should have been way stronger than that sentinel. He was tanking hits from rogue the whole time.

Really can't believe Cyclops would be willing to recruit a psychotic xenophobe that massacred Genoshia and turned half of humanity into sole less mutant killing machines. He would have gotten the death sentence if Kelly wasn't the Senator

You don't want to forgive the truly sinful, don't. But if you can't don't ever claim you place in value in forgiveness if it only applies to superficial things. Cyclops is married to a destroyer of worlds. Magneto has as much blood on his hands as Bastion, Logan tried his darndest to add to his kill count and while Rogue might only have killed one person onscreen it was a far more spiteful kill than anyone else there. Should all of them be killed eye for eye and tooth for tooth?

@@blacksage2375 I see your point. But Bastion and Kelly stubbornly hold on to their deeply disturbed ideals about fear, hypocrisy and prejudice and will not ever stop until their goals are achieved, without regard who gets hurt, guilty or innocent. If they cannot be convinced, they need to be contained so they can never be a threat to anyone or anything

@@blacksage2375 This is like asking if you would forgive a mass murderer who has a psychological disease that can't be cured, that is like saying every person deserves forgiveness... as sad as this may sound, that is a mistake, sometimes.. you have to make a hard choice because no other option will stop the casualties.

@@farenhaid13421 By that standard, the X-Men should have just outright killed Magneto years ago whenever they had the chance, Wolverine should have never been allowed to join the team and been locked up like an animal for all his kills, and Jean Grey should have been destroyed years ago due to hosting the planet-destroying Phoenix. Does that sound right to you? Because it would make sense based on your "hard choices must be made to stop the casualties" rhetoric.
