WTA celebrates our long time friend & supporter Dane County executive Joe Parisi’s retirement party.

Joe Parisi retired on Friday May 3rd as Dane County Executive after 13 years. His connection with the Tibetan community started when he was a drummer for a blues rock band named ‘Honor Amongst Thieves’ when he met Jim Bolton, a student of Deer Park. Joe was introduced to Deer Park and the Tibetan community. When Jim passed away, Joe’s band did some performances and raised funds to start the ‘Jim Bolton scholarship’ for Tibetans at Madison College.
In 1996 Joe was elected as the Dane County Clerk. In 2004 he was elected to represent Wisconsin's 48th Assembly district during which with Joe’s lead, the Wisconsin State Legislature unanimously passed the Tibet Day Joint resolution on March 10. In 2011 he was elected as the Dane County Executive.
Over the years, Joe has helped not only us Tibetans but also touched many others such as the poor, the homeless, African Americans, minorities, the young and even victims of criminal justice and domestic violence to name a few.
