For those wondering, the acoustics when you step off the escalator are amazing. The sound reflects off the walls but in such a way that it is eerily quiet. What you're hearing is not (I hope) the mic being "covered over" but the actual sound of the wind and ambience inside Wynyard Walk. Its an amazing thing to experience!

Damn! That Wynyard station?! 8 years have changed Sydney a lot. I don't recognize it anymore :'( I used to go to Wynyard st. everyday.

It is so clean.. so clean I'm crying... Its floor used to be covered with plenty of gums... And the lighting weren't this bright and good.. it looked so scary before.

Yep, a lot of the larger stations on the Cityrail network (now 'Sydney Trains') has had a makeover :)

I remember the dark, grim atmosphere and especially the stale air that reeked of car and bus exhaust inside the station. And of course the chewing gum under your feet - and with the passage of years some I could recognize like old friends. Glad they cleaned the place up. But I miss the donut shop on the concourse going down from George Street - you could smell the sweet aroma of fresh donuts even from a hundred feet away. And the old wooden escalator from York Street. They were gorgeous - probably lost to demolition during the makeover. Another great vid!

I often bought myself a couple for the ride home. The shop was always busy from morning till night. And the old wooden escalators from York Street. They were gorgeous - probably lost to demolition during the makeover. Another great video mate!

I'm glad this video brought some great memories. The vintage wooden escalators hung on the ceiling as an art. Very beautiful! I will film this one day.

David Lang Yes, that’s how I remember Wynyard. Change means loss too. Loved the wooden escalators that seemed to go on forever.

wynyard station is awesome.

i'm so missing Sydney's trains.. and woww, Wynyard station is completely nothing like it was 10 years ago, it's incredibly different and futuristic now, so cool i'm crying.. Sydney has changed a lot indeed. I lived in western suburb and went to CBD for school almost everyday. Do they renovate the other train stations as well ? and do you make videos of western suburb ? thanks for sharing these wonderful videos. i can watch them the whole day

Not sure why all the space age stuff - nothing wrong with wynyard the way it was when I left Sydney in 1994.
