It's not an exaggeration to say this is one of the greatest episodes in the history of Western animation. Everything is on point: the music, the writing, the action, the emotion.

DC used to be king of the animated shows and movies but seems to have fallen off in the last few years, but with X-Men 97, Marvel is killing it. DC is going to have to step up its game.

you hit the nail in the head, I think the reason of why it's so god it's because is like a short movie. we start with Gambit and Rouge together, they split and he dies and never knew that she chose him at the end.

this episode was BEYOND EPIC. probably the best Marvel thing i've ever seen. folks are *STILL* recovering!

To be fair, Scott didn't lie when he said during the interview that he and Jean don't have kids.

The song playing when Rogue and Magneto are dancing is called Happy Nation, by a group called Ace Of Base. It's off their debut album of the same name, they were popular in the 90s.

*"The name's Gambit. Remember it."* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

The ending of this episode, when Cyclops keeps saying “How many, how many?” - it took me back to 9/11, sitting a thousand miles away, horrified at what I was seeing on TV, watching it all unfold and the whole time that phrase”How many” spinning in my head.

For all of the intense and wild shit that happens in this episode, for me the Logan/Jean exchange is wildly overlooked I think. It's just such a good character moment for Logan when he is trying to help his friend, who he is also madly in love with, and she plants a kiss on him. He could have taken advantage of that situation or let his feelings for her take over, but instead he immediately turns away and tells her "Nope. This isn't something that can happen, go figure out your shit". It's a far more mature take on complicated human attraction and emotion than the OG show portrayed and one of the many reasons why this series is so damn good.

This was an all time great X Men episode, Magneto & Gambit being the ultimate badasses & having glorious deaths, & to top it off they played Ace Of Base 😂

“We shall not live our days wondering if we could have saved more.” I’m pretty certain this is a callback to the end of Schindler’s List when Oskar Schindler laments that he could have gotten more. Considering we see a flashback of Erik’s time in a concentration camp as a child I’m prettier sure it is related.

I cried at the end of this episode.

With the Watcher showing up. I think Marvel is telling us that this is a fixed event..The universe will not allow it to be changed.. This is why Cable says "not again".. He's tried multiple times to go back and fix it but the event will always play out the same. The mutants on Genosha will always end up being massacred

This was the best reaction I ever seen. I’ve watched a ton of reactions to this episode. Gambits been my favorite since I was 10 years old. I’m 40 now!!! Made me emotional. Seeing all your emotion really hit. I hope marvel pays attention to all the love gambits receiving from this. They need to capitalize on how cool he is

Almost nobody talks about Madelyn’s death. Her seeing and recognizing Cable as her son Nathan got me. And the way Cable says “No! Not again” with so much pain in his voice shook me.

All I could think about when Maddison was talking about her scratched eye was a slightly teary eye was going to be the least of her worries after this episode 😂 it was so good!!

yeah magneto was a holocaust survivor in the comics thats why they added it to the original Xmen movie and First Class

The writer of this episode saying 8-10 will be more traumatic than this makes me so nervous...

They need to use this episode as a case study in TV writing classes. Amazing writing.

You guys said Scott was cheating. He was fooled into thinking Madeline aas Jean. He had a whole child and lived with her for god knows how long? Jean may be who she is, but she wasnt the one sharing life memories with and a kid with Scott. The issue is that jean want life to go back to normal like she never left and it just doesn't work like that.

We all cried inside in our own way. RIP Gambit.

How is it cheating when it's the same person? Madeleine is Jean's clone, her identitical genetic copy they have the same appearance, abilities, memories and Personality. The only difference between them is Scott married Madeleine and had a kid with her. Madeleine is his wife and the mother of his child her being clone doesn't change that, Scott can't just go back to Jean and act like his time with Madeleine didn't happen or matter. And it was only mental while Jean was actually physically cheating with Logan.

It’s been a while since a cartoon made me cry, and this one was done so well.

Something tells me you have tears in your eyes this episode for sure but I wouldn't blame it all on the baby scratching your eye....

