Sounds a bit suspicious to me. That bullet accelerates at over 20000 G in the barrel. It only goes off when it decelerates even faster and seriously deforms when impacting a target. If the explosive in the bullet was sensitive enough to detonate by dropping it, the bullet would never make it past the first mm of travel in the barrel before exploding.

@@glasstuna well if you think of a WW2 mortar shell; when its primed just throwing it and having the tip hit a surface will cause it to explode right? I mean he did say they were rumors after all. But the rumors never started how hard/high that you would have to throw/drop it, i think that's also an important factor. Those also could've just been faulty rounds that went off.

@@glasstuna If you look at the cutaway picture you can see that the striker is behind the primer/explosive. So accelerating it in the barrel will just keep the striker pushed back. It is when it is decelerating that the striker can move under it's own momentum forward against the primer/explosive. But yes it will take a lot more than dropping it....

@@SilvaDreams The direction of the force. The striker is behind the primer so firing it will just push the striker harder back. But when it hit something the force is in the opposite direction making the striker go forward under it's own momentum against the primer. But it takes a lot more force than just dropping it.

@@SilvaDreams there's a firing pin behind the explosive. When you fire a round the acceleration pushes the firing pin away from the explosive. But when you hit the nose of a round on something hard like concrete, that firing pin may strike hard enough to set off the charge.

Great vid. If you get another round, just put two pure blocks of gel in a row, without steel in it.

40k bolter rounds acts like german 20mm Minengeschoss. Just to compare it contain same amount of explosives as RGD-5 grenade. **Sorry, little mistake. Same amount of explosives is in 30mm Minengeschoss. So 40k bolter round = 1/5 RGD-5 =).

If you ever get more, do soft and hard body armor.

@@user-gl5bq3vi1s there were 3 grades of PZ ammo, determined by the Quality Control inspectors. First grade was highest quality and was for synchronized aircraft machine guns (the ones behind the propeller). Second grade was for wing and ring mounted aircraft machine guns. Third grade was not good enough for aircraft use, and went to ground troops so as not to be wasted. All 3 grades had a bullet with a black tip, so are quite distinctive (the different grades are marked by lacquer color on the primer). There are several memoirs of snipers on the Eastern Front, both German and Soviet, and they both mention using explosive ammo. It was always in very short supply, and only used when they had to make sure of an instant kill.

Imagine what a bloody mess it will be if somebody got hit by this round!☻ Also you're talking pretty clean so I can understand 95% of your speech without translation.
