I had the privilege of being in NYC three months before all of the horrible shit. I only saw the WTC in all its glory from a distance but I wish my middle school English/ Algebra teacher had taken my Blanchet Middle School group to visit the WTC in late June of 2001.

Honestly the Twin Towers complemented the Statue of Liberty the most of all, they were like a new SoL in a way, for any newcomers to modern New York.

At first They were hated by New Yorkers. They were described as giants boxes. But Once they started to build other buildings around the towers in the mid 80s it broke up the massive box look and gave feature to the towers. Also the addition of the north antenna mast in 1979 helped to give uniqueness to each tower. Then Hollywood caught on and started featuring the towers in film, they eventually became America’s buildings and were unofficially the symbols of American might and invincibility. The men who’s intent it was to knock these buildings down knew that

I am impressed they stood for over an hour before collapse. If a skyscraper can take a big asss jet at 500 MPH and still stand tall for another hour...that's impressive. Fuck those men that piloted those planes. Makes me wish hell was real cause those fuckers don't deserve an instant death...they deserve eternal torment.

I was in downtown when it happened and when it happened we stopped at work as well and we had to go home walking in the highways. It was a beautiful morning and it turned into darkness. Th ed next day the subways were empty, the trains were empty and the ones who traveled, quietly quiet..😰😰😰 and I'm worry because I don't want to see another day like that specially now with the situation with Afghanistan..God bless America. 🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I remember where I was when I heard what happened. I worked nights back then so I slept through it (I’m from Sudbury Ontario Canada) but I remember exactly where I was standing when I was told what happened. The people I was with thought it might invoke WW3. My Mum and Granny were stuck in Italy for an extra 8 days before they could get a flight home. Now that was stressful I tell ya. I’m very sorry you had to witness it firsthand and also live through the aftermath of it. It only took 2 hours to hit and drop the towers but it’s repercussions will go on for a long long time.

That huge empty space in the skyline after the collapse of the twin towers made it even harder for some people to heal after 9/11, especially the people of New York, so I'm really glad that the Freedom Tower was built and that it was able to fill a little bit of that void -- in the sky and in their hearts -- ultimately helping people continue to heal and move forward.

It is easier to understand and picture the damage caused inside the towers when you see an air view of the layout whilst in construction. The first plane's wreckage was probably lodged inside the core while the second missed the majority of the core but swept through the floors where it was caught by the perimeter columns near the corner on the opposite side of the tower. Along the insides of the perimeter columns going up you can see the angle clips where the trusses would have sat. It shows how easy it would have been for the impact of the planes to knock them off their hinges and compromise the structural integrity between wall and core. No one in 1970 could imagine an airborne assault of the scale of 9/11, otherwise it would surely have been designed differently.

What's really really bizarre and almost never gets mentioned anywhere is the gigantic hole of WTC 6. WTC 1 collapsed directly on top of WTC 6 and you would expect to find the debris of the tower but also the rest of the building underneath it. But a camera crew recorded the aftermath of the attacks on the same day just a few hours after from a helicopter and there was a gigantic hole inside of WTC 6, the size of almost two thirds of the building was gone. The building took a direct hit from WTC 1. But all that was inside of the hole that was at least as deep as the actual height of WTC 6 was some (with some I mean it's not what you would expect to find) steal beams at the bottom of the hole. But the rest was missing. It really looked like as if someone drilled a gigantic hole into the building. I'm usually not a fan of mysteries and that stuff, because everything can be explained somehow. But it's really bizarre and I can't wrap my head around what happened to that building to this day.

Video evidence from the media and the public, confirms the collapses were brought about by the plane damage and fires. Why you choose to believe something else is a mystery. Rebuilding the twin towers is not the answer. 2,749 lives lost in the WTC attacks will not be undone and it'll never make things right. The site as it is now is the best re-design possible as the two pools are the site of an immense monstrosity and should be regarded as a cemetary. One WTC is as tall as the old North Tower was and represents a city that has come to terms with 9/11 and moved on. That wouldn't be possible if the towers were replaced with similar or identical styles.

Absolutely pushed the boundaries. These were extremely unconventional buildings compared to the massive fortress like structures such as the Empire State Building or Rockerfeller center. They were lightweight, open aired, and used the bamboo method of construction where the outer walls were the strength. Tied together to the core by simple steel trusses, the same type you would see if you looked up when you go into a Costco or Walmart. Lightweight and strong for their purpose, but ultimately were the reason for the towers demise. To this day I still stand by my opinion that if this was a the Empire State Building, the building would have stayed up, or at least much longer before it might have had to have been demolished

@@NYCWalIcrawler Yes a B-25 dual engine medium bomber did accidentally crash into the Empire State Building in 1945. The crew was disoriented by fog and clouds at night and did crash into the north side of it killing about 15 people, That’s pretty much where the similarities between that incident and 9/11 end. The bomber was flying at a much lower speed unlike the giant 767 jets that crashed into both towers at speeds in excess of 500 mph, cutting through the outer wall and exploding through the core of each tower. The B25 in 1945 did make an impact and part of the landing gear and one of the engines did push out to the other side. There was not a tremendous explosion like 9/11, but the subsequent fire did burn most of the plane and caused about a million dollars in damage. Overall the tower stayed intact and was never deemed structurally unsound

Sturdy construction. It required good explosives, that's for sure.

Bro, the jet fuel of the 2 767s although it might have not melted the steel beams, it might have weakened them to the point they cannot resist with the weight of the towers, that's what made them collapse, don't chitchat about Building 7, a literal half kilometer 110 story wide skyscraper fell on it, there are even some pictures showing that the falling debris from the North Tower damaged the north side of the building that faced towards New York Harbor and the other buildings of the Trade Center, wich caused some fires and major damage that made the 47 story wide building collapse at 5 PM.

@Benjamingamer-xi2gn do you know what an explosion is? All jet juel would have combusted immediately after impact, hence the huge ball of fire you see when the plane hits.

Judging by the way it collapsed, I actually thought it was made of matchsticks.

They might have thought it was impossible for them to collapse that way....Did you see the external structure? That is some thick steel.

Instead of telling us about the music, perhaps some write up on dates and people and what it took to complete this project.

I miss these/those buildings. I was planning to move to NY get a job at one of those twin buildings. That all changed on September 11