The saddest part is I bet what he said to leech in German "do not be afraid" was something a older dude said to him when he was a kid during the holocaust..if he said it in English it would be sad but him saying it in German gives the impression that it's something that gave him comfort when he was scared, so when he sees leech terrified like that it was almost as if he is comforting leech as well as trying to comfort himself as well..a small detail like him saying that in his native tongue might go past some ppls heads, but there's meaning behind it that goes beyond just comforting a scared child..in that moment magneto most likely assumed they were about to die any second n used his last ounce of energy to comfort this kid he only just met the day prior...he recognized the fear in the kids eyes as the same fear he had when the nazis ripped him away from his mother and tried to make sure the last memory the kid had b4 death wasn't fear but hope..

Love how people don't realize how Jean who was the first to kiss Logan out of nowhere and then don't try to understand that Scott had a point in questioning Jeans interest in the relationship after he was "cheating" mentally with Madelyne. I mean, the guy is in grief on his son and Pryor is the only one who can understand that being the actual mother and also it's not like it was his fault Pryor was spying on him while they kissed in the bedroom. So the real baddy is Pryor, not Scott. And I was expecting them to notice the Watcher but it's okay tho haha

No, that was Scott and Madelyn who "kissed in the bedroom". They were literally having a psychic affair where Maddy was comforting Scott for grieving the loss of Nathan, and Jean caught them in the act.

Also I don't think Scott would be that cold hearted asshole manipulating Jean's body to have a boner, how the heck he would know it was Pryor who was talking to him being there? Jean and Mady are connected mentally but it's their own will and body to have their actions accountable right? Or am I just not that good with comic book reference shit to have a point? Pryor was indeed snooping around in that time, I'm not denying that. And Scott even said that he was checking with her for over a month but not to having sexy times mentally because he wasn't in a good state of mind for that after all that hell he's been through. Scott can be a overgrown boy scout but not that stupid. Although he did actually cheated Jean with Emma Frost on the comics telepathically but not right now in this show I guess. I think people go hard on him expecting him to be like a rock and not having some breakdown moments after the trauma and it's not fair at all. He is too good and too serious to actually start fooling around like a damn teenager with high characteristics of peak puberty. I don't know, it doesn't feel right even with X-Men levels of crazyness happening all around. If they're doing right by the characters and the source material, they should do both Scott and Jean sometimes dirty too and not just some stupid level of "the girls always right" toxic attitude in Marvel lately.

I still can't understand how that was "cheating" haha even if he was aware that one was Madelyn, he's still married to her and had a son with her. The guy was played by the one who was being played by years hahaha so communicating via psychic memory or whatever the hell that was is a cheating? I'm having a conversation with the mother of my child sometimes so what? Not having sex or fleeting or anything. Jean came in too much late to the party to start demanding trust and all of her expectations being tangible. I think Jean in this show disrespect Scott so much it gives me such an annoyance. I get she was taken and used by Sinister but why is she so mad and being so hipocrit all the time? I'm glad in the episode 7 she is more okay and understandable towards him now and for someone who is telepath and all that sensible, she should know better before bitching around. It drives me crazy hearing Scott say "I'm sorry Jean." Poor guy. But then again just to clarify like earlier. Scott is no saint in the comics hahaha he did some dirty stuff. I'm sorry if I'm probably not seeing something obvious here but everytime I rewatch that bedroom scene I don't understand why is such big thing. It's confusing for me for some reason 👀 Scott didn't kiss Madelyn he was or at least though it was kissing and talking to Jean at my understanding so far. In case someone don't know about episode 7 plot here comes a tiny little spoiler information ... Just like Jean saw through Madelyn's eyes Cable being her and Scott son talking to Madelyn and she used psychic abilities to check that even after Madelyn's presumedly dead. The way Madelyn was snooping around them into that "mind drifting moment". I'm just tired hahaha whatever man the show is good and I guess I'll get it together better from now on.
