I feel like this is the match where you could properly see Trish's potential to be a fantastic wrestler. There were flashes of it before in matches and that Trish was willing to take big bumps like the Dudley's table moment. But this match with Stephanie is so entertaining and they go all out on each other. I'm glad that Trish went into proper training with Finlay later in the year and really discovered herself. It was fantastic seeing her growth at the start of her career to truly becoming a legend who earned her excuse my pun, stratus.

@@Rocket1377 Yeah! I mean if this was 10 years later it could've been viewed as that bathroom break match which how the WWE were handling the women around 2011. The story they had going with Stephainie and Trish was just that enticing that even if you didn't like it, you were still invested. I am glad now that the women are being taken seriously now though and they are producing absolute stellar matches. It was around 2016 with Charlotte, Becky and Sasha making headlines that brought me back into wrestling after about 8 years of falling out of it.

Even before she was a “good worker”, she was bumping around like an angry toddler at nap time and could sell. The women of today could definitely learn a thing or two from that. you don’t have to be Charlotte Flair athlete/worker if you can take good bumps and sell convincingly.

I remember the Lingerie match between Stacy & Torrie at No Mercy 2001 and it even got voted by the viewers as the 6th best match of the year. But then there's also the classic Bayley vs Sasha at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn (2015) where the crowd was very hyped.

The death glare Rock gives Hebner right before the fall is my favorite part of that match.

Also funny....JR references his debut in 99 during the opening match, where he ALSO interfered in the main event, and the he does it here too. Foreshadowing?

No, this was not part of his reign of terror (2003 - ). Trips was so hot in late 2000 he briefly became a face (against Benoit), until revealing himself of to be Stone Colds car attack nenemis. As for winning everything, not the case: he won this but lost a month later to Taker at X-7. You're off.

In regards to the "You Suck" chants, I went to the Raw two weeks after No Way Out (aka Heyman's return). It was March 5th, 2001 at the arena fka the MCI Center and the main event was Austin/Rock Vs. Triple H/Angle. Earlier in the night, Triple H opened Raw after taking a two week vacation with a promo. Also, Scotty 2 Hotty had his ankle 'broken' by Kurt Angle, so Regal made the match. Before either heels came out, I think it was Vince who announced that Debra would be managing The Rock all the way up to WM X7. But, rumor has it that Vince didn't want any managers ringside during the main event matches since he thought this would take away from the spectacle of the main events, which is why Stephanie wasn't out in Triple He's corner and why Debra wasn't out there for The Rock. FINALLY, when I went to that Raw March 5th, 2001, there were some "You Suck" chants directed at Kurt Angle during his entrance and theme. Though, I'm not sure if it was loud enough to be picked up on TV. It was certainly loud enough for us in attendance that night. I was 15 yrs old at the time and this is all based off of memory. It was a very memorable Raw to say the least which also includes Trish barking like a dog and the Christian costing the Dudley Boyz the Tag titles to the Hardys and saying "Of course he'll accept the charges, you hosebeast!" to the the operator when 1-800-AT&T used to be a thing (I used to use it whenever I needed a ride back from bowling, but I'd cheat. When my mom would pick up and the operator would ask for my name, it would say to my Mom "Would you like to accept charges from... PICK ME UP" and she'd just hang up. Ahhh, simpler, good old times.

if Triple H signed only part of his name, with witnesses, that is legally binding. But wrestling logic....yeah

I have a Mandela effect memory of the 3 stages of hell match going on last.

Stevie Richards is such an underrated heel. Even in TNA. Imagine if he eliminated the RTC members one by one before going on a singles run for a mid-card title.

That can of beer that hit Austin was so on the nose you'd think it was intentional. I always thought Triple H getting the W was weird given Austin was going to Wrestlemania with the momentum but Trips going on to lose three ppv matches in a row would've been weird too I guess.

Tbf Trips wasn't pinned at Armageddon 2000 so that doesn't qualify as much of a loss. Austin cost him the Title at Royal Rumble and then Stone Cold himself had to have doubts going into WM17 to set up the Heel Turn and selling his soul to Vince McMahon hence why he was booked to lose against the Game at No Way Out.

