A lot of the old school golden era (I like to call Saturday morning cartoon era in the best way possible) gimmicks were basically cartoon characters that would no sell a lot just for the sake of it lol. Later eras of gimmicks started giving reasons like Lesnar. Hell even Taker is another character from the golden era that evolved like Sting and Hogan.
