I've only had the pleasure of being in the same room with a few of the Real Jazz Musicians of our time. They are invariably the best Story tellers and the funniest Humans on the face of the Earth. And the weird thing to me is they don't share that on stage. Miles set the Mood so to speak. Not that Wynton ever turned his back on an audience. Every time I've seen him Play, he was signing autographs after the show till there was no one left in the line. This is a good clip because it shows the Funny Side of Wynton vice the Serious Spokesman of Jazz. For people of my generation Wynton Saved Jazz from Oblivion! He taught us how to dress, how to introduce a song, and how to bow after the applause. I Love him Dearly.

This is a good part of the interview. Wynton always wakes you up spiritually and intellectually, whether playing or speaking🎶 could only imagine being around all of the masters he spoke of…and lineage of Pops to Dizzy to Wynton 🤯

Eventhough the story's coming secondhand, it was funny as hell. Shout-out to the OG, Wynton Marsalis!

Thank you for this fascinating interview clip! I had once hoped that Wallace Roney, with all of his stories of encounters and experiences, would have eventually written a book. At this point in their lives, I hope the same with Wynton, Jon Faddis, and others who have known and/or worked with so many artists in and out of Jazz.

Jazz musicians are some of the smartest people that you will ever meet. I always thought that jazz was too difficult for me to appreciate, that was until I watched Ken Burn's documentary on Jazz. Jazz is America's classical music. It was frowned upon and put down until the Jews explained that Jazz is an art and is the only original music form in America.

I've spent my life with Classical musicians and part of it with jazz musicians and let me tell you: the latter were funnier, more fun, more creative and more generous.
