@Woodenarrows Thanks a bunch Jim, I really appreciate that. I gotta agree with ya... 12 grams is plenty light no matter who you are (it's always just fun seeing how low you can go, lol). Thanks for the info and back story on the Bios btw. I was pretty sure it was him that came up with the idea (and a darn good one it was). It's good to know I got the credits right though, lol. Hope all's well down your way my friend!

Thanks for the kind words and compliments my friend... much appreciated! To answer your question: I just use a medium grit sanding sponge to remove the paint (strips it off in a hurry!) and then follow that up with a bit of buffing with fine steel wool before polishing them with a rubbing compound to get them nice and shiny. Hope that helps....

Great little stove John, I like the standoffs. 12 grams is plenty light enough and being made from heavier aluminum is a plus. I better order one before you figure out you need to charge more for them :-) Yep, it was Tinny who developed the standoff/bump concept with the Bios 2.2, back in Jan 2010 although the original purpose was to prevent excess pressure buildup and fuel boil over. The secondary benefit of less heart loss from the stove with a cold pot was a welcomed added benefit.

Thanks for a very nice video. Did you choose to use the Bud Lite bottle neck in order to give you a taller stove with greater fuel capacity? Would the top of the Barbasol can have worked less efficiently? I would tape up inside of the can before all the grinding to prevent aluminum dust from getting inside the double wall. All in all a very beautiful and effective stove.

-Piggiesrsmokin- You have NO IDEA what you are talking about. John will not say anything to you but I will. I have two of the X-Lite stoves. They are absolutely fantastic stoves. They will boil 1 cup water in 3:30 and uses just a bit over 1/4 OZ of alcohol to do it. I have one of these in my 1 cup cook kit, and the other is in my 600 ml titanium cook pot.

Every side burner I see has heat running up the sides of the pot. If you used smaller jet holes would that prevent wasted heat? I suspect too much pressure in the stove. Or perhaps use slots instead of drilled holes?

Side burner stove is OK for larger pot's, with more than 100 ml OD. Evernew was releasing a aluminum side burner stove, the EBY639 "Bluenote", 5mm OD, 3.2mm H, 13,5 g.

Nice stove. But I leared from "Martin Fierro " ( the argentinian gaucho bible ) the following : " _El fuego, pa que caliente,ha de venir siempe de abajo " The fire, to be efficient must always come from below . When the flame exceedes the diameter of the pot, there is a great loss off heat.Nice video, however, for te nex one I beg you to clip that nails !

I agree, no need to falsely accuse someone of drug use due to the length of their pinky nails. He could use them for mining for nose gold though! lol. On a more serious note, I love that stove, I have a smaller bottle I'm gonna use for just my coffee cup. I really thought the risers are a great idea. The hole are a bit large though, smaller ones are more efficient from my experience. great vid, thanks.

What kind of alcohol do you burn in this? Rubbing alcohol? I've had problems with an alcohol lamp with a wick where it wouldn't stay lit unless the alcohol used was much higher purity than what is found in rubbing alcohol.
