The full karma for Bouchard was the fact she lost both of her Fed Cup rubbers that weekend, when she was the highest-ranked player amongst both teams. The handshake refusal was an embarrassment to her country. Shaking an opponents hand during the ceremony is class and a tradition that's been done in both Fed Cup and Davis Cup. You don't have to wish your opponent luck to shake their hand.

Yeah? Well how would Sharapova have done without meldonium? I can empathize that if my favorite tennis player came out as I drug cheat, it would be a tough pill to swallow. But some fans seem to want to delude themselves and pretend it didn’t happen. At the time that Sharapova was found with meldonium, WADA was still researching the drug to find out what class it was. Meldonium was found to be a metabolic modulator once the research was completed. Metabolic modulators have been banned since 2005. Sharapova wasn’t “legally doping” as people like to say, she was actually doping. She couldn’t provide proof that the had the ailments she claimed to have and wouldn’t allow WADA doctors to examine her to confirm or disprove the tale she was spinning for why she was taking meldonium. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meldonium Scroll down to “society and culture” and read the couple short paragraphs under “doping.” Much of this info didn’t come out until WADA finished their research-long after Sharapova was serving her suspension-so the WADA findings didn’t get much press. I know this is tough to hear for a lot of fans, but this is a reality that needs to sink in. You can still love her, but it’s kinda sad seeing people who seemingly forgotten that she had been cheating pretty much since she came on the tennis scene.

Personality aside, without any bias, Bouchard's game even in her best year 2014 were just ok and not a top 5 material (if it wasn't for the flawed ranking system). I can tell you former top 11s-20s whose playing technique and abilities are way beter than her. Some good players like Anastasija Sevastova, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and Maria Sakarri have better understanding of the game than Genie. If Genie were to commit herself and showing up all year long, I would say she's more like a solid top 40 material with abilities to beat top players once in a while when they have bad days.

What do you mean you don't understand Bouchard? I've never liked Bouchard but on this occasion she was completely right. She isn't going to look up to someone who is a drugs cheat. She's not the only player who didn't think Sharapova should have been allowed back. Alot of players thought Sharapova got away too lightly. Even players like Murray, Federer & Nadal said Sharapova should have been stripped of all titles.

@@jamiedrury9656 for starters, meladonium wasn’t a banned substance until 2016. So, technically Maria didn’t do anything illegal up until that point. Now whether her titles are deserved or not and if she’s guilty or not is just an ethical judgement and not a legal one. Bouchard made it seem like she was a better player than Maria if not for the drugs which isn’t the case as Maria post ban still had better results on the tour than Bouchard.

Honestly now... if i was a referee on Mladenovic Muguruza match i wouldnt allow that... that wasnt a match... that was pure psychological war... we know its there but not this way!!! No way... i dont know if i would have something to base on as a rule but i would invent one myself on that moment... trust me!!!! I would prefer to stop the match if it was even for me that i should be replaced... i wouldnt let that happen... i mean the lady is crazy... you cant force a win within this way... its against sportmanship and all good things sports in general can stand for like respect etc...

I dont agree for maladenovic. Actually i rewatch the match and except one time where she cheers on muguruza fault, she didnt do anything that Bad... The problem was the public with muguruza not mladenovic. Actually, muguruza didnt complain about mladenovic but about the crowd and she was 100 percent right.

@@blackmamba5380 well... A LOT of players celebrate After each points on EVERY match (gauff, Collins, ...). She didnt do it even in this match. For her in this case, she just made final at Rome just before and she was near her highest rank. And she was against the defending champion. She was on a mission x) But honestly if you look at all her matchs even when she was on loosing streaks she is always respectful. I suppose all the backlash she has after that really calm her in a sense (and probably too much she kinda needed to be in fire spirit to be at her top level it seems). She WAS really bitchy on interview against Garcia years ago, but never on court. I admit this was borderline that time. But call it "psychological war" it's clearly dumb. If that's the case it means gauff, Collins or Williams do "nuclear War" everytime they play x)

@@squall545 On that match she was disrespectful. I dont know about other matches from her but i m sure she must have compete also with more kind feelings... depending on the situtation i guess. So when we talk about this match we talk about this match including the opponent who was in this case Muguruza. She didnt deserve to feel humiliated because of her mistakes. Noone deserves that in every way. Whoever does that especially like this; repeatedly and with such tense, gets out of the lines and serves an under way goal. Simply as that.

9:50 this literally happened to Halep at the 2022 Rome open againts Collins . The ball was called 'out' by the line umpire. However the chair umpire went down and he said that it was still 'in', so the point was given to Collins, because after SImo hit the ball it went outside of the opponent's court. It's just that if you think of it, obv when you hear the line umpire call 'out', you instantly let the ball go away and in this case it went out. They could have replayed the point, but didn't.
