In Spain most people are either white or North African berbers. They are the reason we speak Spanish because before all those countries were filled with indigenous people. I found out a few months back that the first aerial dogfight in aviation history happened over Mexico in 1913, during the Mexican Revolution. It happened between two mercenary pilots, both of whom were Americans, hired by opposite sides of the Mexican Revolution. Apparently they both had orders to kill, but didn't want to kill each other since they were both Americans, so they just shot their pistols in each other's general directions until they ran out of ammo.

@@shiroumxm2052 Much of our history is never taught. Once, on a tour of Mazatlan, a taxista showed us the ruins of an old hospital where US veterans from World War 2 with PTSD and other mental problems were kept and treated until they could be safely sent home.

This was news for me. Very cool, but not surprising at all. Mexico is the land of the Aztecs, the Maya, and of Pancho Villa, after all. This video should be done in Spanish and shown to the Mexican youth. They should know about these hero warriors of their great nation who fought for freedom against vile, evil tyranny in WWII. Another excellent video. Being a UK denizen, I had no idea that the Aztec Eagles were even a thing! But my respect for these brave fighters is immense. I'm so grateful for channels such as Dark Docs, Dark 5, etc. for bringing hitherto unknown subjects to me in an immersive and fascinating way. BTW, I know people say weird things about this narrator (what the hell is he called?) but his breathless, furious paced delivery is a major part of what makes Dark so amazing. Mexico also supplied a massive amount of raw resources for U.S. factories and conducted antisubmarine operations in the Gulf, which freed up U.S. naval assets for other tasks in the Atlantic. Mexico actually had a tangible contribution to the war that has been largely overlooked by the history books.

I was in Air Force JROTC in Texas and did the Honor Guard for there Reunion with Retired and Active USAF officers and enlisted of the former Foster Air Force Base in Victoria, TX were many members trained before leaving for the Pacific in WW2. My JROTC instructor spoke fluent Spanish and German. He served in the 8th AF, 2nd Air Division in WW2 in England. He served in SAC as a bombardier,navigator till his retirement in 1970. This was in the summer of 1984 when I met these awesome aviators from Mexico! I never knew about them until that day and for me as a military history buff, Marine Corps veteran with a degree in history more people need to know and these proud and gallant men.

I'm a Mexican writer and historian. For that reason I'm so happy and I feel great to see your video here. There is no much people who want to show what Mexico did in that time. And even EEUU did hide some information. The participation of Mexico was unclear for many reason. It is something great to study. And there is too many things really weird. Anyway. Thank you.

"The Mexican Expeditionary Air Force in World War II: The Organization, Training, and Operations of the 201st Squadron" A Research Paper Presented To The Research Department Air Command and Staff College In Partial Fulfillment of the Graduation Requirements of ACSC by Lt. Yeah its good to hear about them but there are some vietnam age veterans that were promised citizenship to the us if the fought in vietnam but 10-30 years later most of them got deported which is disgusting in my opinion they fought in a horrible war than a while later get deported it also happens to veterans from iraq and afghanistan. I am glad to have learned about this today - thank you Dark Docs. Squadron 201 may not have defeated Japan on their own but showed a tenacity in battle that is to be admired and honored. Good on you, lads, and may your story be remembered.

I commend you on your comprehensive presentation about the 201st. The little know final training for the pilots took place at Wendover Air Field in Utah. My father was assigned the task of final training and was designated Base Commander of Wendover Air Field. When the squadron received orders to join 5th Fighter Command in the Pacific, my father was assigned to fly with them and was squadron Air Corp Command Liaison. Here's a link to the Wendover Air Museum site about fighter training there. Take note of the group that followed the fighter group.

I On my way this squad existed but I have never heard this much about them. Thank you for this story.

This is awesome. Even more, so is the Mexican Americans who have fought in every war since the Civil War. In WW2 Latino's earned Congressional Medals of Honor at a high rate. I just found out about this squadron, so excited this KZread channel made a video over this!

In March 1938, Mexico was the only country to protest in writing to the League of Nations against the annexation of Austria.

I knew of the escuadron de aguilas contributions to the Pacific fight. When I visited Mexico many years back, there was a monument with a P-47 honoring the Aguilas, but it was in bad shape with rust and one wing was slanting of the fuselage. The Aguilas represented Mexico honorably.

I think they should restore one or two P-47 to airworthy, flying condition. That would be *beyond* awesome.

Has the pleasure to meet all surviving veterans of the Mexican Expeditionary Air Force a few years ago. Also. Ground personnel also fought and managed to get a Hinamaru flag now on display in Chapultepec Castle.

Talk about the Mexicans not knowing about this, I was TOTALLY unaware of this myself! Thank you for enlightening me of this fact!

Stinson Field and the museum next door in southeast San Antonio, Texas had an exhibit on the Aztec Eagles last time I was there. It's not a huge exhibit but had a lot of information.

Wow, as a mexican Is kinda cool to see the mexican expeditionary force in this channel! My grandfather, who passed away this year, was part from the mexican army which would be fighting in Phillipines, but the war finished before they were sent.

What they even less know is that México had an ace in de ww1 (Rafael O'neil), in the Spanish civil war we had another ace (Francisco Tarazona Toran) and during 1910 to 1939 México had severa civil wars in which the air force helped shut down even facing mercenaries hired by the rebels

What are you talking about? Racism even reached into the military forces. The Tuskegee Airmen, bless them for their servitude and bravery, were forced to band together because no one white wanted them as a part of their platoon, squadron or whichever rank. There was also a platoon of Japanese no one white wanted, they were also brave and heroic for the very country that looked down on them. Well, America came to it's senses and publicly recognized all these men recently. Although, you are correct in the coming together part because that is what unfolded after the whole world war ordeal.

where i live in mcallen, texas, there is a large veterans memorial with a ring of state flags around an obilisk and a complex of plaques for each war the united states has been in, with names of area veterans and casualties enscribed. one of the plaques is for the aztecs. the squadrons' members are all listed. we are 10 miles from mexico, so i think this was most fitting a tribute to them has been placed here.