This particular No Way Out PPV Event definitely had one of my absolute favorite stage designs ever

"Adam Cole will not be coming out of a clown car for Wrestlemania!!!" NOW we finally know why he left for AEW. XD

2001 No Way out is an underrated PPV and often forgotten about when looking back on WM X7 and that awful invasion storyline

Hardcore Belt was a belt held many people that someone would have a hard time pin pointing who was the best Hardcore champion. The 24/7 belt is really just the R-Truth Belt.

More like three in a row, going back to the Royal Rumble. Road to Wrestlemania 2001 is the greatest 3 months in WWE history.

I love that even Brian's sponser spots, are still content. So much better than just reading off a commercial

I guess the idea is that these losses would feed into Austin's heel turn later, but it is AMAZING that the two went through this entire program without Austin scoring a single real win over Triple H. Simply amazing.

I'd say so, remember in the build up to Mania after this, Austin told Rock he needed to beat him and would do anything to do so (which he did course in siding with McMahon), so this match especially woulda been definite foreshadowing for that.

The keyboard edit of 'my time' in the background whilst Haitch promotes surfshark is f'n genius 😆 🤣

I loved this PPV. This the second one I watched when I got back into wrestling in 2018. Thanks for covering this Zane and thank you to the patrons for suggesting it.

I can't imagine that Kaientai weren't told what the gimmick was supposed to be and that they, themselves, didn't find it funny.

I'm surprised Brian failed to mention that it was during the build-up to this show was when Kurt started using the ankle lock.

This had to have been filmed before Big Show to AEW was a thing, but it's all I could think about while watching this lol

I thought of the Bryan/Orton title match at Night of Champions 2013 personally.

Man, I remember watching that Hebner F-up live when it happened and wasn't even surprised. It had to happen eventually, because for YEARS he would to this stupid body flop thing whenever a wrestler would kick out at 2. The problem was he would do the flop about a few beats BEFORE the wrestler would kick out, so he would ruin the shock of the kick out EVERY TIME. You can see it clearly at 23:26 when he "flops" BEFORE Angle kicks out, so it was just a matter of time before he flopped when the wrestler stayed down. lol

13:55 Impressed on whoever did the color in each frame and feel bad for him/her cause that must have been a bit of pain to do.

Everything Rock and Angle did deserved at least 4 star, just a bit random from Big Show and Earl getting it wrong. Anyone who thinks Rock was just a promo guy, go back and watch his matches during this time.

w3 is the 1st wrestling centric channel I've seen take the trouble to edit blood color to use the clip. thumbs up for that.

Not often do I pop for an ad, but “you are the shovel” made me pause the video laughing.

If I remember correctly, I think Edge was responsible for the birth of the "You Suck" chants during his and Angle's "hair vs hair" feud.

Started in a backstage segment on Smackdown in 2002 where Edge ribbed Kurt with some 8x10s that had some jokes written on the back like "I'm a loser!", "And a dork.", And "P.S I have no testicles.", Before topping off with a segment in the ring where Kurt reveals his new shirt which read "Angle Sucks", prompting Edge to say "Kurt, that is you." Good stuff.

You are correct. Hunter making any mark at all in that signature line would be considered valid and binding.

Normally I skip when KZreadrs advertise a sponsor, but this is the only channel where someone makes sponsorships creative and fun to watch.

I was literally just watching retro reviews and thinking "Man, I hope Brian uploads a new one soon!" And *BAM* 15 minutes later!!! And it's a BANGER PPV!!!!

I saw this live on ppv in 01. Pay attention after they raise the cage. A fan throws a beer and hits Austin.

Now that this PPV has finally been reviewed, it's time to binge watch Brian's reviews of Survivor Series 2000 up to Backlash 2001. This should make for a fun three-hour viewing experience.

Props to Brian for not making the obvious Austin domestic violence joke when talking about why HHH didn't attack Debra instead of JR

Triple Nose was a mid card nobody, Paul Roma type talent (Roma was actually a better athlete). Casual fans only know Triple Nose as “that weird big nosed awkward guy who follows Shawn Michaels around & is Chyna’s male valet”

The 2 out of 3 falls is still my favourite match of all time. The build, the finish, the aftermath that lead to Austin doubting himself, he realises he too is mortal so sides with the devil himself at mania 17.

I don't think I've ever said this but some of the best commentary on this channel is Brian commentating on Taz's commentary.
