This was just Scully's way of saying "Hey Mulder, I missed you." and that was Mulder's way of saying "Hey Scully, I missed you too."

It's a serious show, so when they DID do humor , it was just so hilarious, character driven and the fans found it even funnier having watched and known their characters. Priceless !

This scene is perfection. It's shot perfectly, the timing is exquisite, and the dialogue absolutely pops. It has me in stitches EVERY time. Thank you SO much for posting it.

I honestly don't know how they filmed this without cracking up. The bloopers on this must be terrific.

No matter how many time I watch it, im still laughing. Hahaha And this era, gillian so damn hot.

I love that this scene gets referenced in series 9 (when Monica Reyes is looking for a pencil) and then again in X-Files I Want To Believe movie (at Mulder and Scully's home) - it cracks me up!

This is one of my fave scenes! THEY probably had to redo this scene several times from laughing themselves! lol!

LOL LOVE this scene it's so funny, their faces (especially Scully's) just make it, it's the way she looks at him like "oh really" and then looks up like "I can see" lol its just so funny and well done by two really talented actors XD xx

Lol how she’s all I want to send one to someone - a guy. Like he pretends he’s been super productive and she tries to make him jealous by mentioning a guy she met, but neither of them believe the other.

omg this is one of my fave scenes a total classic! I remember the first time I watch it I kept rewinding the videotape. I couldnt stop laughing!

I was a toddler when this show came out, I could never get passed the title screen because the music use to scare the hell out of me, I wished I had the nerve that I have now when I was a toddler to be able to stand scary stuff that’s not scary to me at all anymore.

What is funnier about the scene , the pencils falling from the ceiling or the scene filmed through a mirror with Scully's name tag backwards and the I want to believe poster backwards also.

This was such a perfect show.

Mulder sharpens his pencils too often and tosses them to roof for fun! does that translate in body language! If you failed to get this your missing more clues then you know! the writer for this series uncovers mulders glitches.

Yes, thats to show how bored Mulder was that weekend but in the season 8 or 9, Reyes took one pencil from that ones :P and as far as I remembet that office was burned at the end of season 5 well maybe im wrong about the burned thing :P

That look of pure pity she gives him speaks volumes, without saying a word! 🤣

Fun fact this episode was written by Stephen King, apparently he was a fan of the show and wanted to do one. You notice he sneaked in his trademark "small New England town" but I genuinely enjoyed this episode glad he guest wrote it!
