So they want us to believe that they booked Gunther to lose his record setting title reign on a random episode of raw? The same episode of raw that they also coincidentally booked both Jimmy & Solo to interfere in a relatively no stakes match between Cody & Drew? All while they’ve been building up to Jimmy vs. Jey at Mania? And this was the plan up until last minute? Not to mention that this isn’t even the first title match that Jimmy has cost Jey on the road to brother vs. brother in the city of brotherly love. Sounds to me like someone needs to check their sources again.

Idk Jimmy vs jay for the strap could have made the mania match better. But shitting on gunther to do it is a vince move. Hopefully trips don't do vince type crap. I feel like if gunther and reigns are still champ at next year's mania. Gunther should vacate title after winning rumble. He is the only wrestler in existence that would be respected by the fans after beating reigns. If Cody beats reigns at mania and doesn't turn heel after, he will be booed out of wwe too.

The reason it was believable as not “just another random episode” is because it’s widely known Gunther couldn’t go to chamber bc he’s working on his green card (or other visa issues). So people just assumed this Jey v Gunther match was the chamber match. Just on Raw, kinda like that dumb Trish/Becky debacle they had at Summerslam. Personally I didn’t think he was gonna lose it either. But that’s just because I assumed unless he was going for a world title, he’d be keeping the belt until at least Mania.

I don’t think it counts as a push being pulled if he’s the one coming out of the match with a clearer picture of his Wrestlemania plans than the champion. A push being pulled is Braun going from universal title matches in the autumn to the Andre battle royal at Mania

Glad to see more coverage from wrestletalk about the Vince lawsuit. Coverage is very important.

Maybe one of the 25 writers suggested it, but no, the city of brotherly love stages the uso brothers verses each other is prefection.

That Drew - Cody match had a PPV stadium-level aura to it. Just shows how far both of them have come from hitting the bottom of the abyss to reaching the stars. Hope we can see another match between them somewhere down the road.

I don't believe for a sec that Gunther was gonna lose. Besides the Jimmy vs Jey match doesn't need a title on the line. It's a blood feud after Jimmy cost his brother two titles. Just like with the Rock vs Roman, it doesn't need to be for a title. It's about who is ACTUALLY the Head of the Table and Tribal Chief. Plus as good as it would be to see Gable get the win over Gunther at Mania, I think having Dom winning it would be the way to go. Give him a chance to fully embrace that lie, cheat and steal gimmick of Eddie.

Luke, you are indeed very intelligent & prescient, but I somewhat disagree on the idea of Drew being a hypocrite. What was Drew supposed to do, help Cody to his feet & pause the match until Cody was ready again, when half of his story arc was over his own mistakes costing him championships? He didn't ask for the Bloodline to interfere in his match - if anything, this just adds further fuel to his frustration, as the Bloodline are still getting involved in his business even when he isn't actively challenging them. The Bloodline could easily hold this over Drew as much as Cody, & that would be a huge cause for resentment. It wasn't like Cody had the visual pin, or even hit the Cross Rhodes yet. Yes, if Jimmy & Solo hadn't interrupted, Cody may have hit the Cross Rhodes for the pin - but equally, Drew might have countered, kicked out, or made a rope break. Alas, we'll never know, a least until there's a rematch. Which is not to say Drew was blameless, he was definitely mercenary & ruthless in taking advantage of Cody's misfortune - but I stop short of calling it hypocrisy when he didn't ask for the interference, especially when it could easily come back to bite him.

This could put the leakers' jobs at risk. If at that point something more serious were to happen in the company that needed leaking, people would be much more hesitant to do so.

I feel like the interference also makes the Bloodline look desperate and/or insecure. Why are they interfering in a match that doesn’t even involve Roman? They’re trying to get an unfair advantage on Cody early because they’re scared. Even more psychological layers.

In regards to the Jey/Gunther match, as well as the Jade Cargill story, I fully believe WWE is deliberately putting out false/misleading info to the "dirt sheets/journalists" in order to keep things close to their vest. We're in WrestleMania season and if any potential storyline got out, that could derail plans or put a damper on any marketing/promotional material going forward for the Showcase of the Immortals. Plus, I doubt WWE would have Gunther drop the IC title on a Raw, especially after such an historic reign. They'll want to wait to Mania at least, if they actually plan on having him drop the title.
