X AIR How To: DCA Groups and User Layers (iPad v1.6.1)
Музыка
In this short video we go over how to assign input channels to a DCA Group and the new User Layers feature in the latest version 1.6.1 of the X AIR iPad Control App.
Prior to v1.6.1, DCA Groups on X AIR iPad app didn’t follow the standard DCA structure so it was possible to setup more than 4 "groups" via the drag-and-drop method. These “groups” were not aligned with the standard 4 DCA Groups found in the X AIR platform, so update 1.6.1 has now fixed this.
Customizable "User Layers" are also available and can be tailored to each performer or engineer. We walk you through setting up a new custom user layer and demonstrate how to get the most out of each.

It would be really nice to tell us wtf DCA means. Not all of us went to sound engineer school.

Found this on Sweetwater’s site: DCA is an abbreviation for Digitally Controlled Amplifier. They are often used as a Group Master on an analog mixer, however, a DCA works a little differently. A digitally controlled amplifier will adjust the level of each channel individually, as opposed to summing all the channels into one signal channel and then adjusting the level of that channel.

So, are DCA’s pretty much just like buses on old-school mixers?

you can control a group's volume with 1 slider vs number of singer or drums in a mix without using a buss for that purpose@@ChristRecords-ny7mt
Thanks, great tutorial!
Great to see some fresh “how Too’s “ on the iPad app but it would be also be good to see a refreshed app with more of the functionality of the full app for desktops.

Can you please list some specific examples? Outside of being an full offline editor there's not a whole lot of difference in functionality between X AIR EDIT and this latest version of the X AIR iOS iPad app.

@@behringer lock mutes (its in android editor and not in the iOS editor). All the X-AIR workflow its amazing and innovative, just few details here and there will make it perfect. Big fan (and owner) of your X32 and X-Air products. How about including an OSC/MISI input for the X-AIR editor in iOS so you can connect a MIDI or OSC signal to control that editor? Behringer already put that external MIDI controller option in the X32 editor for OSX.
Great tutorial, i do have a practical question, is there a easy way to auto-generate or export an inputlist from the assigned inputs(names and channel number)?
Would like to see a tutorial on Effects, inserts and how to use them efficiently for the newest Air app. I just bought the iPad Air 4th generation and the new app is significantly different for the newest IOS for Xair 1.6.5. You have no manual or video for this app which is VERY frustrating
Thanks for the tutorial. So once that's setup, where is the fader to control the volume to all channels grouped to DCA 1? There seems to be no DCA group fader on the iPad.
Where oh where are the DCA faders??? On the latest iPad app, XR 18. All I can find is how to assign them but nothing on how to USE them.
On the Mac desktop app, when I make a group (4 tracks all assigned to DCA 1), and I mute or solo the group from the main DCA track, nothing happens on the tracks in the group. I would expect all tracks to show being muted or solo'd. Am I missing something? Also when moving a fader on one of the group tracks, I would expect the others to move accordingly. Not happening either. Does the app have to be connected/sync'd to the X18 to see this functionality? Currently, I'm just running the app without the mixer connected.
X air I pad application doesn’t working properly in new IOS update.please fix the problem
is there a way to label dca groups
Just bought XR18 and having some issues with the latest iPad app as of 6/23/19 Can't copy and paste one channel to another? I'm having to copy/paste channels on my laptop and then sync that info to the iPad when both are connected. Also on the iPad app, when I add a new show (Show 2) make changes, load another show (Show 1), then go back to Show 2, the settings are still showing Show 1's settings. Seems there's no way to save the changes I'm making to new show on the iPad. My workaround is to connect my laptop to the XR18, make changes, then sync that to the iPad. Certainly there's abetter way to do it? I don't plan on taking my laptop to the gigs. Am I supposed to be making scenes instead? Also, why can't there be a "save" button in either app (Mac or Ipad) to save your settings instead of making changes and having to overwriting the current "show" with the updated info. It's the only way I know the changes are for sure being saved. Perhaps I don't understand the workflow, and if so PLEASE point me to an in depth manual or a video which is current. There are so many videos out there, many now 5 years old, and it's all on much older software. Thanks!
How do you label the DCAs?
I use the iPhone XS Max, how can I get the X Air app running on it
Hey! We truly need the delay feature in X Air /M Air mixers. Can you make that possible for all users who are expecting that?

leandro soares bro no replay from behringer very poor
does this allow you to make a layer for say a vocalist to adjust a monitor, where you can lock them out of modifying the main mix? If not that should be an update.

Actually, in this version it is possible to have two seperate iPad devices connected to one X AIR Mixer and each be using a different User Layer. So you could have one iPad setup for mixing FOH while the other iPad is using a layer geared specifically towards monitor mixing.

Speedo 420 I second that request for an iPhone app. Big mystery to me why one was never written by BEHRINGER. There are 3rd party apps but have had intermittent problems with the one I tried.
Hi. I was wondering how to control more than 2 faders with a single fader eg. say 5 channels of back up vocals. I’m using iPad with XAIR software 1.6.5.1
@timothyrixner
Жыл бұрын
You can mix them and then control all 5 channels of back up with an assigned DCA. Pick your back up channels, assign them to let's call it DCA3 and now you have a backup vocal group volume control.
what is a dca though
But the DCAs cannot be rename/re-colour, am i right?

Why are all of your tutorials so light on volume.
Why is android xair app so much worse looking and totally amateur looking? Also no update since 2017?
